This is a authentic log house that is amazing. The kitchen was beautifully stocked with great kitchen gear. It was incredible quiet and peaceful. There is a home directly next door but we only heard the people living there talking 2 nights. The best location for just about anything you would like to do. Great Place Highly recommend it.

The cabin is cozy and nestled away for privacy. The cabin was extremely clean. All the kitchen and bathroom items needed are provided, just in case you forgot something. The cabin had great hot water, super fast wifi, great tv, and a view hiking trails close by on the property. We had our German Shepherd Dog with us, so large dogs are allowed, which is a big plus, while other places sometimes have weight limits on our four legged family members. The cabin is located not far away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which makes access to various attractions breezy. Close by attractions such as Crabtree Falls, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Rough Ridge Lookout, Mount Mitchell, just to name a few.

Very nice cabin that was easy to find, and was as listed. I found the cabin to be well appointed with everything I needed. I really appreciate that I could bring my dog and I would definitely rent again as it was very private

Perfect spot for us. The cabin was very well done and still in keeping with the style and heritage of the structure. Quiet and off the beaten path, just what we were looking for. A great spot to explore the area and region.

As a historian and an amateur wood craftsman, this log cabin allowed us the opportunity to stay in a restored and relocated 200 year old log cabin. The historian part of me laughs at the lavish residences of those who lived 200 years ago - knowing fully well that they are full of wishful imagination.
Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood cabin was just a single room, 16 feet by 12 feet log cabin.
This cabin from a decade later was a much larger single room log cabin with a sleeping loft. The restoration has added much more: a kitchen and bathroom, two sleeping areas upstairs, Mountain clear running water, hot water, oven and stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, television, and WiFi.
It is nested in a mostly shaded hardwood forest where we watched deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, and birds make their way.
The front porch is an excellent place to relax in one of the four rocking chairs and read in the peaceful quietness.
Located at about 3,600 feet in elevation, our week in July was comfortable even without air conditioning. The electric fans provided plenty of air circulation.
Now for my woodcrafting knowledge: the old oak logs are hand hewed, and the original adz and axe marks are clearly visible. The wooden, country furniture is largely handmade of black walnut, oak, wormy chestnut, and red cedar. All tastefully complete the interior.

Martha & Dan’s 200 year-old, restored mountain cabin is beyond words. You must see it & experience it for yourself!! We, unfortunately, didn’t get to spend as much time at the cabin & on the property as we would have liked, but I will certainly clear my calendar for another trip to Little Switzerland, just to soak in all that this little “cabin in the woods” has to offer! Martha & Dan have everything you could need or want (down to a pair of readers, in case you forgot yours!!). What a cozy, wonderful hidden gem!! We were surprised to find that the bathroom was downstairs, while the bedrooms were upstairs! That didn’t hamper our stay, however. The pull out sofa suited us just fine! They even had it already made up and ready for the night!! Many thanks for a cozy retreat in the woods!!

Would not hesitate to stay here again. Communication with owner was great and condition of property, stated amenities was as advertised. This cabin under promises but over delivers for a great weekend getaway!

This cabin is beautifully restored and furnished with interesting antiques but outfitted with all the modern necessities and conveniences. It is cozy (love the fireplace and gas logs) and secluded, but close to the Switzerland Inn and Little Switzerland community so that a quick drive will take you to a general store, cafe, pub (outdoor music in the summer) and restaurant.
For motorcyclists, the infamous 226-A begins/ends at Little Switzerland. For hikers, Grassy Creek Falls is nearby (within walking distance of the cabin for real hikers) and Crabtree Falls is just short drive down Blue Ridge Parkway.
I would caution that this is an authentic restored cabin, and the stairway to the bedrooms could be a real challenge for some older people and children. In addition, the sloping ceilings in the bedrooms are low on the sides and take a little getting used to.

Beautiful cabin - in the woods and private yet conveniently accessible to the road. Fantastic area, it's been too long since we been up in the mountains, and this is the best VRBO we've ever had. Good supplies in kitchen for alot cooking (which I love to do) and very cozy but not too small living/dining area and master bedroom. Made trips to downtown Ashville and surrounding towns - Swiss Mountain is a beautiful place. Thank-you for your hospitality, we will surely come back - hopefully sometime next year. Jane Mussehl

Not the greatest place for older folks. Stairs to the upper bedrooms were a little hazardous and no bathroom upstairs, ended up sleeping on the pull-out sofa all week to avoid going up and down those steps.

This cabin was very beautiful and peaceful.
We have not had a vacation in over 8 years and this was just what we needed. The trails on the property are awesome. The rain on the tin roof was very relaxing. It also snowed overnight on our last nigt there it was so beautiful to wake up to. Martha and Dan have a great cabin with everything you would ever need.

My husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and stayed here. We had a wonderful stay. The host, Martha made it very special for us and left us an anniversary card, desserts and an anniversary banner. The cabin was very welcoming and clean. Everything you need is there. We also went hiking that had a beautiful waterfall nearby.

Wonderful cabin. Enjoyed seeing deer and chipmunks. Trails were nice for evening walk. Cabin was stocked with items needed. The stairs to bedrooms are tricky but you are in a 200 yr old cabin. Loved the furnishings. Thank you Martha for sharing your cabin with us.

This was a beautiful, rustic cabin located near the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin looked 200 years old on the outside but was very modern on the inside and had all the necessary amenities. There were several nice hikes within minutes of the cabin including the Crabtree Falls hike featuring one of the largest falls in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to rent this cabin again if we’re in the area.

The place is not too big and not too small - just perfect. I really enjoyed in the morning having coffee next to the fireplace. I felt at home. Martha is an incredible host and is there for you every step of the way. So much to do and so little time. I will be back.

Peaceful mountain retreat~Dogs were in heaven!
We had an awesome stay at this property! The cabin is rustic but is very idyllic and has all of the necessary amenities. VERY quiet and peaceful location. The front porch was perfect--we spent the majority of our time in the rocking chairs, enjoying each others company.
We really liked the hiking options on the property, which was an added bonus.
Most importantly for us, our dogs had a GREAT time here!
The stairs to the 2nd floor were a little tricky for our handicapped dog, but we were able to help him navigate them without too much difficulty.
Highly recommend this cabin!
