This is a beautiful place to stay in a charming village. I have a fabulous room (9) with stunning bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and the staff could not have been nicer. All in all a superb stay. I wish I could give it a six rating

We chose this hotel based on reviews praising the gluten free food and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent and the choice for coeliacs is great. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. Can’t wait to return

Welcoming, helpful, kind staff.
Rooms could use better lighting.

This was a lovely property in the countryside. Staff was friendly and property gorgeous. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Great room, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent and the food at the pub was brilliant. Staying there again next week!

They gave us a room just above the main door, and it was extremely noisy every time the door close.

Absolutely lovely stay at The Royal oak. Beautifully decorated throughout, with a really warm and homely feel. Staff were welcoming, dinner and breakfast were first-class and my room was spotlessly clean with a great bathroom and comfy bed. Would definitely return, I stayed for work but it would be a lovely place for a weekend away.

Food is really great and such a cosy pub! We were kept up by noise from downstairs but maybe we were unluckly

It's a great pub with large ensuite rooms. The food is good and reasonably priced too. It'd cost the same to stay in a big chain hotel with none of the character.

Absolutely wonderful one night stay at The Royal Oak. Delicious dinner. My daughter raved about the pizza...
Breakfast was absolutely delicious too.
Roaring fire in the pub and lots of comfy seating.
Wonderful place to stay if you are looking in this area.

Good quality accommodation with excellent staff and food.

Great room(only 10)-awesome walk-in rainfall shower; pub/restaurant had amazing food-never expected; breakfast was included and top-notch (best avocado toast on thick seeded bread with eggs and bacon)....beautiful outside patios and prices are so reasonable.
Will be pleased to come back many times!

We arrived at 2pm when at the time we had been advised we could check in. We were told quite bluntly we couldn't check in until 3pm, then were left to carry our bags around the property to find somewhere to wait. Drinks service whilst we waited was poor. 3pm arrived, carried our bags back to reception, and the staff member walked past me without offering to carry any of the 3 bags I was struggling with, only carrying 1 when asked to help. We got to the room, but it was still being cleaned, and we were told another 30 minutes. Options to hang around with our bags again were refused, and we were then offered the room next door to change in, and finally it was accepted that we were not getting the service we should, and offered a free round of drinks before dinner. After this, the food was excellent and the service in the restaurant was good. Breakfast was also excellent.

We stayed in one of the Superior rooms, which had a lovely big bathroom and bathtub. Plenty of space in the room and a comfortable bed. The room was quiet and had good ventilation.

This was a present for my daughter and son in law to enjoy pre arrival of a little one! They had a lovely time, staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. They enjoyed lovely walks with their dog, The Royal Oak went out of its way to ensure it is dog friendly for guests. It is also to be congratulated on its pub food. Delicious but also a menu which catered and took care of guest with allergies.

I cannot rate this hotel high enough. Everything was perfect, the staff, the food and the room. Saddening we were their last customers until the virus is dealt with. I wish all the staff well and will return as soon as you are back open.

Staff were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. Food was equally excellent and freshly prepared in the open kitchen area off the restaurant- a special mention for the home made pizza cooked in the special oven.

Loved the surroundings, room was lovely
Shame breakfast only started at 7:30, I wouldn’t be able to stay again which is a shame as I’m away on business and my day starts at 7:30am

Lovely restaurant and outside area within a beautiful walled garden. Food was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very pretty and had a cottage feel.

It was more than I had hoped for. Absolutely charming, impeccable service and friendly staff and the food was great. Will definitely be booking again. Wonderful.

Beautiful setting, excellent food. They provided a Nespresso in the room and plenty of fresh milk which was great! Beautiful bedding and lush towels. If you want to take a dog there are 2 rooms with their own garden which is very thoughtful. Unfortunately they are putting in an orangery at the back of the hotel so the main garden was limited- will be lovely when finished!!

We tucked into this Inn after visiting Highclere Castle and before making our way back into London. We appreciated all the amenities and the delicious pub food and breakfast. There doesn't seem you be much to do in the area if you were to stay longer, unless you're just around for some R&R.

The best hotel we have stayed in! Food amazing, rooms amazing, service ... amazing! We wanted to stay longer!

We stayed here for 2 nights in July in the cottage next to the pub. We had 2 rooms, both of which were spacious and comfortable. The bedding and towels were clean although I did notice some cobwebs on the wooden beams in the room.
The staff were friendly and the pub restaurant busy in the evenings. Not a wide choice offered for breakfast, 2 different cereals, orange juice and yogurts, or you could have a full English breakfast which was great on the first day but on the second they did not have any sausages and the bacon was hard. Nice beer garden to the rear.
