This home was perfect for our first outing to Acadia. We enjoy being away from the crowds and exploring on our own and this was the perfect setting. We explored the Schoodic side first and later launched kayaks directly from the property to explore the surroundings by water. We ate at local restaurants and also had a well equipped kitchen for those nights we stayed in. We took our bikes over to Acadia by ferry avoiding the traffic and getting a bonus tour guide from the ferry owners as we approached Bar Harbor. We explored the carriage roads, hiked many mountains and enjoyed popovers at the Jordan Pond House. We booked a night kayak paddle off Hadley Point Beach and saw many shooting stars and enjoyed paddling through the bioluminescence. We had perfect weather and a perfect place to crash after our action-packed days. We can't wait to return.

The check in process was easy and the property managers very responsive. The washer and dryer on site was a huge selling point for our family with 4 young kids. The space was clean and open, and the views were beautiful. We enjoyed mornings on the porch. The kids loved the bunnies that visited often throughout the day and checking out the tidal areas. It was convenient to family and we’d definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Maine.

Great place… very quiet and remote location, be prepared to drive on an unpaved road. The house itself is very clean and well taken care of. It has everything that we needed. There is an outside grill and fire place. Communication with the host was good. The place itself is about an hour away from Bar Harbor and main Acadia trails, but it was not a problem. We have made the trip multiple times. There are also few Acadia trails just 20 or so minutes away from the house. There are a few restaurants, an ice cream place, and a small grocery store just few minutes away. Overall very-very good place. We all enjoyed our stay… there is also a rabbit who lives right outside the house. He comes out every day… we named him “Harold” :-)

Very unique location, and exactly what I wanted. Quiet location. Definitely bring sturdy shoes so you can explore the water front. Take advantage of the “Catch Your Own Dinner” lobster tours right in Corea. Good locations if you want to explore surrounding areas, but stay in a rural setting! Will visit again.

A wonderful vacation!

The place was clean, comfortable and very cozy and views of the bay were spectacular. We enjoyed a couple of beautiful sunsets and a couple of clear nights at the fire seeing the Milky Way and shooting stars with just our eyes. Susan was very responsive and helpful. While this is a beautiful waterfront property, I would not consider it having a “beach”. That said, you can walk down to the waters edge and the chairs are great for birdwatching. A very relaxing place in a very quiet part of Schoodic. We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor.

This property was fabulous! Even though it's out of the tourist area, there is a lot of things to do nearby! We especially enjoyed the waterfront of the property (I would not swim here, but the kids enjoyed looking for creatures and shells), Sandy Cove beach (at the beginning of the road), Me and Ben's Ice cream in Birch Harbor, Lunch on the Wharf in Corea, watching the waves at Schoodic Point. We also made a couple trips to Bar Harbor/Trenton to see Diver Ed and the Great Maine Lumberjack Show.
We had a great time! Communication with the property manager was excellent, phone call and texts accepted and responded to promptly.

House has everything you need for your stay. Great, quiet location, just a little drive to all the places you want to go. Very clean. Waterfront very pretty, we were just unable to swim there due to the tidal schedules (but that's nature!!) Would definately stay there again.

This home was perfect for our vacation! It felt like home from the moment we first walked in! Fully stocked linen closet, pantry, and kitchen! Box fans in the bedrooms so I could sleep! Views were amazing! I saw a deer swim across the cove and enjoyed the private beech!

The place was beautiful, clean, and scenic. We enjoyed it very much. The downside was it was very out of the way, very dark( no lighting whatsoever… really not good to drive at night), and really no beach. Disappointed about that. It was, however, peaceful and relaxing.

Sunset Cove Cottage is a great place to stay. The cottage is clean and comfortable and has a great water front view of the cove. The Cottage is on a private lot away from the busy tourist areas, but is close enough to drive and see all the sights. We spent time on Mt. Desert Island, visited Acadia National Park, many of the small harbor towns, including Bar Harbor, and drove the Schoodic Peninsula and Bold Coast Scenic byways. The backyard porcupine was also special. The host, Susan, communicated well and made the stay easy. It was a great time and a nice place to stay. The only thing that would make it better would be a second bathroom, but we would not hesitate to visit again.

We had a wonderful time at Sunset Cove. We loved the big, stocked kitchen. The views of the water were amazing both in the morning and in the evening. We loved walking on the shore line in the evenings at low tide. The Pickled Wrinkle was our favorite place to eat at.
We had a few hiccups that were at no fault to Susan, the owner. The next door neighbor had an excavator running early in the morning to about 4 pm for a few days we were there. That wasn't very relaxing but we made the best of it. The power did go out on the last few day we were there. I immediately let Susan know and she got on the internet and let us know that there was an outage in our area. Again, no big deal we made the best of it.
We enjoyed our stay and we can't wait to come back.

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is decorated nicely. The downstairs bedroom and the bathroom are cute and when we booked there weren't pictures up, so now you know. One bedroom upstairs has a sliding door. The other is an open loft space with less privacy. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed our meals there. Buy groceries before arriving. We loved the blackout curtains in the sleeping spaces. More rentals should have them.
We loved the location with the long driveway and few quiet neighbors. The water was beautiful. Be aware that if walking is difficult for you, it will not be easy for you to get to the water's edge. It's a bit of an uneven hill and slippery rocks once you get down. My kids still loved it. My daughter says go down on your butt. She's 4 and knows about these things.
This home has several scented products. It's not heavily scented but it's enough that if you're sensitive to these things you'll notice.
Right before you turn onto Grand Marsh Bay Road is a very nice sandy beach called Sand Cove Beach. You park on the busier road and walk down. We loved it there!

Beautiful, peaceful location. Cleanliness could be improved. Bathroom and downstairs bedroom had intense wet musty odor. Dishes needed to be re-washed as they had dried food on them. Lost power for about five hours. Manager said this happens often. Consider installing a generator like neighboring houses. Could not cook, shower with warm water, or flush the toilet without power.

A quiet Maine getaway ...
Everything was great! Watching the sun set across the bay from the rock beach on a 74 degree in July ... just perfect. Thank you!

Peaceful setting away from the crowds
My family enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Cove Cottage! The house itself was very clean and spacious, with beautiful views all around! The bay was ever changing with the rise and fall of the tide, and the quietness of the surrounding woods on the property was magical. This area is very remote…..but if you are like our family and would rather be away from the touristy areas (like Bar Harbor, which is about an hours drive away) then you will enjoy it! My husband is an avid fisherman, and was a little disappointed with the lack of good fishing at the property, but we loved being able to sit on the warm granite shore when the tide was up, and watching the crabs and muscles come out when the tide went out. Plus, Schoodic Point is a beautiful and quiet section of Acadia National Park, and a close drive (25 minutes) for amazing views and fishing - I highly recommend a sunset at the point! The kids loved exploring the woods, and while we didn’t see any wildlife on our trip, there was plenty of evidence in the woods that they are around 😊 The smaller towns around us (Birch Harbor, Winter Harbor, Corea) were scenic and quiet, with enough little restaurants and activities to keep us busy, but again avoid any type of crowd. Thank you Susan for providing great communication, easy check in/out instructions, and all the suggestions of things to do in the area! We enjoyed our time!

Beautiful views, close to everything
We really enjoyed staying in this quiet home near the water. Lots of space for us to spread out with 4 beds. Kitchen was very well stocked with coffee, cooking oil, and all the sundries to make a meal. The host was helpful when I couldn’t locate the lock code previously given to me in my email.

Maine getaway
The cottage was very relaxing! We enjoyed watching the tide come in everyday. It was close to Bar Harbor’s restaurants and shops as well as Acadia’s wonders. The only complaint was from my son about the wi-fi which couldn’t be helped. We played board games instead!

Peaceful Remote Getaway
This was our 1st time visiting Maine and with travel at an all-time high we had trouble finding places to stay anywhere near Bar Harbor. Luckily we found this gem well off the beaten path in Winter Harbor. Sure, it's an hour drive into BH, but that area was crawling with tourists, and while we did enjoy our time there, the most peaceful moments were had right here at this property. The setting is idyllic and refreshing. The house was loaded with all the amenities we needed. And the hiking on the Schoodic was some of the most beautiful we've ever experienced! We likely would have missed this little corner of Acadia if we would have stayed in the tourism zone. If you're traveling up this way, do yourself a favor and consider this hiding spot tucked away down a dirt road far away from all the chaos of Vacationland. You won't regret it.

Quiet Retreat
My friend and I spent almost a week here and enjoyed being able to relax. The cove was quiet and was the perfect place to watch the sunset.

A nice and quiet place
I was looking for relaxation and quiet time, This place is nestle in the woods and it fit the bill.
Spend 6 wonderful quiet days on this property listening to birds and nature by the water, The Schoodic Peninsula is only 20 minutes from this property and is absolutely breathtaking and It is far less crowded then Acadia/Bar Harbour area to the south.
The only Negative (not owner's fault) was the road that leads to the house, about 1/2 mile of this road is gravel with really "bad" potholes, do not drive your low profile sports car here bring your SUV instead .

Great Place with a few caveats.
First, let me say without reserve that the property was lovely. Clean, well stocked with everything to enjoy ones self. The peacefulness and view of the water were amazing. There are just a few things to be aware of to make sure one has an exemplary vacation.
1. Use Google Maps to get there. Apple Maps adds about a half hour of travel time because it ignores a road.
2. Bar Harbor being 10 miles away only matters if you can fly. If you are planning any excursions or have any plans for Acadia, your traveling time is over an hour. Plan accordingly.
3. Be of reasonably strong health if you want to go down to the waterfront on the property. My wife and I found it impossible to navigate down to the water, but there is a lovely beach about 5 minutes away.
With these few things to be aware of, don't hesitate to go and have a fantastic time!

Nice and relaxing stay
Place was very clean and well kept. Susan got back with us quickly with all questions we had. The only problem we had was the road the place is on is gravel. It had a lot of pot holes and we had a flat due to this. The AAA person suggested that we take Paul Bunyan road and we would only be on the the gravel road a short time.(this helped a great deal.) Only one other inconvenience was that we had no television reception for regular tv stations, could only get Netfix by using one of our accounts and password. Was a very nice stay. We had a great time.

Quiet, clean, and beautiful.
Our family had an amazing time at this cabin, which is tucked away in a beautiful bay. The house was adorably decorated, immaculately clean, and had every item that we could have needed. I was worried about the single bathroom, but it never posed a problem since we were outside most of the time. The kids loved exploring the shoreline with the changing tides and cooking smores on the campfire. We all loved kayaking in the bay and eating lobster on the deck as the sun set. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a quiet vacation on the ocean.

Great location & good value
It is a great location in every-way and it is also well furnished, I wish we had a second bathroom, even a half bathroom would make it very good and convenient. We loved the sculpture at the entrance.
