About this apartment rental
First floor in-town apartment with 3 bedrooms, (2 Bedrooms with Queen Bed, 1 Bedroom with Full bed) 1 bathroom with tub/shower, full kitchen, living room, dining room and private laundry facilities.
We provide books, games, TV & WiFi for rainy days and down time. The space is great for a flexcation or vacation year round. There is also a small nook with desk and chair for work or personal duties.
Formerly a physician's office, you may notice the quirky layout. The dining room occupies the original receptionist's office. The bedrooms are former exam rooms. The living room used to be the waiting area, etc. We hope you enjoy the history of the building as much as we do!
The flat is in a great location, on a side street just a few steps away from bakeries, restaurants and other goods and services. We are equidistance in each direction to Bar Island, Hannaford's Grocery, and amenities such Cadillac Mountain Sports, Rosalies Pizza, Criterion Theatre, and Side Street Cafe. Walk to it all!

As lifelong locals, we feel like this is one of the best spots in town. You can walk out your door and be steps away from a local bakery, old fashioned candy store, brewery, shopping and dining. You are also equidistance from the local grocery store (Hannaford's) and restaurants and retail. It is the best of both. We love to be able to offer 2 free parking spaces with the rental, which is rare in town.

The physician flat was the perfect location for walking around Bar Harbor. It was filled with all of the little things we didn’t know we needed. And the owners had suggestions for everything from where to eat to the best hiking trails to good running routes. Would definitely recommend staying here. We were there with our 4 daughters. Everyone loved the flat, the town and Acadia.

We loved our stay at the Physician's Flat Condo. The location was perfect—a one-minute walk to restaurants and shops and a very easy drive to Acadia Park. The amenities in the condo made our time even more enjoyable, and the hosts left a goodie basket, which was so thoughtful and appreciated. The hosts were very communicative and responded immediately to our concerns (we had a little trouble with the lock on the front door). We will definitely go back.

Such a wonderful home away from home for my family for the last few days. We enjoyed the location so very much. Convenient to everything - we walked to shops, restaurants, bike rentals, the sand bar/Bar Island and event the Grocery! The home has so many little touches that go above and beyond. The basket of local snacks were clutch when we drove in from Portland Sat night after 11 pm! The coffee station was amazing with everything you need even Before you go to the store! Bathroom shelves stocked! And we used the laundry more than I thought we would - everything provided! We also really appreciated the ziplock bags & to-go cups with lids - we packed snacks for our rides and hikes, and took coffee to Cadillac sunrise! It made everything just so much easier on me!!! My daughter and I read the Welcome notebook front to back and even took a pic of the restaurant list - and we used so many of your tips/suggestions! If you are planning to go to Bar Harbor - THIS is the place to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Physician’s Flat! It was exactly as pictured and right in the center of town, just a short drive to Acadia. The rental was very comfortable and very well decorated. It had all of the essentials, and then some. We’ve stayed in a lot of VRBOs and this definitely ranked at the top! We would absolutely recommend and would return.
The area itself is amazing - we loved exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor and surrounding towns.

Lovingly preserved historic property with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The home was very comfortable with good mattresses, sofas and great appliances. It was well stocked with no scrimping on anything and very straightforward guidelines. The hosts also left lots of rainy day activities for kids and terrific guidebooks for hikers. We would definitely stay here again

We all throughly enjoyed our stay at the physicians flat in downtown Bar Harbor. It was walking distance to downtown, w walking distance to the grocery store and conveniently located to drive to Acadia! You could even bike to the biking trails if you are motivated!
They had everything you need to cook and have a comfortable stay. We highly recommend this Vacation home and plan on returning next year! The owners are very responsive and helpful! You can tell that they truly care about your experience!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this property. The host was very responsive and helpful and there were many thoughtful touches in the condo.
We especially enjoyed the easy walk to restaurants and the waterfront and the shops of Bar Harbor.

This flat was charming and fun especially because it has a great story. It is perfectly located so that we could walk everywhere in town. There was plenty of room for relaxing. Our hosts set up the the place with special welcoming things like a snack basket, coffee station, cozy blankets, and a booklet with helpful hints about where to go and what to do in the area. They obviously love their home town and want you to enjoy your stay. We would come back next week if we could.

We could not have asked for a better home away from home! We truly appreciate the care and thoughtfulness with which you stocked and equipped the flat. There were little surprises all around the house. This was a birthday treat for our daughter and the stay here made it special. Thank you 🙏:)

We enjoyed our stay at this adorable flat and absolutely loved being able to walk to incredible views, shops and restaurants in minutes. The flat is comfortable and well stocked with little extras like coffee, snacks, & toiletries. We did not need to shop for anything during our stay. Desiree was a great communicator and the recommendations in the book were spot on. Some of our favs: Beehive hike (for some of us, not all who couldn't handle heights), Ocean Path hike, ebikes on Carriage path, Sunrise at Cadillac Mountain (book online two days before and daughter had brilliant idea to refresh screen after 15 minutes if it sells out right at 10am because everyone has 15 minutes to complete the registration). Not enough time to try all of the wonderful places to eat, but loved Cafe This Way, Rosalies, La Brun, Havana, Merchant & Frye, Side Street Cafe, MDI Icecream.

Our family stayed here in August to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This property was everything we needed and more. Just the right size and all the convenience of home. The owners were fantastic with communication and very kind. The location (and parking!!!) just can’t be beat. We loved it here and hope to come back!

Super clean, comfortable, spacious, comfy chic, and with everything you could possibly need thought of for you. Location could not be better, walk to anything in Bar Harbor. Host provides clear book with directions for anything related to the house and recommendations for anything you could think of wanting to do. Communication before was excellent. We enjoyed the place so much, when weather wasn’t awesome, we chose to watch a movie at “home” and all were super comfy in the family room for our family of 5. Loved the thoughtful coffee supplies, snack basket and extra toiletries should we have needed any. Super handy to have washer, dryer and really thought of everything! Tremendous place and hosts.

Perfect location and cozy-loved having breakfast in the bright front dining room and the coffee bar was a great little treat! Beds were super comfy, loved having laundry available! There was some noise early in the morning from an excavator right out the backyard but other than that absolutely perfect!

This ground floor property was exceptionally clean. It had three comfortable beds, good seating in the living room and dining room, and excellent lighting to read by. The location was great, just short distance to the grocery store, and a short distance to downtown and the shops and restaurants. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Physicians Flat property enhanced our four days in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. It is conveniently located on a quiet, one way street of beautiful homes and only a few minutes walking distance to a grocery store and city center. It is also only a few minutes by care to the Acadia National Park entrances.
The property is spacious, attractively decorated/furnished, and allows for a lot of natural light. We were fortunate to have such a comfortable space to stay, especially during one of the days that rained and kept us primarily inside.
Desiree contacted us well before our trip to Maine and provided us with immediate answers to our questions about Bar Harbor and other towns on our route up the coast from Portland.

We loved our stay at the Physicians Flat! Plenty of space and it was super clean. Best part though we were in walking distance to coffee shops in the morning and restaurants in the evening!! We will definitely be back!!

My mother, sisters and I spent Labor Day weekend in Bar Harbor. This was the Perfect property for our needs. It was short steps to main street, an easy walk to watch the sunrise in the harbor, and plenty of space for us to feel comfortable during our stay. The unit had a washer/dryer (great for traveling light and cleaning up after hiking) and kitchen with all basic necessities. There were plenty of towels/blankets for all of us, and Roku for late-night movie watching. We had a (very) minor water issue during our stay - which I only mention to highlight the speed and efficiency with which Desiree and her family communicated and assisted. These hosts deserve their 5-star ratings! If traveling to Bar Harbor and you want something more comfortable and cozier than a hotel, this is a Great option!

Fantastic location, thoughtful amenities
We stayed at the Physicians’ Flat for 5 nights while visiting Bar Harbor & Acadia. The location of this home cannot be beat. We walked daily into town for odds & ends (including popovers from The Stadium - don’t waste your time at Pond House)! It’s a 5min walk from Shore Path and sandbar to Sand Beach. House was stocked with necessities, as well as additional thoughtful touches such as fresh honey and extra toiletries. It was the perfect size for our party (3 adults, 2 younger children). Check-in was a breeze. My one piece of helpful information would be: there is another rental property which has shared walls as well as a 2nd floor (above this Flat). You can hear those above you, which wasn’t an issue for us per se because our kids are heavy sleepers, but some nights the footsteps were loud well into late hours. All in all, we had a great time!

This property was perfect for our family of four. It was clean and had everything we needed. Just about one block from the main street in town made it convenient for eating and shopping. In between outings it was a quiet place to relax. Easy drive to Acadia park and beaches. Off-street parking made everything simple. Would absolutely stay here again!

The hosts were very communicative and friendly. We were a little disappointed that there’s no dishwasher in the unit, but otherwise we found it well-appointed and very clean and family-friendly. We LOVED our stay here! So close to town and amenities. The quirky flat and it’s history made it a fun little gem to stay at in such a quaint and beautiful town. Desiree was a delight to work with and provided all kinds of insider tips for our stay. We had a truly wonderful time :)
