About this house rental
City of Durango LUP-14-243
Our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom single level home is just a 5 minute walk to historic downtown Durango and all of the downtown restaurants, shops and entertainment including the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum. The recently remodeled cottage was originally a miners home in the late 1800s. The home is also less then a 10 minute walk to Santa Rita Park and the Animas River (with great fishing and a 5 mile trail along the river).
The home features great outdoor space including a front porch and large fenced backyard with seating and a BBQ grill. There is also off street parking for 2 cars. The home has Roku and fast WIFI and the TV is a smart TV so you can access your favorite streaming services (Netflix, Disney etc.)
Bed Configuration:
1st - Queen - Main Level
2nd - Queen - Main Level
Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Vacation Rental Collective has the perfect Durango Vacation Rental, Durango Cabin, Durango AirBnB, or Durango VRBO for you and your group! Whether you're hiking, fishing, biking, skiing at Purgatory Ski Resort, or enjoying Durango’s one-of-a-kind restaurants VRC has your perfect private lodging accommodations.

My husband and 5yo twins and I had a lovely week in Durango. We were there for the Peaks and Tides sailing school which was the best camp my kids participated in all summer. We were glad to be able to walk to downtown restaurants and to bike to the Animas River Trail and Santa Rita playground. The house was great for our week stay... there is a nice kitchen and lovely outdoor space in the front and back. The house provided the basics for cooking (pots, pans, plates, etc), but we needed to buy our own salt, coffee, and Kleenex. The management company was the best I've ever dealt with in terms of communication.

The houses not as clean as we expected. There is no air condition and should be cleared explained as we stayed during a heatwave. And were available but no air conditioning. There is almost no level floor within the house. The ice maker did not work. The location to town attracted us but we will not use it again. All electric plugs at floor level? not sure that meets code. Someone bought a house close to town, made a less than professional attempt of remodel. This type of property should be in a special category in VRBO for lower expectations.

This block in Durango is quiet, with locals waving and saying hello as if you lived among them. You get to see the stars, hear the trains, see the deer/elk wonder through town, with the ease on parking close to the cottage. The home is adorable with any amenity you need. Our 3 week stay had us wanting to stay longer. Great host!

Nice but slightly dated house but very clean. Great location to enjoy local walks and downtown activities.

This is a cute house located blocks/walking distance from Main street Durango.
Street parking should be abundant except for all the neighbors park their vehicles around the front and side of house. There is parking in backyard area of house for a single vehicle though.
Also, while weather is typically great in Durango, if it is hot there is not AC in this house.
And last the whole house leans left and to the rear so be prepared for that. If you drop something that rolls, it's headed to the back door.

The cottage is lovely and a great location. A bit dated and "funky" but full of charm. Thanks!

Great spot close to town!

The house was conveniently located for my adventures in Durango, including walking distance to old town. The house was neat, clean and had everything needed for my stay. Checking in and out was very easy!

The front porch needed swept, first appearance!!!
Kitchen only had salt and pepper. So you’ll need everything, I travel a lot, the point of renting house is to cook meals. Every place I’ve been to has spices, oils, ketchup mustard, etc…. Would have been so expensive to buy everything.
Bathrooms usually have shampoo and conditioner etc… they had nothing but a very old sample.
Floors were dirty, house smelt so horrible of Lysol it was overwhelming.

Great! Even though I didn’t reserve enough nights customer service worked with me to stay one more night. Very courteous and accommodating.

We enjoyed staying at this home. It was just the right size for my husband and me: very clean & comfortable and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. There was a comfortable 2nd bedroom too, which our five-year old grandson enjoyed for a sleepover. The home is easy walking distance to historic downtown Durango and the neighborhood is a great place for walking and observing the Autumn colors.

The house was quaint and in a perfect location. Was easy to walk to Main St. and to the Durango/Silverton Railway. A good hub from which we traveled to Utah and New Mexico.

This home is an easy walk to downtown Durango. Cute little house that was clean and accommodating. Would stay there again.

The home is small and older, but well maintained. It worked perfect for our small family. We had a great place to call "home" at the end of the day, very comfortable and better than staying at a hotel. Also, it is very central to downtown and you don't get caught up in the traffic you do in other areas.

I want to start with the positives! The location was great and we literally walked everywhere. Bathroom and Kitchen was nice and clean. Plenty of towels.. The accolades stop there. The high price does not match the quality of this home. The foundation is faulty and the entire house leans down hill. The house was infested with spiders. There were cob webs EVERYWHERE. After walking around all day, we came back to find little black bugs crawling on the bed (not bed bugs). There was no AC in the house and we were aware of that. However, out of the very few fans they provided, only 2 worked. They instructed that we could open the windows and it would cool the house down. We did it all night and still had miserable night sleeping. 1, because it was hot! 2, we are not from this area and we didn’t know the safety of keeping windows open all night with our very small children sleeping in the bedrooms. That would keep any mother up. Lastly, in the back bedroom upon arrival, we checked under the bed (just a weird thing I do) someone’s dirty socks were still under there from previous visitors. Not that big of a deal, but still bothered me. They should most certainly invest in some bug and spider control, maybe a few more fans for the summer time.

Could be a 5+++
"Exterior" of property was a disgusting, filthy cob web infested, unkept mess. Pictures available. VRBO pictures are totally misleading. No excuse for this, I cleaned it up in 2 minutes with the garden hose. Everything about the interior was 5+++. Property manager did not response to my request for a floor fan to replace the one that did not work. Be prepared to add 68 per cent to the per night advertised rate for fees and tax for a 4 night stay.

Quaint and close to everything!

Walking distance to main street
We enjoyed our stay the cottage since it was walking distance to Main street, the train station and church. The front porch was a nice place to relax. The only downside was the second bedroom bed was a futon mattress which was very uncomfortable.

A number of strange vehicles parked adjacent to property. Definitely warped floors but not a big issue. Very responsive owners. Everything worked well. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly neighbors.

Dont stay here until they replace the beds.Terrible bed or whatever that was a folded up futon type bed with a horrible egg carton foam topper...I couldn't sleep in it. The other bed was very soft so my parents had a hard time sleeping as well.

Charming Victorian home
This darling home is only 4-5 blocks from downtown Durango and is in a charming quiet neighborhood. Bathroom is a bit small but is doable for 2....would be tough with 4 people staying in the house. Everything was as advertised....our only criticism is that the front porch was dirty and we didn’t know ahead of time that there was no tv.....neither was a big deal!

Great cozy place!
Check in was seamless, the location was great! We really enjoyed the backyard so much - had deer visit while we had coffee in the morning!

The cottage was perfect for my family of 4. We loved the history of the home, and my two girls affectionally called it “the slanted house” all week. We enjoyed living like the locals and being able to walk to historic downtown. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evenings, and the spacious backyard was a nice bonus. We ate many meals outside under the covered patio table. If you are looking for a local, neighborhood home, this is a perfect spot.

It was great to stay at an historic property, as well as one that was as conveniently located as this house is. The home is set up well for a small party; plenty of room for 2-4 people.

This is a very cute property and in excellent location to trails (3 blocks from Horse Gulch) and ~4 blocks to downtown. The house was tidy but found some small spiders in shower and didnt know it was slanted until we arrived. We got over it, just weird feeling when you 1st arrive. While the kitchen was well supplied, it was a mix/match of things. For the 5 star pricing (we rented 2 weeks) we felt we got 3 star quality. The property owners were nice as we met them when coming to take care of the yard. Would we stay here again? Maybe, especially if we could work out a better price for 2 or more weeks.
