Great value, especially if you want to cook for yourself!

Great kitchen, very useful with loads of cooking utensils. Free tea and sweets :). Comfy beds with electric blankets!

Lock on the door was very puny. Not sure why the women’s toilet was next to the men’s bathroom and vice versa. Stairs were really steep but it’s an old place so understandable.

A hostel ryokan

It was a traditional guesthouse with an exceptionally nice BBQ area and common area. It was clean and had nice English-speaking staff.

If I have to find something, only the common toilets on a different floor than the sleeping floor. But it's a traditional place and a hostel so it is more than acceptable!

Buena estancia

Alojamiento típico japonés en ryokan, durmiendo con futón. Genial para vivir la experiencia. Es un tipo hostel con zonas comunes para cenar con el resto de personas, nosotros salimos fuera, pero todo el resto cuando les veíamos parecían que vivían allí, y se conocían. Ubicación genial, y todo limpio pese a ser compartido con tantas personas.

Que se escucha todo, las paredes muy finas.

אהבנו את הקרבה של ההוסטל למיקומים מרכזיים בעיר

המקלחות היו ממש לא נעימות, החדרים קטנים ועם קירות מנייר אז אין בכלל פרטיות. גם החדר השיתופי (הסלון) לא היה מזמין בכלל

Nice building but uncomfortable small bed.

Location was handy to main tourist attractions.

We booked a twin room but one of the beds was very small. Maybe good for a child. We dragged the mattress onto the floor and slept there. Booked for 3 nights but checked out after 1 night. Not comfortable.

Excellent value and great staff

Staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming. The hostel is in an amazing space, the house is a great setting. Loved the fire pit room and the extremely well equipped kitchen. Private room was great and the futons were extremely comfortable.

Slightly further away from some popular areas but still walkable.

Friendly no frills and bare bones budget facility

The beds were cozy, electric blankets were provided and the room heated up well during the snowy nights. There was a snack station! Location was good - walking distance to the main sites and station.

The guest house feels a bit dated, and rather cramped. The screen doors also allow for sound to travel far so it can be very loud at night. Toilets are one floor down from majority of rooms. While rooms can be heated, the rest of the building is not. Bathrooms were in a bit of a state. Staff, while friendly, seemed a little inexperienced (mostly foreigners, on WHV?). No staff on site during the night, not clear what their hours are.

Solo me quedé una noche, pero fue bastante cómodo, siempre y cuando el resto de los huéspedes no hagan ruido a la noche. El lugar muy confortable y tradicional. El personal muy amable.

Comfy Bedding. Clean bathroom.

Stayed in Single bedroom for 3 nights. Location is 14 mins walk to Takayama Nohi Bus Centre. From there you can take bus to Ainokura & Shirakawago Thatched roof villages. As well as going to Kamimochi for trekking.

An unexpectedly wonderful welcoming space

I loved my individual room. It had everything I needed and was perfect for a digital nomad. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was awesome to be able to use their washing machine for free since I stayed for at least 2 days. And the snackkkkksss were so awesome. Small things like having a heated blanket, heaters in the bathroom, umbrellas, indoor slippers etc. were very appreciated.

I was sad not to be able to use the fire/sake space but I was just unlucky that no one felt like hanging out there while I was around.

Wonderful place in Takayama!

Lovely house, wonderful and clean room. All staff was very helpful, and they provided us a discount and extra toiletries for public baths. Very nice common areas. We'd definitively check-in again if back in Takayama.

Ryokan historique & confortable dans une superbe ville.

Ryokan ancien remis au goût du jour tout en restant très traditionnel, personnel très gentil et attentif, chambre très confortable, réduction pour aller au Onsen (à faire absolument), quartier génial et proche des commerces et des rues historiques.

Le lieu est un peu loin de la station de bus, avec les valises c'est embêtant.

Best accomodation of my Japan trip!

The cheapest and best stay during my 20 day Japan trip. A really nice and cozy ryokan with a spacious lounge to meet and chat with other travellers. Loved the atmosphere and simplicity of the ryokan

Can get a little chilly during the evening. Not a lot of amenities like toothbrush, pyjamas, towel (free if more than 1 night) provided. But considering that I was only there for a night, it ain’t a deal breaker

Einfach super. Extrem empfehlenswert!

Das Personal war unglaublich nett. Es gab kostenlose japanische Süßigkeiten, kleine Snacks, Tee, Café und andere Kleinigkeiten. Man kann für 500¥ an einer Feuerstelle die man auf den Bildern sehen kann grillen und kochen. Man bekommt sogar einen kleinen Rabatt in der Unterkunft für ein lokales öffentliche Bad. Das Haus an sich ist sehr schön und sauber. Es gibt eigentlich nichts auszusetzen. Mir hat es extrem gefallen

Un lugar mágico!

Alojamiento tradicional, una buena alternativa para los que quieren disfrutar del estilo Ryokan, con un precio muy asequible, el personal muy amable, el alojamiento muy cuidado, muy tranquilo y perfecto por si quieres compartir experiencias con otros huéspedes y también si deseas estar a tu aire. Sin duda, volvería a alojarme en este magnífico guest house.

Poder dormir en un sitio tradicional con las facilidades de poder cocinar en una cocina enorme,, tener un salón amplio donde comer y descansar.

Muy buena y sin duda repetiría

Buena atención por parte del personal. Siempre estuvo todo super limpio. Se agradece mucho la buena calefacción.

El sistema de como estaban las duchas. Pero tenían calefacción por lo que frío no se pasaba , estaban limpios y los productos de aseo eran buenos.

Amazing Ryokan in Takayama

The staff were amazing, helpful and kind.The staff helped us to prepare the irori, which was very special. They helped us with recommendations of places to visit in Takayama. The facility was very good value for money and the room was comfortable with electric blankets. The Irori was very special.

We loved everything and can't wait to stay again.

Very good establishment, it's clean and the owners are extremely welcoming people. The common areas are large and you can take full advantage of them. The establishment is close to everything on foot :)

電気毛布＆西川のフカフカ毛布で、快適に睡眠出来ました。

一日目シャワーのお湯出たのですが、二日目時間が悪かったのかお湯が出ず、浴びることが出来ませんでした。

- very nice staff - great common areas equipped with everything you could need (kitchen, games etc) - beautiful old japanese house

古民家を改修したコスパの高いゲストハウスです。外国人の宿泊も多くて国際色豊か！スタッフの白人男性さんの説明は、丁寧な日本語でとても感じが良かった。

プロ仕様の厨房がシェアキッチンとして開放されているところ。調理器具やお皿、カトラリーも全て揃っているのもありがたい。今回は到着が遅くて利用できなかったが、囲炉裏も魅力的だった。客室には石油ファンヒーター、電気毛布、コタツが用意されており、寒い冬の日でしたが快適にぐっすり眠れました！泊まれる銭湯♨たかの湯は、リニューアルされて活気があって、富士山のペンキ絵もあるし、地元に愛されるいい雰囲気のお風呂でした。国内では珍しいフィンランド式薪サウナもあります。入湯料も生ビールも安くておすすめです！

Cozy and comfortabel guesthouse

Super nice guesthouse with very friendly & helpfull staff. Great common room with games & free snacks also well equiped kitchen for cooking. Our room was quite spacious and had a heater and electric blanket (!) against the cold at night. We experienced no cold at all.

Sehr gemütliches, sauberes und gut durchdachtes Guest House. Es gibt eine sehr große Küche. Kostenlose Süßigkeiten. Viele Gegenstände die man mitbenutzen darf. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Un lugar súper acogedor y tradicional, muy equipado. El lugar ofreció ropa de cama muy bien abrigada. Camas cómodas y todos los ambientes bien calefaccionados

距離JR高山有點距離，且樓梯又小又窄，拖28寸行李箱覺得累贅，比較適合背包客入住。

是百年的古民家改建而成的民宿，古樸的味道，想體驗日本風情的旅客可以選擇，服務人員遇到問題會積極處理，民宿位置距離宮川朝市及櫻山八幡宮很近，走路約五分鐘即可到達宮川朝市，沿著河岸即可到達高山老街，宮川的水非常清澈，很適合沿著河邊散步發呆。
