On arrival my room had no bedding. I was then moved to another room with no bedding as well. The third room I was given had bedding but the heating did not work.
The duvet covers fit the bed correctly but the duvet inside is not the correct size leaving lots of loose material with no duvet inside, which doesnt help when the heating does not work.
The room does not have a secondary method of securely locking the door from the inside.
Other than this the staff were understanding and helpful.

Very welcoming and friendly stay in an historic hotel

Room had cobwebs and dead flies all over the sash windows that has obviously been there for some time. Disgusting. When complained room was changed immediately. Will never stay there again as a result that the management, cleaning management and staff think that it is acceptable to even offer the room in the standard.

We are not fans of complaining, but this hotel was a big disappointment. We arrived after a 5-hour journey only to be told that because they had been busy over the weekend prior, they would not be serving food, and that we’d need to go and get a takeaway…
That’s not really acceptable for any hotel in this day and age, even if we had been given prior notice.
Our room was generally dirty and unkempt - gangs of spiders on the inside of the windows and in the corners of the ceilings, dirty carpets and random stains on the walls and furniture. The room was also very noisy as there was no secondary glazing, and the main road outside was busy all night. The noise from the nearby airport also didn’t help.
The chairs in the bar, which wasn’t manned, were old and dirty, and this pretty-much summed up the hotel in general. It is in dire need of a refresh, and a big improvement in what it provides for the price it charges.
If we have to go to Donington again, we definitely won’t be staying in this hotel.
We’re sorry, but it needs to be a lot, lot better!

Just back from a great weekend. We were staying as at motorbike racing . We were made very welcome nothing was to much trouble.

Enjoyed my stay Hotel has a certain character about it should we say, rooms comfortable and very spacious they are a little tired though really crying out for a good clean and decorate. The satins on the carpet around the toilet just are not right. The staff were brilliant and told us the intention is to redecorate and give the place some TLC. Do this and you would get 5 stars from me.

Fantastically typically British with all the hospitality you would expect from such nice people.

Booked a standard King with ensuite, but was given a converted meeting room. Double bed was old and lumpy, pillow flat and lumpy. No ensuite, no dressing table, no wardrobes or chest of drawers - 2 clothes rails with 3 hangers - 1 bedside table. No curtains and the blinds at the front were defective. Very little effort has been made to make the meeting room actually feel like a bedroom. Kitchen extractor fan very noisy. On the plus side, we had access to the courtyard for the dogs, the manager and maintenance man were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

Friendly place, handy for Donington Park. Great food options around and a nice cat :)

We tried to check in at 2pm, but no staff was available. We missed out opportunity to tour the Nottingham caves as a result. Room was quaint but tired. Sink space was tiny, water pressure was low.

The hotel is perfect for a stay if you are going to the Race Circuit.
The staff are really pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was fab and at only £10 each a real bargain.
There was a nice little bar with a good selection available.
This is an old Manor House, with creaky floors and lots of original detail. We were there 3 nights and feel it offered everything we needed. It’s not the Ritz, but the price reflects that.
Right in the centre of Castle Donington-plenty of private parking.
Will stay again next year.

Room looked like it was last refurbished in the 70s. Smelled of damp. Very old toilet flush would get stuck. No wifi reception. On a positive side I arrived very late and the night receptionist was friendly and helpful.

The hotel didn't have the room ready for me which i had booked, so they put me in a room that was adequate but was slightly less in price. I had informed the manager that the prices were advertised differently and he agreed to "sort something out" before i left. Unfortunatley this was not the case.
The room however was clean all be it very out dated, the radiator valve was broken also so i was unable to turn down the heating and lastly the wall paper was peeling off of the walls in both the room and the bathroom (something im guessing to do with the heat being close to that of the surface of the sun).
So yeah, ok place to stay if your in a tight spot, however i will not be staying here again based on principle.

Hotel is currently undergoing a major renovation and is no position to offer paying customers any level of service. No restuarant or bar open. Had i have known this before, i would not have booked to stay here. As i checked out there was a massive leak of water into reception!

The people were friendly, the food was very good, plenty of free parking. The hotel itself was fine, although our room in the courtyard was rather tired and could do with a makeover and it was impossible to get WiFi in that room. Very conveniently situated for Donington Park race circuit.

Fantastic staff, very welcoming and friendly but the hotel wasn't as we expected. Needs to be drastically updated. Poorly laid out room so when you opened the door for the bathroom you caught the door on a bed side cabinet which had a hole in it that needed to be repaired. Poor hairdryer, why can't hotels provide decent one's. Room smelt damp and needed to be well aired.

Car Park is too small for hotel, restaurant was closed, check in was chaos, shower was pathetic, TV did not work in room. It would have been nice to get an email or text telling us the restaurant was closed, it was being used for a private event. There was a busy event locally so none of the other restaurants had tables and we didn't want to drive elsewhere because we would lose our parking spot. Very stressful stay. Will never use this hotel again.

Lovely room and great service. Disappointed with menu for dinner. Limited and expensive

We had a lovely two night stay. A beautiful pet friendly hotel. Some gorgeous vintage pieces in the hotel. The staff were all helpful & friendly. The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated with huge private bathroom, we even had a balcony off the bedroom/living area. The room had everything we needed. A few parts around the hotel could do with a bit of a "touch up" here & there but all in all we had a lovely stay and enjoyed all the quirky features like the trouser press & patterned bathroom suite.

The staff apart from the man who greeted us were very friendly. The website didn't give me the option to book breakfast and he wouldn't let me book it when I arrived for the following morning for some reason. Though the nice lady we spoke to in the morning said she would have done but it was too late by then.
The place just needs money pouring into it, shower fixture coming off the wall, shower head wouldn't stay up, literally 10 mins for the water to get warm, no sockets near the bed etc. Nice building, it just needs some attention.

We left after one night, the 1st time we have ever had to do this. We were given a room that didn't lock, with one towel and half a toilet roll between 2 people. The hot water didn't work and it looks like the tv had no aerial connection. We asked twice for more toilet rolls and another towel, and still didn't get any.

This property should not be listed as habitable and I shall be seeking a refund. There was no hot water, the toilet seat fell off, it stank of mould, the bed felt as though it was gong to split in half, no staff, no one answers the phone number, no key for the room, I felt physically sick, and if I could have found somewhere else to stay I would. I wouldn't put an animal in there!!! When I woke in the morning there was condensation on my spectacles. When I returned home the contents of my bag smelled of mould. Disgusting. Please remove this accommodation from your site.

Appalling cleanliness. No WiFi . No Tv that worked.Dated, smelly , disgusting bedding. If there was any other option I would have walked out.

Absolutely terrible WiFi. Which wouldn’t matter if the hotel wasn’t in a mobile signal black spot. It isn’t the hotels fault it is in a mobile signal black spot but then you must have WiFi that works. I called reception and asked if they sort it or move me so I either had WiFi working or signal (empty hotel btw) guy said o haven’t worked here long and would get back to me. Absolutely nothing came back. Added 4 hours to my next day. Add to that the tv has 3 working tv channels. You can’t stay here if you need to do some work or have any sort of internet requirement. Told the receptionist on check out .... I might as well have told my cat

Really beautiful old building in a great location. There weren’t many people staying in the hotel, but it was really clean and nice.

Bit tired and old fashioned bedrooms. Steep stairs to carry luggage to bedroom although reception helpful in changing room allocation to make life easier

A good stay , good location and parking . We will stay again . This is not a premiere inn/travel lodge . this is a old hotel with lots of charm , good beds and good value for money :)

The hotel is in a lovely location and the staff I spoke to were friendly but there were just a lot of small things that let it down. There were light bulbs that needed replacing and no locks on the windows. The TV signal was fuzzy and had static noises and there were cobwebs in the bedside lamp. The shower was attached to the bath so the water pressure was very low.Breakfast was nice and there was a decent selection to choose from and WiFi was also provided.. Overall I would say the hotel is fine if youre staying short term but bring your own entertainment.

Overnight stop for early flight next day. 8.25pm arrived said no food available when next door had a good curry. Room up lots of stairs. Been re decorated but with cheap carpets and curtain's. Boiling water out the hot tap with no idea which was hot and which cold. Bed comfortable though. Asked for a taxi at 4.45am reception had booked a mini bus cos another couple were supposed to be going and share the cost they never turned up so left without them coat us an extra £5 cos of the size of the mini bus. Would never use this hotel again because of overall stay.

This was a second visit and we won’t bother again! Apparently full for the weekend but ran out of milk and salmon. We paid for breakfast elsewhere even though we had paid at the hotel, the hotel didn’t reimburse the cost incurred. We had a choice of two poor rooms and decided on the second - just! We were offered another room for our third night which was partly redecorated. The staff were seemingly embarrassed as to the issues raised but were unable to rectify the situation. I was told the manager or owner would contact us but this didn’t happen.
Stay if you wish but take your own milk! It’s a pity because it is in a good position, but, it’s in a bit of a mess.
