Wonderful authentic Maine Cottage; plenty of room; nicely stocked; great location. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed with a large group for a family wedding. The house was large enough for everyone to be comfortable, and was very well equipped. However, there were a few issues- the en-suite bathroom on the 3rd floor was described as “not renovated “. This turned out to mean no shower in the tub and separate hot and cold faucets for the sink. The water for that toilet was not turned on, although we managed to fix that. The other bathroom on the third floor was more modern but curiously did not have an outlet, and the ceiling was in need of repair.
The rooms on all the other floors were lovely and updated, beds were comfortable too.

Great family place. The house is 100 years old and rich with history, old photos and many antiques that harken back to a simpler time. Some of the furniture is definitely dated, but It has a nicely updated large kitchen and wonderful porch to overlook Gilpatrick Cove. The house was nicely stocked. Overall, we loved the experience and would rent again.

We stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was the most lovely house for our friends and family to stay in with us. Enough space for us all the spread out, but also come together and visit. Beautiful kitchen, warm living room with easy to use fireplace and beautiful patio with yard looking over the water. We rented the attached apartment but had we not, it would have been a bit strange to have a larger group here in such close quarters with people in the apartment also since there’s not a lot of privacy between to two spaces but it worked out perfectly for us! Will never ever forget our stay here. It was magical!

Our family stayed here for a week and had a great time. The location of the house is lovely and the house is spacious and the rooms are nicely arranged. The kitchen is wonderful as is the porch and living room space. The 2nd floor bathrooms are attractively renovated. We were greeted by a huge vase of flowers, which was great. Overall I highly recommend, but there are some issues. We did notice that the photos make the master bedrooms look much more elegant than they are. The bedrooms, particularly the large 3rd floor bedroom, are pretty run-down. The walls need painting and some of the furniture is in disrepair. The 3rd floor bathroom and closet are pretty sad looking. We also couldn’t get the front door to lock, which didn’t seem like much of a problem since the neighborhood seems so safe.

Big and cozy house
The house was great, very big, just enough space for everyone, well equipped with everything you might need. The only thing - looks like bedrooms on the third floor need some fresh paint on the walls.
The backyard was even better, such a beautiful view at the water and forest.
We did yoga on the patio on sunny day and it felt so good.
Good location, and communication
Thank you for hosting us.

Beautiful House, Perfect Location
This house was lovely. Perfectly clean, beautifully remodeled bathrooms and kitchen. The location on the bay was incredible with amazing views and so close to Bar Harbor without the business. I would love to give it 4.5 stars, we had just a few issues, it felt more like a duplex than the listing made it sound. You share the entire kitchen/family room wall with the “guest house” and only a hook and eyelet on our side of the shared kitchen door kept us apart. The guest house had no way whatsoever to lock us out. That felt odd. Our other issue was the doors. The front door can only be unlocked from the outside, the patio door could not be locked no matter how hard we tried, bedroom doors would not close, and my kids locked themselves in the third floor bathroom with an almost impossible to unlock door. The weather was perfect while we were there otherwise the lack of central heat may be an issue. Having said that, those were rather minor issues, the house was so spacious and so charming and otherwise perfect for our needs. We would absolutely go back.
