Character
Two flights of stairs to carry my heavy bags. No air conditioning and room steaming hot. Opened window and no better and very noisy from surrounding area. Staff too busy in fighting to offer me hit drink at breakfast.

Location and room comfort
Breakfast could be improved with more options and some slice cheese

Breakfast was chaotic to be honest. The staff are lovely but so understaffed. If you arrived for breakfast which is a 2 to 3 hour window after the first 45 minutes choice was very limited. One busy morning I waited half an hour to be able to attract someone's attention to get a cup of tea. I was brought coffee.
Nicer toast would have been better. Sounds picky but very cheap toasting bread is not healthy and nutritious. I don't eat cooked breakfast so I can't comment on that.

The history of the hotel and location
The bed, it was very bouncy but too firm. I could feel the springs.it made my body painful and I slept very little.

Location and beautiful dining
All to great expectations

Location was good in the middle of town. The car park was impossible to find. I had to call the hotel to locate it.
The rooms were tired and outdated. Very few charging sockets and non near the bed.
The worst part was breakfast. I got down at 09:00 (they finish service at 09:30) to find 3 off cuts of cremated bacon, dried out and burnt sausages, no eggs or offer to cook them, yoghurt was cheap & runny, no fruit juice and staff that really didn’t care or offer anything fresher.
Overall, the place just needs a good shakeup, hospitality training and a service more in standing to the history of the building.
I wouldn’t return unfortunately.

The room was cosy and comfortable. Dressing gowns and slippers were a bonus. No road or pedestrian noise. Had a drink in the bar before checking in. Very friendly and polite.

Kerst decoratie in het hotel was goed
bed was goed

Foyer was decorated beautifully for Christmas.
Staff were lovely and very hospitable.
I will be staying again
Definitely recommend
I couldn't find the car park location but I found one very close which was cheap so it didn't really matter to me

Not great - very tired and dated. Pealing paint on walls and ceilings.

Great pub hotel. Nice reasonably priced restaurant and bar area. Great breakfast. Nice spacious room with a very comfy bed. Close to the centre and the cathedral.
Parking is a bit tricky to work out. Best to park close by and check in first and get instructions.

The hotel has a traditional feel and a welcoming vibe but nothing out of the ordinary. Room was comfortably furnished, breakfast was ok and the bar was a good place to chill.
My whole experience was coloured by the active drug dealing and drug taking in an adjoining property which occurred immediately below my second floor room (no 201). The noise was intrusive throughout the night, even when I closed the bedroom window. People were still doing deals and taking what appeared to be crack at 7am in the morning. My discomfort was added to by the paper thin wall between my room and room 202 where the occupants insisted on having the TV on at all hours. On arrival, I mentioned that I had found difficulty locating the hotel car park (because of nearby one way systems and turning restrictions) but the young woman at reception looked at me as if I was an idiot with no sense of direction. Not a great arrival experience for even just a one night stay and I won't be rushing back.

Plenty of sitting out areas. Bar served real ale and sandwiches in the evening if you had eaten at lunchtime. Location excellent.
Better bread at breakfast. Cleaner chairs in bar area.

Proximity to station it did the job as an overnighter for an early meeting in London
Not a lot to complain about. It’s a little dated but seemed spotlessly clean for the time I was there. Bar staff friendly. Mind girl on check out could have smiled and appeared a little
More happy

Nice interior and location
No hot water in the shower. The room, on the other hand was boiling. Carpets, no aircon (of course) and a window that barely cracked open.

The room was very nice. The bedding is top quality, very soft and smooth. The bed was bigger than a regular double. We booked an evening meal for one day, there was a good choice of menu - although we were disappointed that there was no cheeseboard offered as dessert. The location of the hotel is excellent, one entrance to the shopping mall is directly opposite. The Cathedral is just a 10-minute walk and is a must to visit, it is beautiful. There are lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
Breakfast was a bit hit-and-miss. Buffet-style, you could help yourself to cereals, yogurt, pastries, and fruit (although we found only apples in the fruit bowl, no bananas). The hot food was also buffet-style but served by staff. The sausages were good, the bacon was thick-cut and a bit on the leathery side. The "grilled" tomatoes were practically raw with a singed top. The second morning I asked for two boiled eggs with bread and butter, no toast. On arrival, they were served in small condiment dishes as apparently all the egg cups had been broken, and the yolks were hard. I wish I had asked for poached eggs instead.
