Bar area
No water in room. It was the least I would have expected for a hotel of this type. Especially during a heatwave!

Staff were amazing, hotel clean and facilities great.
Very loud guests, which was unfortunate as it meant we didn’t have a great night sleep. Not the hotels fault just unfortunate this happened.

I liked the wonderful nature and landscape, delicious national food
The rooms were not cleaned well, the shower gel was not replenished and the garbage was not taken away. There were also no disposable slippers and bathrobes in the room
3.8
Beautiful buildings, surroundings and staff
Room was small, lacked air circulation or air conditioning. The ceiling fan was ineffective.

Decoration, gardens, parking, huge and impressive hotel, great jacuzzi, swimming pool, shop for all sorts of sport gear, many restaurants, impressive building...
Room was not clean enough, it was smelly, not sound proof, we were awaken by the sound of the next door alarm, bit oldish furniture, no bar, no fridge, bathroom wasn't great

The building is beautiful in a lovely location .. the staff were excellent and the food was superb. Everything was spotless.
Our room was spacious and clean but lacked a few 'necessities'? There were only two pillows but THREE duvets? No spare pillows in the wardrobe. We were a couple but there were only one of each bath and hand towels in the bathroom. When we inquired, we were told to 'look in the wardrobe' the last place we expected ti find spare towels but they were there. The room was really nice but very, very hot with no air conditioning.. Perhaps they need to take the towels out of the wardrobe and keep a fan in there instead, knowing how very hot the room gets. We were told we could have had one if we had asked, but quite frankly, we shouldn't have to ask .. it should just be there. No water provided for quite an expensive hotel, but no tumblers/paper cups provided either for a your own water or to use in the bathroom for your toothbrush. Despite the little things that they could improve on .. we would definitely return and we would also recommend.

The grounds, public areas and pool area are all really lovely. The hotel is very grand and the bar and patio are really lovely and make you feel like you’re in a special location. Breakfast is really lovely. We made use of the spa area which as it is included in your stay is really lovely just to relax in.
The rooms are dated. Our room had no fridge (although there was a cupboard for one), wasn’t spotless, there was no safe for any valuables and just wasn’t at the standard that fits the rest of the hotel which is such a shame as the grounds and public areas are so lovely. We didn’t even have simple things like glasses to use for water and the bathrooms had mould and limescale round the tap areas. We asked the housekeeper for some extra coffee sachets as we only were left 3 on arrival (we were there two nights and said it wasn’t necessary to have it cleaned on the middle day) and that seemed troublesome and he said along lines of well we’re a bit restricted and counted them out before giving us a few. We called reception and asked to be moved - we had champagne for our 15th anniversary (the reason for our stay) and wanted it cold and also had valuables I’d want to be put in a safe and was told it was fully booked - we could put our champagne and valuables behind reception which is not a solution. The room part of the stay felt disappointing. Given the price and the grandeur of the hotel may be I expected too much. We were with friends on this trip and they had been “upgraded” which meant air conditioning and they said their room was on a familiar feel to ours.

The spa and the gym were nice and the location was lovely

A really beautiful hotel in beautiful, large grounds . It feels very luxurious, like you’re hanging out in downton abbey! The view from the bar and large outside area is gorgeous and it’s a very peaceful countryside setting. The decor inside is very tasteful and it’s kept extremely clean and well maintained. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are also great. Very nice breakfast, many options and all very fresh. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Dinner was pricey but I guess it is everywhere these days.

The grounds are beautiful
It’s dark and rather gloomy

Lovely building and amenities. The breakfast was lovely but not enough staff on to keep on top of everything. Nice pool and spa facilities but could have been cleaner.
1. Staff shortages.
2. Hard mattresses/uncomfortable bed
For the busy half-term period there just were not enough staff on. Service was extremely slow at the bar, we had to clear our own table and prompt several times for requests. My sister ordered a £7.50 cheese and onion chutney sandwich which came as 2 slices of marg covered bread with some grated cheese shoved in, no chutney or garnish. This was however rectified when we notified staff.
We chose the classic family room. I was happy with the room size, decor and cleanliness however did not get any sleep on the first night and tossing and turning the 2nd due to exhaustion from lack of sleep the first night. The mattress was so hard and uncomfortable. The milk & teabag provision was a little on the tight side.

Most things
Spa was full of children not what’s expected of a quality hotel

The pool was a nice touch. And having the spa there too which was very good. They also put on a move for the children which was a lovely touch.
The staff where very help full too give us ideas of what to do locally .

The breakfast was ok, the location fine, the food at the Bunkers bar was indifferent, the venue was dark and difficult to find. The pool was pleasant, but the steps leading to it were not clean. The hotel had a problem with water that night so I was unable to shower before attending my function.
See above.
The venue was rowdy late into the night

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great building
Location
Gardens
Facilities
All very good
No Fridge
The room I was allocated was rather worn. Furniture was chipped and marked. So that was disappointing.
The main issue was the facility of a fridge which I requested when I booked. When I arrived there was no fridge despite the receptionist telling me that there was one in the room. I raised the matter every day with reception and was told that there was no problem they would supply a fridge. I stayed Monday to Thursday and finally on Wednesday a fridge was put in the room! But was offered no apology as to why it took so long!!!
Otherwise great place and I would be happy to stay there again another time with my wife.

Nice dinner in evening
Staff helpful
Had to carry the baby everywhere as pushchair not an option, but of a maze with tons of stairs.
3.8
Nice friendly staff
Hard to find way around sometimes especially with a little one with a pushchair.
A lot of choice of food but also abit too greasy

It could not run as I had seen it before they were struggling with lack of staff especially in the evening some food was not available I couldn’t have the ploughman’s on Monday evening because they had not got the meat I ordered Pizza which I was told would be served within 45 mins that was fine but when it arrived it was put on the table and the waitress said enjoy but there was no cutlery or napkins offered I appreciate the staff were very busy probably because of the wedding
Also outside our window in 134 there was an assortment of clothing that looked like it had been there for a long time including an old sock a sodden pair of underpants, cigarette butts and a beer bottle.

Beautiful building outside, decent breakfast, some nice facilities
The room was so-so, shower over bath (which was clogged), the fan in the bathroom could not be turned off even by the staff. The staff was friendly, but didn't seem terribly competent at times. The restaurant the Brassery was serving food that was vastly overpriced for the quality, so we cancelled the booked dinner and tea. The restaurant isn't very appealing and rather noisy. The hall has a lot of functions, so it was often noisy until late at night. One last thing: it can be very difficult to get out onto the main road as this is very busy.
3.8
The check out
The dirtiness, rudeness of staff, unprofessional behaviour by staff. lack of clarity on facility access, lack of options in restaurant
3.8
The grounds were amazing, the building itself was stunning. The breakfast was nice & the beds were comfy!
The decor & furniture was a little outdated, room in need of a touch of modernisation. The wait for food in the more casual restaurant was way longer than really should have been... over an hour wait times & the bar staff taking food orders didn't really listen to the order fully but was very pleasant! Sadly the food came wrong & had to be sent back.

Big beds, good breakfast
Service in bar was poor..
3.8
THE BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD AS USUAL. PARTICULARLY LIKED THE SEPARATE GLUTEN FREE TABLE. PLENTY OF CHOICE.
The evening meal was a disappointment. It has always been very enjoyable with good choices but not this time unfortunately. Three of us had lamb but it could have been anything. One had the vegetarian option which was a lump of cauliflower with something in the middle. Hopefully we will be back to normal on our next visit.

location
3.5 hours wait for 2 courses at dinner. just don’t bother, they haven’t got the staff. pool cold and overcrowded with kids. room tired and outdated. no bathroom amenities - pretty basic requirement. no one answers the phone when you ring reception.
3.8
Our room was warm. The breakfast was good.
Our room was not ready on arrival we had no biscuits in our room and toiletries for only one person. The chairs in the dining room had thick dust on them. When I mentioned this to the staff they said they were not given enough time to dust them.
3.8
location, venue
services.
Although on Booking it says that room service exists, the hotel does not provide room service anymore.
3.8
Room was large, warm& a comfortable bed. It was clean esp the bathroom & liked the eco setting on the towel rail as most are boiling or nothing
Staff were friendly in all areas
No fridge, which if you need to keep medicine cool is a possible problem. Doesn't need to be big. The public areas were freezing and it felt like AC was on! Temp was -4 outside. The side of the bath is really high so you could struggle to get on for the shower.
The Brasserie felt uninviting as a space for breakfast. The cooked food at 7:30am ( open at 7am) felt like it had been sitting for ages so bit dried out.
