Terrible. Smallest room (cupboard) ever. Door opened onto landing overlooking reception. NOISY!
Booked into a Travelodge for £20 cheaper.

Extremely nice person at the reception in the evening of December 11. Thank you for your help!

The staff was nice and polite, but the hotel in itself was below expectations. It is perhaps £20 cheaper a night than other hotels in the area but given the standard it should be half price or less. Very, very, very small room without even a closet for your clothes. So it had to stay in your bag at the tiny floor area, making it a bit of a challenge to open the door. Even smaller bathroom that made noises throughout the night. The door to the bathroom couldn’t be closed. Noises from rest of the hotel too. A lot of old boxes, clutter etc. in the stairways and other areas gave it a messy look. The whole place, including the room, was run down. You might be tempted by the lower price but my advice would be to fork out the extra £20 and find somewhere way nicer.

The rooms are small but perfect for a short stay. Staff was kind and friendly.

The staff here were very friendly. The bed super comfortable. The shower was hot, and decent. The room was clean and well presented. I stayed in the family room, which was down stairs and had no view or natural light through the window. Overall, for a budget stay it was good value for money.

I got an exstreem small room, no 26. It was so small that is was unconformtable.
My plan was to investigate if the hotel could be an alternative when my big family should visit London. I didn`t got the best experience.
The waste box in the bathroom was full of waste from previous guest. Because of the waste was not empy I god thoughts if the towels and bed lines were not change?

I have stayed in many rooms in the hotel with various noise levels I found that while humid the basement room #1 was the quietest. The front desk man is always friendly and helpful. If you arrive early as I almost always do they will give you a room if available.

Very basic hotel. Was in a triple room in the basement. Down some very worn stairs, past an old washing machine and a kitchen/cleaning room cupboard and into the room.
The room itself was better - some tasteful decorations and good lighting. Bed was so so - not amazingly comfortable but passable. Some paint peeling off the walls and a loose electrical socket. Floor had bits on it so not properly cleaned and there was an unnecessarily large refrigerator in the room. There was an aircon unit which was noisy when on and only did cold or hot (no middle ground), but when turned off the room got too hot quite quickly.
Private bathroom by contrast felt new and was very clean. The shower was very powerful.

Room was small but had everything you needed tea coffee facilities. No breakfast facilities on site. Room was tidy but not as clean as could be. Sheets had a few stains on. Not the quietest of hotels to stay I but did for our trip. Not sure I’d stay there again.

Good experience. The reception was friendly and welcoming. Nice and easy to talk too. Simple process, no hassle or any problems. Even got to choose our rooms whilst at the hotel which was nice. Recommend !

Short stay but it was in a great location, clean and tidy

You get what you pay for which is a compliment. Cheap accomodation in central London for 1 night max I'd recommend. No lifts is frustrating - especially hauling 20kg suitcase up to the 4th floor on a windy narrow staircase at 11pm. Overall it's fine - it's a bargain hotel - there's a bed and ensuite toilet but it's obviously not brilliant.

I like the environment. Lovely and quiet. The reception at the room flunctuate ( it goes off and come back). Generally, the place is good

Dreary room, can't see TV from the double bed, shower small, bed not that comfortable, decor dated, 3 flights of stairs, pack light.

I was in a basement room but was ok for 1 night. I wouldnt want to stay any more than that. It was noisy but i used earplugs. Its near the tube and buses so its a good location and the guy on recption was polite

The hotel is let down by the whole place being very dated and could really do with being updated throughout. It a shame because the staff were fabulous, the rooms were clean with towels and complimentary drinks refreshed daily. We were originally allocated room 20 which was situated on the 3rd floor up a narrow staircase to the rear of the building, there was nothing wrong with the room but I found the staircase very claustrophobic. We were able relocate to room 16 with an outlook to the front of the property and although this room was smaller it met all our needs, a bonus for me was being able to open the sash windows fully. This place is basic so don’t expect a boutique experience, but it fits the bills for a few nights away.

Great place to stay for a couple of days, really friendly staff , lovely chats when you come and go! Room was basic but not in a bad way, everything you need for a short no fuss stay. Our room was cleaned each day and was small but comfortable, would definitely come back . Location is fantastic, right near Hyde park. If you like basic , clean friendly and no fuss then this is the place!!

Nice and central hotel in Notting Hill, rooms are small as you expect in central London hotels, but hotel is in a quiet street just a stone's throw from lively Notting Hill, and a good place for a London weekend.

I recently stayed at the Notting Hill Gate Hotel and, unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Despite the charming exterior and prime location, several significant issues marred my stay.
Blocked toilet and shower
The toilet, shower and wash basin were blocked. And sewage was bubbling back into the shower. This was incredibly inconvenient and frankly unacceptable for any hotel, regardless of its rating.
Cramped Spaces
The rooms at the Notting Hill Gate Hotel are exceedingly small. While I understand that space can be at a premium in a city like London, the rooms here felt particularly claustrophobic. There was barely enough room to maneuver around the bed, and the storage space was almost non-existent. This lack of space significantly detracted from the overall comfort of my stay.
Unpleasant Odors
One of the most off-putting aspects was the smell that greeted me upon entering the room. It was a stale, musty odor that seemed embedded. This made it difficult to feel relaxed and comfortable in the space.
Inadequate Amenities
The amenities provided were minimal.
In summary, my stay at the Notting Hill Gate Hotel was disappointing due to the blocked sewage, cramped spaces, unpleasant odors. Regardless of the price and location, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation.

No lifts - had to carry 5 suitcases over a couple of floors. We visited late June and London was hot. But this hotel had no A/C and the only fan present was in a suboptimal place. Opening windows didn't help as the room was land locked. Our room, though it had bed for 4 ppl, there was not any space left to stand or do anything else. Shower area was too small for even one person to stand conveniently.

Small double room downstairs but clean great shower and good value for a few days.

very well located and very nice welcome
however my room 26 definitly too small and the bathromm inconvenient. You just cannot move
Absence of lounge makes it difficult when accomodated ion such a small room. The door of the bathroom should be removed
2.0
The service and room very basic. Its a cheap hotel but not that cheap, disappointing. Room tired and in need of updating. Broken plug sockets and toilet roll/soap dish holder in bathroom. All just tired.
The hotel doesnt feel care for and the welcome to it reflected that as well.
Decent location for Nottinghill and of course Portobella road.

Friendly and accommodating staff, good location. I've been staying here a few times as it is very convenient for me and stayed in a lot of different rooms. TLC needed, but overall ok. This time though there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the drains. I didn't want to complain about it and left windows open and fan on to compensate. TV didn't work properly and some lights had no bulbs, plugs loose, few spider webs on the ceiling, mugs/spoon and remote needed a good disinfectant, but I've seen worse in London and the bed was good (enjoyed hard mattress) and the room was freshened up daily.

Hotel room was terrible in the dungeon next to the housekeeper equipment room so they came on and out all the the time to get their stuffs nousy with the other guests in and out. I just arrived first bight so needed to rest and sleep but getting awake by the nouses all night!!! Not recommend 😕

This was a truly horrific experience. Our stay at the Notting Hill Gate hotel room was cancelled by this hotel and we were booked at Linden Place instead, without our consent. Disgusting rooms, unclean linens, no elevator and absolutely unsafe hotel. Our room was on the fourth floor located behind a fire door. If they had a zero rating would give them that rating.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough the fire alarm went off at 6:00 am and the place was under construction! No hand railings on the stairs and the stairs were steep and narrow.

Very basic. Provided a place to sleep and that’s about it. Bed wasn’t comfortable, shower space had broken soap dish and lacked cleaning items, no wash cloths, etc. I was disappointed for the price. Location and affordability are mainly why we picked. No on-site parking for our rental car either and the nearest one through JustPark was 9 minute walk. Wouldn’t stay here again.
4.0
It’s a good place to stay for holidays
2.5
The hotel is historic therefore not much can be done to change the layout. There's only stairs, no lift and the rooms are dated but it was very clean, comfortable and the staff were fantastic. I definitely would stay there again. It was easy to get around from there and several food options close by.
