My wife and I took our two adult children (Twins age 36) and two dear friends we've had for more than 50 years. Weather was perfect. (God's gift) Everyone loved the "Canal" home in every aspect. The setting was amazing right there on water's edge. We loved sitting on the deck enjoying the ebb and flow of the tidal waters. Three of us attended the annual "OysterFest" in Shelton. . . was sujper enjoyable. The home was beautifully designed and decorated. Beds were wonderful. My son enjoyed getting familiar with the row boat that awaiting us on the dock. He did fairly well for first time. We honestly didn't go off site much. . . wanted to take advantage of being together in this lovely home. Did mention how wonderful "all" the beds were ! We love Hood Canal area in general . . . and this home was honestly a beautiful serendipity. Must add: Kerry, the property manager provided us with important and very rapid assistance.

Our overall stay could not have been better. Because we couldn’t figure out our television controls, we spent four days “unhooked” from the world. Our only negative was the heat upstairs at night. However, we figured out a fan system which allowed us to be more comfortable during the three hottest days of summer.

Great view. Lovely to sit on the covered deck with a cup of coffee in the morning. Nearby trails for good walks.

Very happy with this property
We are happy with the arrival and happy with the furnished amenities. We stayed at many places and sometimes we have to buy our own toilet papers or paper towels, for instant. It's not much and we can't bother for such little things. Best if we can have few crab pots to enjoy the stay more.

The Hood Canal house
We love this property. It is at a great location on the canal and has a really nice deck and dock which is not always easy to find. The kids love beach combing for shells and hermit crabs and other little creatures. The beds are comfortable. My only suggestion is that the upstairs shower be replaced. It is looking really shabby. I called Greg about some housekeeping issues and he was very receptive and apologetic. He is always easy to get in touch with and gets things taken care of. We will be back

Fantastic!
Really nice place and great location on the Canal! Owner and property manager are excellent. Having a dock is a huge plus. The deck with comfy sofa and electric heater extends the living area!! Would stay again!!

Practically perfect in every way!
We had a wonderful week in Hood Canal in this beautiful location. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms were spacious and there was plenty of room for two families of 5. The only real issue was the weather. We happened upon two of the hottest days on record and the upstairs was not air conditioned. The main level was lovely! Greg was super helpful and responsive to any questions. Another caution is the header on the ramp to the dock. When the tide comes in the dock raises and the header becomes a head bonk hazard for anyone over 5’6”. The sunsets were beautiful, the location was perfect! We had so much fun in Union. They had cute shops, great food and delicious ice cream. Alderbrook was only one mile away and we hiked the trails several times. We would LOVE to come back!

Peaceful setting, house as advertised
Our family had a relaxing week on Hood Canal. The setting was amazing. Lots of rest time on the deck watching the gently flowing water and the scenic mountains. The sunsets and sunrise were incredible.
We saw seals pop their heads up to look around multiple times each day, and when we'd take the boat out to row around a bit, usually one would pop their head up to watch us. Our youngest daughter loved to play in the shallow water and watch all the little crabs scurry around. Other boats would go by occasionally and we enjoyed watching a pontoon plane land on the water, but in general it was just very quiet and peaceful.
The house itself is exactly as pictured. Comfortable and pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

Magical and luxurious perch
Union is a great Hood Canal location, right at the "Big Bend." We enjoyed the setting and the comfortable home. High tide laps right up to the retaining wall of the deck and I loved sitting there for hours watching the birds with binoculars that were kindly provided. This deck, and the whole house, are designed for kicking back and soaking in the quiet. We also liked watching a movie on the large smart tv. Although the entrance through the garage has a flight of stairs into the main house, there is a barrier-free access to the main floor and master bedroom at the side of the garage. The three (or was it four?) other bedrooms are on the upper level. There were just three of us but it would be a great choice for a larger group. We hope to come back!

We had a wonderful time ringing in the new year on Hood Canal. With five teen/young adult sons and my daughter-in-law, we were a group of seven and the house had plenty of room for us all. The bedrooms are spacious and pleasant, and it's convenient to have several bathrooms. It's easy to feel genuinely at home here; we enjoyed hanging out in the living room, dining in the "sun room", and playing cards, etc at the game table. The most fabulous thing about the property is the location; it's absolutely terrific to be directly on the water. The entire front of the house facing the canal is a wall of windows and when the tide is high, you have the sense of being on a houseboat. Staying on Hood Canal, with easy access to a beaches, parks, and hikes on the east side of the Olympics, is a quintessential PNW experience and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Having said all that, we had a few annoyances/challenges with the house. One disappointment was the lack of a heating element in the porch heater. I still bundled up and enjoyed my morning coffee out there, but we couldn't genuinely take advantage of this aspect of the property. More significant was the lack of good cookware. Our winter stay in pandemic times meant cooking a lot of meals, and it was often a real pain. The cupboards are jam packed, but a majority of the pots and pans are in shabby condition, and something as simple as a vegetable peeler or decent large frying pan weren't on hand. If I were the owner and/or property manager, I'd take advantage of the long spells without guests to do an inventory, organize, and do a deep clean and update kitchen-wise. All in all, I'd definitely consider staying here again, but more attention to detail would make this a five star property for me.

Beautiful mornings
We had a great time at this rental. The house is spacious and provided ample room for us to spread out. The water was at your fingertips and the view was stunning. The mornings were particularly beautiful and we woke for every sunrise. I watched the fog slowly lift off the Hood Canal and reveal Tahuya across the fjord. The price was reasonable. The manager was easily accessible. No complaints. We would rent this place again.

Family weekend
It was a lovely weekend with family! The views are wonderful. We had a family member in a wheelchair, and it was hard to find a place that could accommodate. This property is ADA accessible, just know the walkway to get in through the back is a bit steep! Kitchen has everything you need, the small boat was enjoyed and appreciated the life jackets available (for kids too). The house was very cold when we got there and took awhile to warm up, but it was a great visit!

Above average vacation rental
House was above and beyond what you'd expect from a vacation rental. It's clear the owners's standards are high and we very much appreciated it. One of the most enjoyable amenities is the covered and heated patio with high quality outdoor padded furniture so regardless of the weather, you can spend much of the time outside. Greg was extremely responsive. We'll likely be back.

Perfect getaway
We loved this property for its location but also because it was really child safe with fencing blocking access to the road and gates keeping the little ones out of the water . The dock is great and the beach is perfect.
