We had a wonderful time enjoying Jake and Jenn's home! Loved the bright open interior and amenities as well as the deck and surrounding woods and wetlands. Lots to do close by - even in the rain. You do have to be careful walking on the road in front as can be fair amount of traffic at times; after short distance will be on quieter roads including the walk to Porters Preserve (amazing spot!).

My friend and I felt very relaxed at this house. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with most every cooking equipment needed. The host answered any question I had very quickly and supplied information about the surrounding area. It was a great place to unwind!

Thank you for a lovely stay. We biked, hiked, swam, and ate around Barters Island, Boothbay, and coastal ME. Yours is a lovely cottage with great amenities to come home to.
Cheers!

It was so nice to call this cozy house our home for a week! It had everything we needed and more! The location was was wonderful and central to so much. My son loved having the loft area as his own space. The owners of this home were very welcoming, kind and responsive! I wish we could have stayed longer! We would love to stay here again in the future!

This was a perfect getaway for us. The home was lovely and very clean. Had everything we could need/want including a sweet welcome gift from the owners. Home is exactly as described and pictured. Location is convenient to everything in the area. We gave 4 stars for location only because we couldn't walk the neighborhood as there aren't sidewalks and it's a somewhat busy road. But having said that there are endless trails and paths everywhere to walk. We visited a different one every day and there were plenty more that we didn't get to. We definitely would recommend this home and would stay here again for sure. Boothbay Harbor is a special area. We've been here several times and will return again.

Loved this little gem - perfect for two adults who wanted separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Extremely private setting, and lots of modern touches. In wonderful - new - condition.

We had a wonderful stay at the very cozy cottage. Every possible amenity was provided which speaks to the thoughtful owners concern that we thoroughly enjoy our experience. The house is perfectly situated in Boothbay which allows easy access to two of our favorite activities: hiking Boothbay Region Land Trust trails and the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens and eating out at the fine Boothbay restaurants (although for all you cooks, the house has all state of the art appliances you could possibly ask for). All in all we had a very comfortable stay thanks to owners Jake and Jenn.

Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was very clean. Everything was provided. We enjoyed sitting around the fire on the cool evenings. Boothbay is a friendly little town. My husband and I loved hiking the trails. Jenn was very helpful providing info on where we could launch our boat. We kook forward to a return trip.

The location of this home is perfect. Close to Boothbay Harbor but far enough away for some peace and quiet. Porter Preserve, Boothbay Harbor Land Trust are beautiful with amazing views and great easy hiking.
Jenn and Jake did not miss a thing. They are great hosts. Their property has everything you could possibly need. The fire pit is a great way to end the day. We felt so comfortable and even saw a few deer. We hope to be back real soon. Thank you for a great vacation.

The house is gorgeous. Extremely clean and well equipped. The best part for us was the beds were firm and comfortable. We slept just as good as we do at home which you don’t get often when traveling. Our 8 and 6 yr old enjoyed the roomy upstairs loft all to themselves. The stairs to the loft can be tricky at first, but you get used to them. The fire pit was perfect for after dinner and we took advantage of the front porch for several meals. The stovetop was a bit tricky at first. You can’t use a burner unless the pan covers the entire burner due to sensors. So if you are trying to percolate espresso the old fashion way :), it won’t work. The owners graciously leave stocked pods for the Nespresso machine.
Boothbay harbor and the surrounding towns are all lovely to explore. Our highlights were paddle boarding on Knickerbocker Lake, Ocean Point and Hendricks Head Beach.
You can’t go wrong with this house or this part of Maine.

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Jenn and Jake's place. It was perfect for a family of four. The place was extremely clean and well equipped for everything our family needed to have a comfortable stay. The location was quiet and private, yet close to all the stores the area had to offer. The owners were also very responsive, and cordial, when minor problems did arise.

We had an amazing week on Barters Island near Boothbay Harbor. Great location. A pristine house with every amenity you could need. We were sad to leave!

We really enjoyed our stay at Jake and Jen's retreat on Barter Island. The property had all of the amenities of home and a wonderful open concept. This was a great place for our family of four to rest, relax and enjoy spending quality time together. Thank you for hosting us.

This was exactly what we were searching for! Perfect for our family with young children, there was plenty of room inside for games on rainy days and room to run outside. The fire pit was wonderful to gather around on the chilly nights and check out the Milky Way. We walked the trails at the Porter Preserve nightly and loved exploring the rocks and beach. The cabin is beautiful and clean with everything we needed for the week and is close enough to everything to be convenient but far enough out to be peaceful and quiet. We had an amazing time and hated to leave. Jenn and Jake you have done a wonderful job and we will definitely stay again if we return to the area.

Every detail was considered, amenities thought of, special touches, and perfectly clean. Our family had a lovely stay, enjoying dinners on the deck and nights by the fire. Our only issue was with the construction of the house, which seemed less than desirable in certain instances. Every step that someone takes in the house can be felt in all other rooms. Every time a door closes the entire house shakes. The screen door slams very loud. These aspects are quite unnerving and do detract from the peaceful nature of the environment. Indoor dining is also not ideal but thankfully the weather held up and we could eat outside. The overall stay was quite lovely and you can tell the owners have gone above and beyond with all of their considerations and details.

This experience has been a great one! Jenn and Jake so open to questions/concerns! Immaculate home! Had our meals on the shady and private deck! House comfortable with many upgrades! Everything is "10 minutes away"! So many gorgeous preserves with lovely views! A few choices for morning walk which was my favorite! Thank you for a lovely vacation!

Amazing stay in Maine
We couldn’t have asked for a better place. From the nice touches of the nespresso coffee, a fully furnished kitchen to cook with and everything you need for the basics it was perfect. The fixtures were all fresh and clean and the cabin felt modern and cozy.
I would highly recommend this as its close to the botanical gardens and get regular visits from deer and other wildlife.
Our only small recommendation is more comfortable beds. The mattresses were very stiff and hurt our backs, but otherwise an amazing stay.

Incredibly well appointed and thought out cottage. We all had a wonderful time. The local restaurants brewery and scenery were enjoyed by all. Thanks for sharing your beautiful house with us

a blissful week away
We had an amazing time at Jenn & Jake's beautiful home. They have truly thought of everything in the house, and has all the comforts and then some of being in your own home! Two different style coffee makers, high end pots and pans, super comfortable mattresses! All within walking distance to Porters Preserve which was a treasure, and Trevetts market! We spent most of our time on the large secluded deck enjoying steamed lobsters from Pinkhams Market / drinking coffee, just hanging out! If you happen to find a week open at this home, I would not hesitate... Its one of the best home and locations we've ever stayed at! Thank you to Jenn and Jake for sharing this with us!

A Perfect Stay
Incredible home in an incredible location. The house is in great shape with top of the line appliances and everything you would need (lobster pot, fire pit, patio etc.) It's less than 10 minutes to downtown Boothbay, but you could never leave the island and be very happy. Porters Preserve is a short walk away as is the General Store. 100% recommend!

Fantastic Stay in Boothbay (Barters Island)
This is our third time visiting the Boothbay Harbor area and by far the best rental. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed for a weeklong stay. Modern touches in a bucolic setting; although mere minutes from the center of town, it felt like we were secluded. We could not have asked for a better stay!

Awesome Retreat!
Woodland Cottage is a great place to get away in a beautiful area. It is tastefully decorated and clean, has a super kitchen, and all the amenities you would need to feel right at home.
It was definitely a pleasure and we hope to stay again!
Great restaurants, other activities and of course the ocean are a short drive. Thank you!

A perfect stay in every way!
Everything was smooth and easy from the moment we booked. Excellent communication with Jake and Jenn. Timely delivery of the final details including access etc. Access was easy with a key code. The house was amazing, spotlessly clean and perfect for the two of us and our little dog. Everything was very comfortable including the beds (and we are a bit fussy!).
Jake and Jen thought of everything when they outfitted their cottage. We didn't want for anything, even a large lobster pot, crackers, picks etc.
We hope to return soon.

Wonderful home, great location
The home was just terrific -- super clean, beautifully furnished, and a great location to enjoy all of mid-coast Maine. The hosts have thought of everything - the kitchen is very well equipped, there are plenty of nice thick bath and beach towels to use, the deck is well-furnished, the beds comfy, and the living room was perfect for reading, relaxing, and watching TV. The info the hosts left about local restaurants and sights was super helpful. A perfect Maine get-away. We will recommend to friends and we will return.

Exceptionally welcome, clean and well appointed home. Owners a pleasure to deal with. Many small touches that made it an easy rental. High end extra comfy mattresses and very modern appliances. Easy access to Boothbay Harbor, and many hikes. Would definitely return for another vacation. Very Comfortable for two couples.

Amazing!!!
My family and I have stayed at numerous vacation rentals in the northeast area, but this one definitely made us feel welcome, and at home. Jenn and Jake made us feel like we were part of their little family. The check in process was a breeze, and the property was ready to go. And the location was amazing, perfect for walks on the beach, or hikes on the coast. We are definitely looking forward to staying at this property again!

Woodland Cottage was exceptional!
The Woodland Cottage exceeded our expectations. The furnishings were warm and cozy and everything you could possibly need was made available. The tranquil setting was lovely but was also close enough that it was easy to go exploring in town. There were also a few short hikes close by which were great. We highly recommend this cottage.

Very nice, NEW property
Property very clean with new, state of the art appliances. Good location, ample parking. Very comfortable mattresses. All cleaning supplies are provided to assist in maintenance of eco-friendliness and septic system. Hosts were very responsive and helpful.
Storage is quite limited because both bedroom closets are filled with either water handling equipment or shelving for linens and other supplies and equipment
limiting hang ups and out-of -sight suitcase storage.

The Woodland Cottage was perfect for our anniversary celebration with family. The cottage is located in a quiet area of Barters Island making it calm and peaceful and away from the crowds in Boothbay Harbor. The home itself was clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the comforters/bedding on the bed are of high quality. The home was well stocked for in-home cooking. The furniture was new and comfortable and the family enjoyed playing charades many evenings in the living room. The spiral staircase was a joy for the little ones who liked climbing to their own hide-away loft area. Porter Preserve is 1/2 mile away from the home and the family enjoyed the hike with fabulous views and the serenity of being the only people walking the trail that particular day. There are several restaurants about 5 to 15 minutes away from the home that we enjoyed. Robinsons Wharf, Boothbay Lobster Wharf, & Fisherman's Wharf are just a few we really enjoyed eating at. We were also able to schedule a whale watching cruise and it was amazing!! We actually were able to see several humpback whales breach again and again! We enjoyed Sarah's Ice cream Scoops (maybe a little too much) and downtown shopping. Parking is a little tough during the busy dinner time rush, but otherwise we were able to find parking right away. Overall, we would highly recommend The Woodland Cottage and Boothbay Harbor for a great place to vacation!! Our entire week was relaxing, peaceful and the whole family really enjoyed themselves. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had about the home prior to renting the cottage and after, when we discovered a missing towel. The little touches from the owners welcoming us to their home made us feel so happy we chose this cottage for our vacation! We are excited to see some other updates they will be implementing for the 2022 season! Thank you again Jake & Jenn for allowing us to utilize your home for our anniversary celebration/vacation! :)

Great little cottage in Maine — tucked away in the woods near Boothbay. We vacationed from Ohio and we’re thrilled with the house. Recently renovated with lots of new furniture, appliances and fixtures. The owners were very helpful and responsive and answered a lot of questions before the stay. They even gave us a nice welcome gift and message. It’s in a secluded area, about a 10 minute ride from Boothbay Harbor where you can kayak, SUP, go on whale watching tours, shop, eat ice cream. The location was perfect if you’re looking for those amenities but prefer to stay away from the crowds. There’s a small nature preserve — Porters Preserve about an easy 1/2 mile walk from the house which is a hidden treasure for an easy hike and gorgeous views. There’s a lot to do within a close area — we went swimming at Knickerbocker Lake, kayaking and SUP in the harbor, took day trips to Brunswick/Bath/Freeport and Acadia, did yoga and went on several hikes/walks. There’s plenty of other things to do as well including the nearby Botanical Gardens..The house itself is beautiful — newly decorated — comfortable with two bedrooms and a loft with two twin beds. Getting up and down to the loft is on a spiral staircase and the ceilings up there are low — which could be difficult for some— but worked well for our two youngest teenage kids. There were plenty of amenities — cooking utensils, pots and pans, a nespresso machine with coffee pods,, plenty of bathroom and beach towels. You can eat outside on the patio. If I were to nitpick and bring out my suburban self, no regular coffee machine (although a store with coffee 1/4 mile down the road where you can go every morning) and no grill. We didn’t steam lobsters, but there is a steamer and the tools to do it if you like,.All in all, a great property,, quiet relaxing setting, attentive and helpful owners. Our vacation was great and exactly what we were looking for — a comfortable, nice secluded (but not too secluded) place to wind down, spend quality time together and relax in Maine. Thanks Jenn and Jake.
