En suite room. Everything you'd expect from an overnight stay. Would stay here again without any hesitation.

Really friendly and welcoming.
Went an extra mile for us as we were running late.
Will definitely come again.
Thank you.

Hotel was nice, and staff friendly. Food in the pub was lovely too. Walls however very thin, guests in next room had their tv on until 5am which meant we didn't sleep very well as we could hear it.

Right next to the canal, pleasantly appointed dated style rooms, amazingly busy when I arrived, warm welcome, arranged everything for me to have a meal that evening, even though that every table was still booked. Food Excellent, good service.
Will definitely return when in the area.

Absolutely great stay, friendly hosts & super helpful. Pub had delicious Chinese menu which my little one loved.
Playground could use a bit of love & couldn’t turn the heating off in the bathroom. Overall delightful little place and would definitely be back.

What a really lovely welcome we received!!! So friendly.
Interesting old property. Bedrooms in the converted stables. Would have thought the area would be interesting to explore but we were on business.
Dinner is Asian menu and very tasty, ample portions. Inn very popular with the locals.
There are two drives to the Inn. One is tarmacked and the other potholes. Entrance not clear which is the correct one. Fortunately its the tarmacked one!
We will stay there again.

We booked this last minute for Crufts. The room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were offered a complimentary drink at the bar, which was very busy, while it was sorted.
Bed was comfortable, Room was old fashioned but clean if a little run down, however excellent value for money. Had great walks along the canal for the dogs. Would stay again.

A very pleasant stay in a tucked away little pub. The staff were very friendly & helpful and i had a lovely Madagascan Chicken Curry in the bar before i retired to my room. The bedroom was nice and warm and the bed very comfy. Great value for money

Check-in was a nightmare, arrived at 3:30pm, nobody there as pub was closed until 5pm, managed to find someone in kitchen out back to let us into the room.
The room looked presentable on first impressions but soon become apparent that the cleanliness was appalling, the carpet had been vacumed in some while as there were food crumbs and hairs everywhere, the walls and celings were covered in cobwebs and mold and skirting boards had rot so was crumbling , the bedshhets and towels were clean.
The bathroom was another level of disgusting, 2 baby slugs on the floor, mold everywhere, the vent was noisy and covered in grime, overall the room is not fit for human inhabitation.
Went upstairs to the pub for food, the lady behind the bar was rude and abrupt and had no manors, on the plus side the chinese food on offer was absolutely amazing and my complements to the chef

I liked the country side area...I did not like the cleanliness of the room.

Room & toilet/shower had spiderwebs, dust & other people’s left overs! There was a cracked broken wooden toilet seat which we asked to be replaced but wasn’t. No service during 3 day stay, so no refills of tea etc. toilet rolls ran out as we left. The whole place is very tired in decor. Not everything on pub menu was available and two beers were unavailable at the bar too. The only plus was it was a nice location. Tried to contact by phone before arriving four times and each time it was not answered. Poor customer service here and will not return.

Great staff. Even though they were extremely busy (Bank HolidayWeekend), they made time for you and were very welcoming.

A friendly and popular pub offering good food hospitality.

Great stay. Very friendly service, and the pub attached offered great food at a reasonable price.

A warm and friendly welcome to a character property away from the hustle and bustle and in a beautiful canal-side location.
The room was warm, comfortable and generally clean - albeit a little tired.
I travelled with my dog, so a room with direct access to the outside courtyard was a distinct advantage. Our room looked out onto green space and the canal.
We ate in the pub restaurant, where the dog was welcome, and the food was good.
If you're looking for 5 star luxury, this isn't for you. But, if you're looking for a warm, comfortable, dog friendly home away from home, the Dog and Doublet will adequately cater for your needs at a reasonable rate.
Highly recommended.

Very friendly welcome, lovely quiet spot considering it's only 10 minutes from the motorway, very friendly locals enjoying excellent beer and fantastic food.

We were just looking for a reasonably priced local hotel to stay at while visiting the NEC and what a find this gem was! It’s beautifully set next to the canal for a nice stroll.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the food was all delicious, we had traditional pub menu Friday and the Chinese menu Saturday. The room was warm and comfortable, with a nice hot shower and fluffy towels. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful setting and such lovely staff

A traditional pub on the Birmingham-Fazeley Canal - superb welcome, great ale and fantastic food with a phenomenal Asian chef... a real hideaway east of Sutton Coldfield - get away from it all (ps and embracing the Hallowe'en spirit this weekend too...)

Amazingly friendly staff and food. Accommodation basic but comfortable bathroom could do with an update - broken toilet seat and shower could do with new grout.
But those little things were nothing when the staff were so lovely, thanks Michelle for making us so welcome

Good location just off m6, handy for the belfry. Great food in evening, good choice and good beer. Only missing was a breakfast option but if the customers don’t use it then they lose it. Several options for breakfast locally tho.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Yorkshire Gail, who settled us in our cosy room, and booked the taxis to and from the family party which was the reason for the stay. Excellent Theakston bitter and a walk by the canal, watching the operation of the locks., and the added bonus of the beautiful Jenni Lee singing in the garden stage made it a great evening before the party. Sadly we were unable to try the food...only down was no coffee and croissants for breakfast...but highly recommended for a quirky and kind

This property does not offer breakfast and does not have Wi-Fi. Although generally clean, nobody had bothered to shoo away spiders from our room and, I don't know about you, but I certainly wouldn't be comfortable sleeping in a room with several spiders.
I have no idea who our host was, because they didn't make themselves known to us; in fact, on our day of departure, I had to go looking for someone to hand our key to, because the place seemed to be closed.
I am very disappointed, because the main business at this property is obviously the bar - the rooms are an afterthought.

Outside is a little tired but pub is lovely inside and the room was fine. Excellent canalside spot and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.
3.0
Very basic rooms for the price.
Noisy waste water pumping system in place in the ground floor rooms due to the rooms being below the sewage pipes.
Shower in need of renovation.
No hot water in the morning, just warm.
Good restaurants with tasty reasonably priced meals.
No cafes nearby for breakfast on Sunday morning.
Beautiful surroundings, close to the lakes with plenty of walks and water sports.
We will visit the area again but will try to book elsewhere.

Location atmospheric. Accommodation clean but basic. Evening meal excellent. Breakfast not available, which was unexpected.
