About this apartment rental
This two-level Condo features a unique private entrance located at the rear of the building that is reminiscent of the former theatre backstage area with original exposed brick. The entry way leads guests through the back patio of Foggy Mountain Bar and Restaurant, a local favorite, and down to what was formerly The Altamont Theater's Stage Door. Inside there is an open kitchen design with granite counter tops, a dining area that seats 10 people, a large den area on the lower level with two seating areas and a kitchenette, washer and dryer, two full bathrooms with stylish walk-in showers on the main level, casual walk-in shower in bathroom on the lower level. The main floor bedrooms include a king bed, another king bed and a queen bed (the queen bedroom has a private full bathroom). There are two lower couches on the lower level that pull out into beds with memory foam mattresses. There are no bathtubs in this condo.
The Altamont Condos is located on historic Church Street in the heart of downtown. The street is tree lined and full of beautiful old buildings including three historic churches. The location is ideal, being close to everything downtown and the street is off the high traffic streets, so it is quieter than nearby Patton Avenue.
This building was originally constructed in 1895 and renovated in 2010. The historic character of the building was preserved so it continues to fit in on Church Street while adding modern features to make the property environmentally friendly, convenient and extremely safe.
A second renovation in 2019 created a pair of two-level condos that are ideal for friend groups or families. These two units have connecting doors to create a space for larger groups.
There is high-capacity internet coming into the building and extensive Wi-Fi coverage so you can work remotely during an extended stay. For entertainment we provide a smart TV with Sling and local TV channels, and the Wi-Fi has enough capacity to stream on personal devices.
There are solar panels on the roof that are behind the original parapet that preheat the building's hot water and electric water heaters in each unit are only used for backup. Heating and cooling are provided by high efficiency heat pumps that automatically bring in fresh air from the outside so indoor air never seems stale. The building also meets the same safety standards as a hotel. There is a sprinkler system, emergency lighting and fire rated emergency exits. You can enjoy the charm of an old structure on a historic street and know that if there is an emergency in the middle of the night you can safely exit the building.
Parking is available in the new Buncombe County public garage on Coxe Ave, it's behind the church across the street and a very short walk. There is another public garage under the A-Loft hotel on Biltmore Avenue.

We loved our stay here! We had two families and it was great to have the kids down stairs and the adults on the main floor. The location was also wonderful, walkable to so much in the city!

The layout of this condo is odd, but for our group it worked perfectly. Neighborhood was great! We were within walking distance of great restaurants and all the things we were there for. Beds were comfortable!!!

The property is in a great location, you can walk anywhere downtown. The kitchen is well appointed and the bedrooms are cozy, each has a sound machine. The instructions were very clear on finding and entering the property and parking. The negatives are the lack of windows (only 1) and the strange layout with one if the bathrooms downstairs. Could definitely be updated but overall served its purpose.

This property has a ton of space and is a very short walk to pretty much anywhere in downtown Asheville. It was well stocked with the basics (soap, paper products, coffee, etc.) The only issue we had was resolved very quickly with an email. The split layout was a little odd, but that's what happens when old buildings get repurposed and renovated. We had no issues with noise from street traffic, the pub, or the other apartments.

8 friends stayed here and we had a great time. This is located walking distance to many great restaurants & lots of good shopping, coffee shops, bars, and whatever you might want from your downtown Asheville stay.
The Sears Alley Parking Garage was $10/day and a just a few blocks away.
It’s a very short drive (or long walk) to the River Arts District which has free parking.
The rental has 2 big king beds and one queen as well as 2 queen sleeper sofas. The owner left us a queen air mattress as well per our request, so we had plenty of space to spread out and sleep comfortably.
The main floor has a big dining table and open kitchen where we all had some breakfasts and cocktail hours.
The entryway is not pretty, but once you’re inside it’s unique and quite nicely decorated. Washer, dryer, and dishwasher provided with detergent pods. Owner also provided paper goods, soap, hairdryer, plates, glasses, utensils, toaster oven, and everything else we needed. They even have a great noise machine in the bedrooms which worked great (we didn’t hear any outside noise but with this machine I didn’t hear my friends who woke up before me).
Overall I would definitely recommend this rental for a great time in downtown Asheville!

Perfect location to explore downtown Asheville
It was the perfect spot in my opinion. Right in the middle of downtown, and all the bars/restaurants are 5-10 mins walk. Check in was easy and Brian was very responsive. We did not have any issues at all. Our group had a great time in Asheville. We were able to go to a various places with short breaks in between.

Birthday stay
We stayed here for my 40th birthday girls trip and it was perfect! The location was outstanding. We were able to walk just about everywhere with plenty of food, drink and shopping options.

Great location - large unit - but a little wonky in terms of space
Loved the location in the heart of Asheville. Easy to walk to lots of great stuff. The unit was clean and the information and responsiveness of the manager was great. The unit itself is a little weird. The living room area is downstairs and it is not as connected to the upstairs bedrooms and kitchens as it should have been. The entrance is in the back of the building and is not very clean. The bathrooms were fine, although you would think the private bathroom would have had the king bed. The doors to the bedrooms didn't close easily. We didn't have hot very hot water in one of the showers. Still would recommend, but renters should no the issues.

Great Location!
Needed a place for a group of friends that was close to downtown and walkable to all of Asheville and this place delivered. Communications were great with property manager and very easy. Place has everything you need and great for groups. Parking is only challenge as their is no dedicated parking but there are a couple of parking garages very close. Would stay again.

40th birthday party
Floors were sticky in the basement from what appeared to be syrup and cobwebs with bugs in the corners at the top of the stairs. Beds were clean and comfortable. The entry is a bit awkward. I would recommend getting into the unit before Froggy Mountain gets too busy as costumers stair at you while you are moving in. I would however rent this unit again.

Celebrating the Bride!
Great location- in walking distance to bars, restaurants, stores, and tours Asheville offers! Didn’t spend too much time in the vrbo because we were out so much! But it was a great home base!

Immaculate place amazing location
This downtown townhome has it all! We were able to enjoy our weekend walking around and enjoying the downtown area. The house was spotless and had everything needed: coffee, hair dryers, extra blankets, soaps, dish and laundry detergent, even Lysol wipes. The beds were unbelievably comfortable. The check in process was a little unusual as you have to walk through a patio of a bar to get to our front door but it wasn’t an inconvenience once we had done it and knew what to expect.
The layout is great. Three rooms and two full baths upstairs and two comfortable pull out couches downstairs with a full bath that has another extra toilet as well.
Overall, this place is perfect! We will definitely stay here again next time!

Weekend in Asheville
The condo was great!! Roomy and very clean. It was so close to all the great things downtown Asheville has to offer. The only issue we had was walking through the outside seating of the restaurant to get to the condo. We arrived during happy hour and had to haul coolers and bags through the patrons sitting on the patio. The staff had a table full of people set up right in front of the gate to get in . Not a big deal but a little awkward and inconvenient. Overall great visit and great property!!

Amazing!
It’s PERFECT for a stay in downtown Asheville! Our family (including grandparents, us, 2 year old and 6 month old) has a wonderful stay! Location is amazing and right across from the Lobster Trap which is delicious! Entrance is in the back of a pub which was fun to run out and have a drink without venturing too far if necessary. You heard absolutely zero outside noise either. The property is beautiful and has everything you need. Would certainly stay again and highly recommend!

outstanding location, nifty architecture
our party stayed in both the 101 and 102 units, which connected through the basement. Perfect location for an extended family (esp. one that likes to sample the local restaurants). Teenagers through grandmothers were pleased by the whole experience.
