Room was excellent with view over the High Street and cosy seating area. Bathroom was great. The hotel was very quaint with lots of period features. The location was perfect right in the middle of the High Street.
Wifi didn't work at any point during my stay which was very disappointing. Check in was a bit chaotic.

Location - centre of town and close to everything.
Character building.
Cleanliness of room, sheets and towels.
The step-over-bath to shower was challenging without a firm handhold/rail and non slip mat.
This would be difficult/dangerous for seniors and/or anyone with mobility or balance issues.

central location and historic building
That the receptionist was unable to call me because I have an international phone number.

Lovely characterful historic property in central location with adjoining restuarant, and great coffee place round the corner. Upgraded to a spacious suite with large well appointed lounge as well as bedroom. Tea, coffee and water provided as were a good range of toileteries. Asked for late check-out and this was granted without fuss. Well thought through with items such as a large fan in the cupboard incase warm. TVs in both rooms with good choice of channels. Lovely comfortable pillows.
No breakfast provision - but not much of a disadvantge with restuarant and coffee shop within metres.

Perfect location and lovely old world ambience.
Missed not having a bar.

The location of the hotel is great! In the middle of Guildford's center where all restaurants and shops are located, and very close to the train station. The room was bigger than we expected (bigger than much more expensive hotels). The staff were very nice and helpful and smiling all the time. The bed was very comfortable.
The facility overall is somehow outdated and needs little renovations. The cleanliness of the rooms could also be improved a bit.

Location was very good
Staff were not over helpful on check in as two of our party could not make it. We phoned in advance to let them know but got quite a negative response.

Room was huge and tidy, I loved my stay at the Angel.

On the outside this is a beautiful historic building in the very centre of Guildford shopping area. Location to the Station was very good - that was my reason for choosing this hotel as had a very early train to London.
My room was a junior suite - lovely space, comfortable big bed,
Inside it was quite frankly tired, unkept, dirty in many places. No facilities for guests. There is a bar/cabaret in the middle of the hotel which was not made clear in its booking information.
VERY tired furnishings and not well kept.
It needs to be updated or at least high attention to cleanliness. My toilet was dirty and there was dirt on the carpet.

The location. It was right on High Street in the very center of town. You could find 4 or 5 excellent coffee shops within a block of the hotel, and Guildford Castle was 3 minutes away on foot. On Tuesday morning there was a wonderful farmers' market just outside the hotel.
The central location meant that street noise began early in the morning - not the greatest after a long journey. Water pressure in the shower was also less than ideal. Parking was not available, though you could park on the street after 6:30pm until 8:30am

The hotel is rustic and charming. Rooms are a good size. Staff were very helpful and nice. Great location in town.

Good location for central Guildford, nice rooms, comfy pillows.
I was in a room over looking the courtyard. Very noisy at night when people were leaving. Housekeeping very poor.

Only the Location
Hotel is old and requires a full refurbishment..
No Lift and no Porters at the Hotel, which means you need to drag your suitcases on a staircase and steps to and from your room.
Central Heater in the room and bathroom do not work, and hotel put mobile heaters which did the job.

location, history, friendly staff
bedroom was astonishingly hot. the thermostat didn’t change anything and the radiator valve was also ineffective. I tried to tell someone but the reception wasn’t always staffed

very comfortable room although it was in need of some repairs. Carpet was coming away from bathroom door area. No seal on the shower door means that the water builds up on the floor

The location could not be better. Our room was at the back of the hotel so we were not disturbed by street noise.
The staff were friendly.
Our room was in need a a deep clean, showing signs of wear and tear. The hotel in general looks a little tired.
For some reason the television was positioned so it could not be viewed from the left hand side of the bed.
Ill fitting fire door in the passage leading to our room.
Housekeeping failed to make up our room.

Very comfy room. We slept well and the lounge area worked well.
First impressions of the bathroom was OK, it wasn't as clean as I would have liked. then we found that the taps on the twin sinks didn't work properly and the shower water pressure was the lowest we had ever encountered, one sink light was dim and one of the ceiling lights flickered. not ideal.
the bedside lamps were very strange too, as the lampshades weren't attached... seriously, they just sat on top of the mounting point, so that if you moved either lamp, the shade would topple...

Huge, clean bathroom.
Uncomfortable bed and no air conditioning.
