About this house rental

Summary:
It's hard to sum up a property like Tuckerton Grange through photos and a few words: it's an incredible, one-of-a-kind place with something for everyone. Not only does the house sleep 14 guests, but the grounds are impressive enough. You'll find a large indoor pool house with a swimming pool plus slide and hot tub, tennis court and tennis pavilion, lake and lake house, games room, cinema room, treehouse, multiple sun terraces, and a stone circle with fire pit.

The Space:
You really could stay here for weeks on end and still not make the most of it!

Inside, the property is kitted out with everything you could ever need. There are a total of 7 bedrooms situated over two floors. The ground floor features a master bedroom with a super king sized bed and a luxurious Moorish styled en-suite bathroom with a bathtub tucked into an alcove; a bedroom with a pull out double day bed and three bedrooms with standard double beds. On the first floor, you will find one double bedroom and a twin room with two zip and link single beds which can convert into a large double. With high-quality mattresses and linens, you will certainly sleep comfortably here. Plus, there's ample storage so you can unpack your bags and really make yourselves at home. Three bedrooms have very spacious and luxurious en-suite bathrooms with separate baths, showers and sinks. The other bedrooms share a further family bathroom with a shower as well as a separate WC. There is also an additional bathroom in the pool house.

The large farmhouse kitchen is the perfect place to cook up feasts. Or we can arrange a private dining experience and you can have it done for you! It has all the expected amenities as well as a wine fridge, a 5 burner gas hob, a dishwasher, and a coffee machine. There is an extendable dining table for meals. Next door, the living room will certainly make you go "wow" with its high ceilings, modern lighting, piano mezzanine level, characterful wooden beams, and large wood burner. The three large sofas (one of which can be made into a sofa bed), smart TV, and board games make this a cosy space for relaxing. Whilst its double doors open directly onto the rear courtyard with a gym, and games room - featuring a pool table, foosball, table tennis, darts, and a bar.

Upstairs, off the mezzanine piano level, is the large cinema room featuring an HD 3D projector, surround sound and huge sofas. There is a PS4 games console with the main streaming apps, and a DVD player with a large selection of movie DVDs provided. This cinema is the perfect spot for a relaxing movie night with your family and friends.

The estate itself is a magical place consisting of 3 acres of maintained gardens and facilities. Swim in the heated pool; get competitive with a game of tennis; beat your friends at a game of pool: work out in the gym; meditate in the stone circle; contemplate nature from the lake house jetty; or just sit back and relax in the hot tub - you'll feel a million miles away from everywhere here and you definitely won't want to leave!

The gardens are a very special part of the property and span over three acres. The property is approached through large double gates, which open onto a treelined driveway. The garden to the front of the property is south facing and has a Mediterranean feel: find a large paved terrace that is approached from the kitchen. There is also a further lawn and a gravelled courtyard with a hot tub. You will also find an inside pool, pool house, tennis court, tennis pavilion, lake, lake house, treehouse, games room, gym, stone circle and fire pit area.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the whole estate.

The Neighborhood:
You're a stone throw from Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, which provides lovely walking opportunities. It also features a tea room, a canal side wine bar and the highly recommended Somerset Boat Centre where you can rented boats ranging from a paddle board all the way to a traditional canal long boat. There is a pub around 10 minutes walk from the property in North Newton and many other highly rated country pubs in the local area. Down the road from the property is Parsonage Farm cider mill - selling traditional strong and dry Somerset cider by the gallon!

Just over the motorway, you will find the Quantock Hills - a national nature reserve and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that spans over 38 miles. Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath and combe. Explore and you will find rocky Jurassic coastline, exposed heathland summits, deep wooded combes, undulating farmland and attractive villages all within this protected landscape. Beacon Hill and Bicknoller Hill are particularly fantastic walking spots in the north-west corner of the Quantocks, however you will find walking trails all over. Cothelstone Hill is a gorgeous walk that is only around 20 minutes away by car, whilst Wills Neck is a little further at 30 minutes.

The Quantocks were the much loved home poet Samuel Coleridge, and there has been a walking route created in his honour. The entire route is 51 miles in total with heathland, moorland, deciduous and coniferous woodland, farmland, deeply wooded valleys and historic villages with expansive views over the coast towards Wales. The trail starts at Nether Stowey, which is around 20 minutes from the property.

The National Trust's Fyne Court is a real hidden gem in the Quantocks and provides a brilliant day out for all ages. The large country house has beautiful gardens to explore, as well as a pretty tea room and plenty of varied wildlife to spot. They also host a number of a theatre productions during the year - please visit their website to see upcoming events. It is just a 15 minute drive away.

For more dramatic nature, it is worth visiting Cheddar Gorge - a limestone gorge that cuts deep into the Mendip Hills. Whilst kids will be amazed by the giant limestone caves at Woody Hole - plus they can go wild in its dinosaur theme park.

The coast is around 40 minutes drive from the property. Kilve Beach has pretty rockpools to enjoy at low tide and a large grassy area behind the beach which is ideal for picnics. Burham-on-Sea and Weston-Super-Mare are both traditional British seaside resorts. Weston has sweeping sandy beaches and a large Victorian pier.

Train buffs will love the steam engines and wooden carriages of the nearby West Somerset Railway - the longest heritage railway in England.

More shops, restaurants, supermarkets and amenities can be found in Taunton or Bridgwater - both just 15 minutes drive away.

Getting Around:
To make the most of your stay here, we would suggest bringing a vehicle with you. There is ample space on the driveway for 7 cars and the property is easily accessible from the M5.

That said, if anyone is travelling by public transport, there are regular fast trains trains from London and Cornwall to Taunton. Taunton station is then just a 15 - 20 minutes taxi ride to the property.

Other Things to Note:
Guest should be aware that there are multiple open bodies of water at the property and children should never be left unattended in these areas.

Dogs are welcome to stay on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.

External CCTV cameras are fitted for your safety and that of the property.

The property is very rural and has more temperamental internet than most are used to. We have tried to combat this by installing Starlink satellite WIFI in addition to the BT network. However, it is still not perfect. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything more that can be done until BT upgrades the local network to full fibre.

If you are interested in a private dining experience during your stay, please get in touch to find out more. Our contact can do both inside catering as well as gourmet BBQs. They can also arrange both bar and serving staff if you want to be fully wined and dined!

Please note, the tennis court is being resurfaced and will not be usable from 9th September to 7th October 2024.

Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Great outdoor space and Leisure outhouses but issue with gate not working. Swimming pool chemical balance was wrong ( badly stinging eyes ) and water felt cold ( to be fair was dealt with within 48hrs) The one and only tv doesn’t work regardless of instructions. No tv Ariel . Had to stream through a phone via wifi. Cinema room DVD works ok but Netflix not. 4 bedrooms share one shower room. Shower heads need cleaning and one shower bracket to hold it was loose so wouldn’t stay up. One wardrobe the hanging rail was so high we couldn’t reach. One bedroom the door wouldn’t close but had a bolt on the inside , seems small problem but really annoying when you have to get up out of bed to open door when people knock to come in. Cheap flat pack furniture wardrobe . Not able to open drawer and doors at the same time so again small problem but irritating. A couple of rooms had no wardrobes at all. Cobwebs on the beams. Generally inside the house weds a bit of TLC. Pre warned stingy on the loo rolls one one per toilet and only one towel each for the whole week. Just felt overall for the money paid it should be a higher standard. Other than that our family had a nice time.

Our stay at Tuckerton Grange was thoroughly enjoyed by all our party, with fantastic facilities, however, the description of the WiFi as “not as fast as you might be used to” is somewhat misleading. It is not possible to rely on it if you need to work.

Tuckerton Grange is a fantastic location for both family and friends. A whole host of things to do all within the grounds, hard to pick a favourite, but between a variety of children from age 9-20 they loved the pool, yoga room and games room. The house was lovely and clean on arrival with excellent communication with the owner both prior and throughout. The only downside was that we had to leave!

Lovely house and amenities. The main problem was having only one oven - we thought there were two as the photos indicated an Aga which in fact was out of order. It was difficult cooking for 10 without more oven space. The house says it takes up to 17 so it is difficult to see how that would be possible! There was also no heating in the kitchen and not as much space around the table. A pity as otherwise we had a lovely time
