About this house rental
(Please read all)
The chalet is located in beautiful Arnold, CA in the foothills of the Sierras. It is walking distance from Fly-In Lake (seasonal) and a short 4 mins from the Blue Lake Springs recreation center and pool (Memorial Day to Labor Day) and Big Trees State Park. Just 25 minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort. We have a whole-house generator, stand up paddle boards, disc golf discs, sleds, pool, pinball, home theater and many other toys for you to enjoy.
Winter: we are just half an hour down the hill of Bear Valley Ski Resort, which has also great cross country ski, tubing, and various Sno-Park areas where you can go sledding. With enough snow you can sled in the back yard or from the sides of the swim lake that's walking distance and dry in winter.
Summer: from mid-June, the HOA rec center is expected to be open to guests but confirm by Googling Blue Lake Springs HOA or sent us a note (a fee applies, $15/day per person, $75/day for a group up to 6 or you can get a week-pass). Amenities include: Pool, Tennis/Pickle Ball, Bocce, Shuffleboard, Cornhole, Life Size Chess, Ping Pong, Foosball, Horseshoe, Beach Volley, Basketball, Snack Bar/Restaurant, Lake, Gym. We have some stand-up paddle boards which you can carry to lake. Nearby Sierra Nevada Adventure Company rents out kayaks.
We have a whole house generator that automatically kicks in when power goes out. The area is prone to power cuts both in winter (snow downing trees) and summer (PG&E power cuts to prevent fires). The house also has central air conditioning and central heat, which can also run off the generator. Note that Comcast Wifi may not work during a power cut.
The Chalet has high-Speed Comcast Wifi (the fastest you can get in the area) with mesh network extensions and various work spaces/tables.
The house is spacious. About 2700 sq.ft. with 3 floors, 4 bedrooms and three baths, plus a bonus basement with an extra day bed (that extends to a king) with a trundle. Each floor has it's own private full bath room with luxury full-body shower (top two floors) and a shower a bath (bottom floor). Note that the master bedroom upstairs is a large loft open to the living room and the second bedroom upstairs is only accessible from the master bedroom.
Amenities include a gourmet kitchen with monogram stove, home theater, Jurassic Park pinball machine, pool table, two gas fireplaces, games for young, old, an expansive deck with heat lamp, BBQ, and (soon) chiminea fire pit.
We have an extensive home manual which we can send you even before you rent and we constantly adding tips for things to do and sample itineraries in the home manual and (more slowly) on our website Arnold Lake Chalet.
There are 5 spaces where guests can sleep divided over three floors, but there are several things you should know:
1. 2 regular bedrooms, 1 bunk room and 1 queen bedroom on ground floor
2. Top floor is the "Master" but it's a large loft open to the living room and the 2nd bedroom on this floor has a door that closes but it's only accessible from the Master
3. Downstairs basement (with many windows) has it's own shower, bath, toilet, a pool table, movie theater, a separate wine room, etc.. It's a large space where we placed a trundle bed that becomes a 1 King bed + 1 Twin (but it's also not a traditional bedroom).
When we use the space ourselves, we consider these "5 bedrooms", but you could also say it's just 2 bedrooms + loft + bonus room + basement. Please review the photos to make sure the space works for your party.
Note check out is 11 am and check in is 4 pm.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Arnold and this home was perfect for everyone of all ages. Plenty of space to spread out. Beautiful well equipped kitchen and of course the kids loved the basement amenities. Back deck was nice to enjoy morning coffee or tea and dinners in the evening with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the outdoors.

My family had a fantastic stay at this beautiful home in Arnold, CA. The listing was very accurate (large deck, great game room and movie theater downstairs, close to Fly-in Lake) and was very clean and well stocked with essentials. Will definitely be looking for this home again next year! Thanks so much!

We just got back from our stay in Arnold, and our family couldn’t be happier about the home. I was blown away by the attentiveness of the owners. They texted me prior to the trip, researched fishing locations, and wrote various times regarding maps and their own research regarding fishing holes. They checked in on us via email after our first night. I enjoyed seeing pictures of the family throughout the house. It made us feel we were in a family home and not a company rental.
The location was great, and the amenities were plentiful. I was very pleased!

We had a wonderful stay. There are plenty of great amenities for families. We enjoyed using the game room to watch movies, play pool, and compete for high scores on the pinball machine. The lake was nearby and we spent long hours soaking up the sunshine and fresh air. The cabin itself is beautiful. There was plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is a home cook’s dream. I wound book here again when I return to Arnold.

This house is great! the layout is amazing the game room downstairs was a great place to hangout with family and friends! the owner responds quick to messages and any issues you may have which we didn't have any. Super close to Gofing at Sequoia Woods! Overall an amazing experience and property! We will stay here again!

Loved the pinball machine. House is advertised accurately. Cleanliness good for an either a bunch of guys or for kids. House amenities are a bit dated (bathroom/plumping needs some work), but it was perfect for us.

The property was nice to get away for a weekend in the snow. The master bedroom upstairs is a loft and everything from the kitchen / dining room can be heard back and forth, just a heads up. Also the drive way is extremely steep. It snowed when we were there and there was no way I was going to try to go down it, we would have ended up sliding into the house. So it was a bit of an issue with my mother-in-law getting up and down the driveway as we had to park at the top of the hill. Overall we enjoyed the property and the stay.

This cabin was in a great loaction. Very close to everything we were planning on doing for the trip. The cabin is very big with a lot of room for our entire group. The only down fall was the cleanliness of the cabin. The showers and the bathroooms needs to have a deep cleaning. The carpets leading to the downstairs game room were very soiled. The hand rail leading up to the kitchen area was broken and very dangerous as the steps are steep. My husband had to put tape on it so that nobody was injured. The owners did note the showers leaked all over the floor but it was more like a flood. Overall great location and they had a lot of toys to take to the lake it was just the cleanliness of the cabin.

The home is lovely but we did have a few issues! The downstairs was so perfect. The time we were there was extremely HOT and downstairs was very cool. Media room, pinball machine and pool table were way fun! Kitchen and family room were very nice.
The home was not ready at check in. Carpets are very dirty. The upstairs is very warm. The very small “room” off the bedroom (loft) was so hot no air vent. Not usable during our stay. The deck was not cleaned and we didn’t use it. Two of the showers (very nice and fancy) leaked quite a bit!

To be clear, this is a 3 bedroom house - not 5. The owners count a futon in the basement game room as one bedroom and a finished closet/storage area off the master as another. The bed in this room is sloped and broken. Another surprise was that one of the actual bedrooms is a loft over the kitchen.
My 9 month old crawled around on the tile in the kitchen/living area and his clothes had collected dirt from the floor.
I had contacted the owner the week before my stay asking for an early check in. She said she’d get back to me but did not. I messaged again two days before the stay and she responded with an option to pay an extra $100 for early check in and gave me 4 hours to confirm. I didn’t see the message until after the window so there was no flexibility with check-in time.
The kitchen was well stocked and the deck area is nice. There is a nearby lake with a playground that’s great for kids. The driveway is extremely steep (there are stairs along side it) so I’d imagine this could be problematic in icy/snowy conditions.

The chalet was very nice to stay in. We loved it was multiple levels to the cabin and pretty cool large room downstairs to hang out and have fun family time. The deck was goregous and views were great. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was amazing. It was very close to the lake which is an added bonus. It was everything we wanted in a weekend trip.

Could not ask for more!
Great location, great owners, great amenities! We had to be out of our home for a week during a floor remodel & were lucky to find this gem. My husband was able to work the entire week on zoom meetings with no WiFi issues, the AC was awesome (95° this week!), we spent so much time in “the basement” playing pool, watching movies, & pinball! We walked to fly in acres to SUP after work daily. We cooked every meal & enjoyed every minute!

50th birthday celebration
We planned a birthday weekend away to relax and float. It was a fantastic stay and the house worked out perfectly for our group. We had 10 adults and two dogs. We had plenty of space and lots of room to hang out. The deck was fantastic the kitchen/ dinning room area was another gathering spot we used often and the game room was a total win. Tons of space for everyone.

Wonderful place!
This place was amazing! We had a lot of fun in the game room. The house is beautiful and described accurately in the listing. The host was very communicative and helpful. The house had everything we needed to have a fun and relaxing getaway.

Gorgeous property, fantastic location near all town.
The property was as described and picturesque. Location was ideal. Amenities to keep everyone entertained, from home theater and a wine cellar to pinball and pool table. Host was very communicative... although not all the messages were received timely, due to lack of phone coverage (on my part). Although power was out to the community, the whole house generator served us well, all were quite comfortable. Look forward to visiting again. Would definitely recommend.
Note: driveway was extremely icy on arrival, its steepness and narrowness proved to be challenge and limited parking to one vehicle at the top of driveway.. however, overflow parking was available just a short distance from the property. Host was quick to convey where we could find rock salt and shovels for the drive way. We had a wonderful stay.

Great winter getaway
My family of 7 had a blast at this property! There was so much snow and no power, but this home was all set up with a generator that kept us going for the week! Such a blessing to sled right outside and enjoy movies downstairs. Domonique was a fabulous communicator as well!

Comfortable house with fancy touches like trash compactor, pinball machine, pool table
Would stay here again, comfortable with great amenities! I would suggest homeowner install hook for towel/clothes for the bathroom the bottom level and find a way to keep the water contained in the showers.

Amazing Family Vacation
We do a family vacation each year and we found this place and we were so pleased. The house is so amazing. With all the bedrooms and the movie theater set up in the bottom area and pool table, pinball machine the kids and adults were in heaven. The kitchen was so spacious and beautiful. We were on the deck just relaxing and playing games together. The lake is so close. We had paddle boards of our own and the had 2 there we were allowed to use. Great communication with the owners on the issue of the air conditioning but they were talking care of it the best way possible. Beautiful area and would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I don't know if anything that I write here would be able to do justice painting the picture of how amazing this house and property owner was. Check-In: The check-in process was a breeze thanks to Dominique. She reached out to us well ahead of our trip. She made sure that we had a manual for the home that gave us all relevant information and she shared our unique door code. She also made sure to think of things like cell service and making sure that we had downloaded offline maps for the area. Communication with Owner: I cannot say enough for this part. Dominique was amazing. Before check-in, during the stay and during check-out she. She was always available by VRBO site or text. She helped us figure out features/needs at the home, but also shared tips and to-dos with us to make sure that we got the most out of our stay as we could (we loved the Red Apple). The home: This place was AWESOME!! Normally when you stay at a rental home it feels like they made it just nice enough to pass. Not this place! Our kids have told us they want to live here instead of their own home. The kids (and adults) loved the downstairs with the pool table, pinball machine and home theater (got to watch Kong VS Godzilla on this!). The gourmet was nicer than anything I have ever cooked in and made meal prep fun and enjoyable. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were all very nice and made our stay in the woods super comfortable. I will make a small note here that if you are staying in the main upstairs bedroom keep in mind that it is a loft and so you will hear any early risers. That said it was fine for us as our kids and dogs made sure that 7am was as late as we would sleep in. Finally, the back deck overlooking the woods was the cherry on top for us. We got to enjoy early morning coffees out there and late night fire chats around the new fire pit. Check-out: Super easy and clear thanks to the home manual and quick replies from Dominique for any questions I had. Both families look forward to staying at your home again. Thanks Dominique and family!!!!
