About this cottage rental
Ohia Cottage is a well-appointed guest house on a secluded private farm in the heart of Kona s coffee belt.
How amazing would it be to wake up and smell the coffee in Hawaii?! Our cottage is a perfect setting to host honeymooners celebrating their love or simply hosting a family of 3 that would love a secluded getaway in the tropics! The cottage is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath that comfortably sleeps a total of 3 guests. It is furnished with a Queen bed in the master bedroom and a small double bed in the guest bedroom. My favorite feature is our wrap-around lanai with distant ocean and garden views.
Located near South Kona s best beaches, Honaunau and the National Park to your left and Kee i Beach, Manini Beach, and Kealakekua Bay to your right. Choose your direction and in 10 minutes enjoy cultural activities, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and sun. A complimentary gift of local farm produce and coffee will be included in your stay and special fresh farm eggs will surprise from our hens on your doorstep at times. 3 people max! may be able to sleep a toddler if sleeping in a pack-n-play or on the bed with parents in the master bedroom.
Some things you should know prior to staying in Hawaii:
The Big Island is not to be missed, so to help make your Hawaiian dreams a reality, we have assembled all the things you may need to know about staying here in Hawaii! Curious about places to visit or things to do? Ask us about our recommendations list! . The Big Island of Hawaii seems determined to break the norm; the stereotype of the average tropical island, that is. Here you ll find the ongoing battle between green forests, black lava fields, the ocean, the rain, and sunny days almost incomprehensible; the diversity is simply stunning. With that being said from time to time insects can be present outdoors and sometimes make their way indoors due to our tropical climate here in Hawaii. We share this information with you folks because we understand insects can be something to be fearful about or can be somewhat of a nuisance to some individuals. We would like to rest assured that we do schedule pest control services in our very tight schedule do the maximum recommended to not harm people in the house/Condo which is once a month), but it s one of the few cons of tropical weather. Please know we go above and beyond for all of our guests and make sure to provide standard maintenance for extra comfort and an enjoyable time when staying with us here in Hawaii.

My wife, son (13 years old) and I stayed and it was the perfect size for the 3 of us. Beautiful view of the ocean surrounded by fruit and macadamia nut trees. Recently renovated with new kitchen appliances. The outdoor deck/lanai was perfect for enjoying meals and coffee in the morning.
You are in the country. About 10 minutes from restaurants and stores in Kona. About a 5 minute drive from the beach for snorkeling and exploring. Beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a unique Hawaiian stay in Kona country.

We loved the house, location, rural atmosphere and really appreciated assistance from host. We'd stay here again.

We enjoyed are stay at the Ohia Cottage. Pictures are accurate. There is no air conditioning which we knew when we rented the cottage. Fans through out the property. The cottage is surrounded by a lush tropical forest. With that being said, lots of spiders, insects, very vocal frogs and curious gecko’s! Not to forget the roosters and chickens. So, brings ear plugs to sleep. :)

Beautiful spot but could use a review by owner. Having a single mirror in only the bathroom made getting ready by all guests tough and the kitchen could benefit from a drip coffee machine but not a deal breaker since they provided a chimex with hot water pot. The welcome of Kona coffee and fruit was a very nice and kind touch. Would stay again.

Enjoyed our 4-day stay and looking forward to returning here.

Very well appointed, a lot of thought has gone into the complete renovation of this cottage. Clean and comfortable with a great vibe. Yes, there are more than a few chickens, but you are in the country in a lovely location. Would stay again without hesitation.

Superb! In every way a great place, the cottage itself, the surrounding garden, the location, the friendly and kind owner who gave us local information and shared both her coffee and fruits from the garden with us. The cottage was in perfect condition, inside and outside and the extras provided made this a perfect home away from home. The location was great, away from the crowds, but close enough to visit any of the main attractions of the Kona Coast. A great Hawaiian feeling will surround you as you relax on the lanai. Mahalo

We couldn’t have been happier with this property. A dreamy farm locale in one of the prettiest spots on the Big Island. The house was well stocked, super clean, and felt like HOME - filled with love. The wrap around lanai was the perfect place to perch and take in the magical sights and sounds of the location. We will be back! Mahalo!

Very nice and full of lush vegetation. Amazing garden with plenty of geckos and coqui friends at night. Close to captain cook and to some areas with good snorkeling

Was a great getaway for our anniversary. The property was very secluded and private. We had a nice surprise with fresh fruit and coffee. There is no AC but with the windows open, it was cool and comfortable to sleep. The bed is quite soft and may not suit everyone. We enjoyed the chickens, roosters and visits from the dogs! We would love to return.

The house log book shows guests going back to at least 2020, and it was nearly full of RAVE reviews from all over the globe. We added more of the same. Very private, yet 10 minutes to nice beaches and convenience. This property was impeccable. High end appliances all around, quality gear for just about everything, you don't ever need to leave (but of course you will). Everything worked wonderfully. Hot water abounds, and even tastes great from the tap. Fridge makes good ice at a rapid pace. The local fruit, coffee and preserves were delicious. Comfy beds with tons of different pillow options. Surprises: two adorable and very friendly pups on the property were well behaved and unobtrusive. The no-see-ums were present, not too bad, but near dusk they got... bitey. Best to stay inside. The road in is VERY curvy and narrow for several miles in both directions (20mph), which is totally fine but something to note if you are a very anxious driver, particularly at night. Of course, that is 3/4 of the island.... :) This is NOT a resort, but it is a jungle paradise with all the privacy and comforts of home.

This was an amazing place to stay. Spacious, clean, well ventilated. The apartment is superbly equipped - kitchen utensils, beach items, laundry pods you name it! It is located on a scenic farm and we really enjoyed the sounds of surrounding nature. Can’t wait to stay again!

Beautiful accommodations as a base for exploring or to relax. We had spend our previous 4 days driving and exploring so when we got here we were very happy to chill out reading all day, watching the geckos. There are lots of comfortable spots to chill. For those not used t wild life the sounds of the geckos and macadamia munching pigs may be new but for us it was perfect.

We had an incredible stay in a place that was so very comfortable that we truly hated to leave...even for a day at the beach! So many thoughtful things were provided , like beach chairs and snorkel gear. I appreciated a well equipped kitchen with high end appliances. The property was beautiful and very well kept. The house was spotless and well appointed, robes, books, artwork, flashlight and everything we could possibly need. The owner was a joy to meet and we spent treasured time talking story and getting local knowledge. Fresh eggs and the finest coffee I’ve had was gifted and made for special breakfasts on the wrap around lanai. We enjoyed beach time at the nearby spots and a great meal at Manago hotel. We can’t wait to return and would recommend this place most whole heartedly to friends.

The guest house is on a coffee farm, the family property of a slack guitarist legend. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from the lanai, which shows up especially well at sunset. The hosts are unobtrusive, so much so that we thought we were alone on the property the first few days. The kitchen, like the rest of the house, is surprisingly well appointed. We love to cook and everything we needed was in arm's reach. Everywhere you look, fruit grows within easy reach. The roads in the neighborhood are winding and narrow but there are good, flat places to run along the ocean. Keei Cafe in Kealakekua is worth an after-dark driving adventure but, more often than not, we had no desire to leave. It is a remarkable place.

Great stay at captain cook area cottage.
House was charming. Very well equipped. Really nice furniture — not what you’d have for a rental but what you’d have for your own home. Nice outdoor furniture as well. House was spotlessly clean. Marisa the manager was great to deal with — responsive and helpful. All in all an excellent experience. We cooked most nights and ate on the deck. Lovely sunsets. Convenient to beaches and snorkeling. Nice area for walking. Fruit Growing in the yard to pick. Chickens and roosters here and at neighbors, giving it a farm feel. Really enjoyed it.
