About this house rental
Beautiful, private, two bedroom cottage overlooking Walker Pond in Brooksville. Custom kitchen, living room with fireplace, bath with jetted tub and deck. Family room DVD and VCR viewing systems (viewed on TV, But no TV reception), and Foosball table. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Not recommended for small children or persons who have difficulty with stairs. Canoe and kayak are available to borrow (life jackets also). Use of the beach is permitted by owners of the beach as long as we all keep it uncluttered and in its natural condition.
Walker Pond: Walker Pond is touted to be the third cleanest body of water in Maine. There are several species of fish including bass and trout. The water is up to four feet deep for approximately 100 ft. out. It reaches depths of 40 feet. The kayak that is available is made of heavy plastic. It is unsinkable and does not flip. It is perfect for the novice. The 16' canoe is perfect for two, three, or even four (two adults and two small children). Life jackets are provided or you may bring your own.
There is nothing more relaxing than listening to the loons in the evening, or watching a bald eagle soar over the lake.
Things to Do: Many of our guests enjoy just staying at the 'pond.' However, for those who like to venture out, there are many areas to hike, bike or drive. The public beach after the causeway from Little Deer Isle to Deer Isle is only a five minute drive. Deer Isle is a wonderful island full of the 'real' Maine. There are many artists and artisans with galleries out of their own homes, grocery stores, quaint shops, and Stonington, at the far end of the island is a working fishing village. The views are spectacular as you drive or bike ride and it is far less crowded than the Bar Harbor region.
Bar Harbor is about an hour drive away.
This rental offers no WiFi or Television reception. Some phones may be able to access a hotspot.

The property is gorgeous! It over looks a very impressive pond. There is a wonderful deck you can sit on and enjoy the view with your morning coffee or evening beverages. There was more than enough room for us. The cabin was equipped for whatever kind of cooking you wish to do. The host was wonderful! We will definitely book again in the future!for whatever kind of cooking yo

This was our second stay, and it was as quiet and relaxing as the first! We love staying on a lake but being near the ocean. There's great kayaking and lots of land preserves for hiking. Or you can just hang out at the lake!

We had such an incredible time at Sharon’s cabin. She was delightful to meet, and had the whole place well stocked for several days worth of home cooking, canoeing on the pond, and relaxing around the house. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a great getaway in Maine!
We were just an hour away from hiking in Acadia and got to see lots of fun stops along the way. Deer Isle was also great to visit, and very close by. We loved it, our dogs loved it, and we hope to come back again!

We loved our time together in Brooksville Maine. Walker's Pond was wonderful. We really enjoyed our time canoeing & kayaking and the quietness. We definitely recommend this location to anyone that wants to get away from the craziness of life and enjoys the peacefulness of the woods. Still lots to do if you want to drive, Bar Habor & Acadia National Park were amazing! Sharon was amazing with the booking( this was our 1st time staying in another person home) she also explained everything about the area and places to go.

Just the two of us so we used only the primary floor of this charming cabin (great view of the lake) but we loved it and would return again.

The property has a gorgeous view of the lake and gets lots of natural light. The kitchen was really well equipped (much better than many rentals). And Sharon was very engaged as a host. Overall a really nice place to stay!

We spent our honeymoon here and it was absolutely lovely. It was so nice to be disconnected and spend quality time together. The surrounding areas of Brooksville, and deer isle were absolutely breathtaking. The home was tucked away and very nice. Sharon was an awesome host. We'll definitely be coming back for a second trip.

Sharon was very easy to work with and the house is a little secluded - which we wanted. The no WiFi aspect made us focus on other things, which was great.

The location of the property was great! Located right on the pond. However, the bottom floor of the house was not usable due to the musty and damp nature. One of the bedrooms was located on the first floor, and could not be used due to smell of mold and many, many flies. We used the pull out couch to accommodate the 3rd and 4th guests which was not super comfortable. I’d recommend moving the bed downstairs up to the loft area which would be much more comfortable. Overall cleanliness of the house could have been better (i.e. smell of mold and dirty shower curtain) but we enjoyed our stay.

Great location
Right on the lake. Canoe & kayak at the house. Everything you need in the kitchen. Loved exploring stonington, deer isle. 1 bedroom on main & 1 bedroom in basement, which is a little musty. Overall great stay. Sharon is a gracious host.

Weekend stay
The pictures don't do it justice! The pictures make it look more dated than it really is.
Comfy beds, plenty of linens, communication top notch, the kayak and canoe are extra bonuses.
We stayed here for adventures in Acadia, which is just over an hr away. There's also a convince/grocery store about 10 mins away. Go to the back left corner and check out the locally made ice cream. The Ice Cream Lady. We packed a cooler to take back home. I'm sorry I forgot the name of the store.
Would highly recommend and saved the home listing incase we ever make our way back up there again.

Perfect place for a peaceful getaway
I highly recommend anyone who wants to escape from everyday life should stay here. It's quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. The pictures do not give the cabin or pond justice. It is indescribable until you view it in person. Also the host is lovely and a joy to speak with. 😊

Lovely Lakeside Cabin
Even though (unfortunately as far as I’m concerned, lol) we did have near perfect cell service, we still got to spend some good quality time with our teen girls at this lovely lakeside cabin. We are Mainers though, with local service. I don’t think everyone has the same experience.
We saw several osprey, some gorgeous ring necked ducks, and deer right up at the cabin. Lookout Rock hike was so beautiful, easy and close, we hiked it twice to experience its cool rocky summit and views of Deer Isle and Pumpkin Island lighthouse on one side and Walker Pond on the other. It was cool early spring weather, but I had to take my kayak out on Walker Pond (a typical Maine misnomer; it's huge!) Gorgeous. The kitchen is awesome. All very open concept… We were able to cook our traditional Easter dinner while chatting with the girls. We also had fun with the vhs movie collection. You have Soylent Green! 😜
We didn't have any problems at all. Sharon is excellent at communicating with her guests. Please note that she expects the house to be left as clean as you found it; the way VRBO used to be, which kept prices down. She doesn’t charge a cleaning fee, so please be respectful of this if you choose this home.
Hopefully we can visit again when the weather is warmer. It looks like great swimming!

Beautiful property close to Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine
A beautiful modern home with a deck and large windows overlooking pristine Walker Pond. Inside the house has three levels: a lower entry level with fussball, the main level with the master bedroom, bathroom, and a large kitchen/dining/living room, and a small cute loft. The kitchen is well furnished with appliances, pots, pans, etc, as well as all the common spices and oils you would need for cooking. Everything was spotless and the beds made up, all ready for us to have a great vacation. Easy access to the towns noted above and even Acadia isn't that far, or you can spend the day loafing on the deck and then taking the canoe out to explore Walker Pond. A great vacation base!

Tranquil Cabin
Couldn't be a lovelier location, nice kayak/amenities, but with the exception of the remodeled kitchen, feels like an old family cabin. Furniture and linen, towels, blankets careworn and in some cases threadbare. Some mold in the shower. An easy fix.

Peaceful and relaxing
We spent most of our time on the pond in the canoe fishing, reading in the evenings, hiking at Acadia National Park. Lots of wildlife viewing at the cabin. Best part was no cell service or WiFi. Wonderful to be totally unplugged.

A great freshwater headquarters
This camp was exactly what we were looking for: a place on a lake where we could hang out and swim or comfortably leave the dogs when we wanted to ocean kayak. And boy, were the dogs immediately at home! I have never seen our older dog as happy as he was hanging out on the deck this past week. Apparently, he was born to live on a lake. The place was great, had a full kitchen and bathroom just like a regular house. If we decide to visit the area again, we'll definitely stay here a second time.

Pet friendly, secluded, clean & comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay along with our dog. It was the perfect spot to let him off leash around the woods and lake near the house. Very short walk to lake, well appointed kitchen and updated bathroom. Despite there being only one confirmed, active case of Covid-19 in the entire county, Sharon took it very seriously and kept the previous day blocked off for my pregnant wife and I and wore a mask around us and in the house. A++++++++++

A truly spectacular vacation spot
My family spent 5 nights at this Walker Pond home and are so grateful for the experience. Sharon was a terrific host – she answered questions we had before we arrived and gave us a good sense of the house so that we knew what to expect. The location of the house was perfect for us- we spent two days just playing on the pond and 2 days up in Acadia taking in the sites. Walker Pond is absolutely gorgeous – clean, warm, and perfect for a swim or a paddle around the lake. The house is as comfortable as it is beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to enjoy nice meals overlooking the lake. Foosball was a popular past time but we also just enjoyed reading and spending time as a family. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect vacation.

Most Relaxing Vacation Ever!
We (my husband, and two sons - 7 years and 7 months) stayed at this camp in July for two weeks during a five week road trip. And we all agree that the two weeks on Walker Pond were the most relaxing and wonderful part of the vacation. The house is on the pond and hidden enough in the woods that you cannot see other cabins from the living area or the deck. We spent most of our days fishing, canoeing and kayaking around the pond. There is a kids' camp on the Pond. Motor boats were pulling campers learning to ski on the weekdays, as well as kids learning to sail and swim. It was more activity than we anticipated, but was fun to see them. We also enjoyed exploring the nearby towns of Blue Hill, Stonington and Deer Isle, which were no more than 15-20 minutes drive. We even made it to a local production of Annie at the Blue Hill town hall! Acadia park is an easy hour's drive and Camden is a little over an hour.
The house itself has everything you need for a quiet vacation. The kitchen had all the amenities for us to cook in most nights. The loft upstairs was perfect for our older son to spread out legos and play. And the downstairs fuseball table was used nightly. The house does not have internet, cable and our cell phones did not have service. We considered this one of the best parts of the house. Because of this we played board games, read Harry Potter and were reminded that we can have great fun without technology.
Lastly, I cannot say enough good things about Sharon. From the time that we booked the house, she was prompt with responses to my questions. We were a bit concerned about our baby and the stairs (which turned out to not be an issue), but she offered several solutions. When we arrived she made sure we had everything we needed. And halfway through our stay she picked up sheets and towels, laundered them and returned them.
If you are looking to truly have some time alone or with family/friends without any distractions, this is the perfect house for you to rent. If we find ourselves back in Maine, we will definitely be contacting Sharon again.
