About this cabin rental
We look forward to welcoming guests back to our special cabin after Hurricane Helene temporarily paused our cabin rental. Asheville needs visitors! PLEASE READ.
HURRICANE HELENE BOOKING INFORMATION:
Please be aware that Asheville has experienced significant storm damage due to Helene. All roads are passable but there is still visible debris along the sides of the road in areas.
We are providing a discounted nightly rate in January and February to encourage visitors to explore Asheville and support our local community! Additionally, we’re giving a 20% discount for guests who volunteer in the area per night for each day you volunteer. Just let us know where you’re volunteering and for how many days. If you’d like suggestions for volunteer opportunities, feel free to ask.
Our 1800 sf log cabin is nestled in the woods on a private road. The last 400’ of the road is gravel. It's like being in a tree house, surrounded by wildlife and conveniently close to everything!
The road is 100% accessible by all cars. However, we recommend you don't drive your low-rider sports car.
Note that our 35-year-old cabin is only suitable for children aged 10 and older. The cabin was not built to current building codes and may not be suitable for younger children. For their safety, we ask families with younger children to look for another great place to book. We appreciate your understanding.
The cabin offers a cozy and warm atmosphere with big wood beams and an open floor plan. It has mountain views and beautiful sunrises. From the deck, the gentle sound of a small brook trickling adds to the peaceful surroundings. It’s the ideal spot to unwind after a day of visiting Asheville or volunteering.
The cabin is only 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, Black Mountain, and Biltmore Estate. Asheville, Black Mountain, and surrounding communities are welcoming guests to enjoy restaurants, breweries, and shopping!
We’re frequently asked two questions by our guests: "Who decorated your cabin?" and "Who cleans your cabin?" These questions reflect the care and attention to detail we put into making your stay as perfect as possible!
The cabin features beautiful pine wood floors, modern appliances, TVs in every room, Wi-Fi, and a fully stocked kitchen ready for all your cooking needs.
We often get reviews saying "We thought of everything!" We provide coffee, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher pods, toilet tissue, shampoo and conditioner, towels, and linens.
The cabin's open floor plan has plenty of space and light spread over 3 levels allowing your group to spread out and relax!

Everything you would need in a cabin. Clean, peaceful, roomy, view, and secluded! We had a very restful 3-night stay. Will definitely rent again.

We had a great vacation at Wende's Almost Heaven mountain cabin. The hosts obviously gave a great deal of thought into outfitting the cabin and provided everything a person could need, from coffee to lots of towels to shampoo, spices, pots and pans, even an Ingles card! . The light fixtures and cupboards were labeled so you didn't have to dig around trying to find things. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. A highlight was seeing a mama bear and her two cubs walk the balcony. I would definitely rent the cabin again and will recommend it to my friends visiting Asheville.

We had a really enjoyable stay. Everything we needed was there. Very nice secluded location with access to hiking trail right out our door but less than 30 minutes to all the activities we were interested in.

We enjoyed our stay in this nestled, rustic-charm cabin. Wende had everything labeled, which was absolutely wonderful!! Only wish there was more privacy for the upstairs loft bedroom. Other than that, it was just what we needed!!

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful house with wonderful views. Hostess pampered us with thoughtful amenities and very clean. We sat outside on back deck and listened to the creek and birds, and a turkey. I needed this!

Took a girls trip for my birthday and we had a fantastic time! About 20 minutes from the city which is perfect if you want to stay in a cabin in the mountains. Clear instructions were given on how to get there. For sure need a 4 wheel drive vehicle but very manageable. My only note is that sound travels throughout the cabin so any noise (tv, music or conversation) can be heard clearly in just about every bedroom. Didn’t bother us much as we were there for a good time but might not be suitable for sensitive sleepers.

Great location to nearby Asheville on a mountain complete with its own trail and stream adjacent to the property. Accomodations were as described and the Hosts had everything labelled for easy access and enjoyment for the week we stayed. It is a cabin but was very comfortable and cozy. Great fun for a Spring Break!

amazing job keeping an older cabin updated! Everything is well-labeled! Remote/isolated location.

My family and I stayed at the cabin for Christmas and thought it was the perfect place to get away while still being close to Asheville. We loved all the holiday touches!

Wende has thought of everything! The cabin is stocked with extra personal touches that helped make our stay even more memorable. She was quick to respond and easy to communicate with, especially when our travel plans hit a snag. She was very accommodating! We would stay again without hesitation.

Meticulously appointed cabin, clean, comfortable beds, quiet/peaceful. Felt like home.
We drove out each day for hiking/touring and returned to this retreat for rest and relaxation in the evenings.

We loved Almost Heaven! The cabin is immaculate, well-stocked, well-organized and so charming. The setting is stunning -- we especially loved the hiking trail that leads right from the parking pad. Highly recommended!
One thing I'd note for future guests: there are three bedroom spaces, but only one of these has a door. The loft space has a nice screen to create more privacy, but it is open to the living room below and anything happening in either space can be easily heard in the other. The large primary bedroom takes up most of the downstairs level; the stairs down to this level drop you right into the primary bedroom. There is a door to the small bedroom, which shares a "jack and jill" bathroom with the primary bedroom, but there's no door between the stairs and the primary. Everything is beautiful and worked fine for us, but don't expect much privacy between the spaces.

We were there for our daughters destination wedding in Asheville. Just a 25 minute beautiful drive away. Secluded but safe neighborhood. We enjoy having our coffee on the porch and hearing the leaves fall to the ground. The owners were wonderful and surprised us with a welcome bottle of wine and note.

Great remote location for a cabin. About a 20-25 minute drive into downtown Asheville, depending on traffic. Very easy check in process and very accommodating host. We had a college reunion about 20 years after graduating and had an amazing time in this cabin. Great walking trail, fire pit and plenty of places to sleep!

The cabin couldn't have been more "prepared" for our stay and I can't think of one thing I would change. Great cabin, beautiful scenery (complete with a few bears), and good people!
Also, as a doctor I was very impressed by the extensiveness of the first aid kit!
Thank you

This is our second family stay at the Almost Heaven Cabin and it won’t be our last! It just works for us-from the comfortable beds and multiple seating areas to the well equipped kitchen (including balcony grill and seating area) and the upgraded trail just steps from the cabin. Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore and restaurants/shopping are all just a short drive away. Wende is easy to work with and all requests will receive a prompt reply! Thank you! Suffice to say, we are Big Fans of this property!

We had a great time at this wonderful cabin. It was perfect for the 5 of us. The amenities available at this house was over the top. The house was beautifully decorated with a lot of nice touches. Everything was labeled so everything was easy to find. The small labels in no way took away from the aesthetic of the decor.
We came to Asheville to specifically see the Biltmore House. This cabin was very convenient to the Biltmore Estate as well as downtown Asheville. We truly enjoyed our long weekend. We would stay here again!

My wife and I, along with my in-laws and a wonderful weekend at Wende's cabin! From just sitting on the back porch listening to all the different birds to enjoying the fire pit, this truly was Almost Heaven and one of the most therapeutic experiences I've had in the mountains in some time. I cannot recommend this cabin enough. Check in was so easy and we had everything you could possibly need. Would stay here again and again.

My sisters and I visited Biltmore Estate and Omni Grove Park Inn as our Christmas Adventure. We chose this cabin to include an up close and personal look at the mountains. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities and attention to detail this host provides for her guests; amazing furnishings and superior beds. Everything you need when traveling was there! The most amazing aspect was the cleanliness!! We are in awe of that and the interior decor!!! We hope to return someday!!!

The owner was wonderful, so very kind and helpful. Our friends were delayed in checking in and she followed up personally with a call. Our guests loved every moment there! I highly recommend staying here!

The cabin was lovely. The communication with the owner was punctual and helpful. The first two things that impressed me: 1) The decor and amenities. They were not worn or outdated. The decor seemed to be precisely designed and well decorated for the enjoyment of guests. 2) Cleanliness. This place was spotless! The other thing that we loved was the location. It was tucked away in the mountains and a short drive to Asheville. We enjoyed sitting “in the trees”. It was almost heaven.

Met up with some friends for our annual trip to the mountains. The cabin had a ton of space, and we kept commenting that the owners have thought of everything a guest might need. We did some hiking on the trails nearby and went into Asheville a few nights. Highly recommend this location!

Cabin Trip
We had a great time staying at the cabin. It was surrounded by woods and with a pleasant creek flowing through the side of the property. The owner thought of the little things, like small toiletry items, popcorn and coffee. We spent Amos the entire time lounging on the back deck, grilling and watching the wildlife, etc. We would definitely recommend this cabin as a nice getaway and would stay there again!

Great Getaway
The cabin was clean and well-appointed. It's obvious the owners care about and take good care of the cabin. It's a little far from town but that's exactly what we wanted. A quiet, cozy cabin in the woods. My only complaint was that there wasn't an ice cream scoop : )

Perfect Cabin!
This cabin was absolutely perfect for our birthday trip! It was extremely well organized and had just about anything you could need. We loved the decor and how cozy it was; there was plenty of room for our group of 5. The deck and views are amazing! Great for a glass of wine in the evening or morning coffee. We were about 30 minutes or less from everything we wanted to do (Biltmore, downtown/West Asheville, hiking). The driveway is a bit steep and has a couple switchbacks, but it's very well maintained and we were able to manage it just fine with a little hype music and confidence. Can't wait to come back!
