About this cabin rental

Gaze out at the Chattahoochee River from just about every room. Open the windows and listen to the rippling flow of the water. Breathe the fresh air and enjoy the view from the deck or from the hot tub!

This cabin has fully-equipped kitchen and gas grill on the deck for meals cooked at home. Would you rather eat out? River Retreat is within walking distance to downtown Helen! Should you decide to cook and eat at the cabin, the cabinets are filled with all the cookware, dinnerware and glassware you will need. Come coffee time, you have the option of using the standard drip coffee maker or the one-cup Keurig found in the cupboards.

The cozy couch is the perfect spot to snuggle up near the gas fireplace on chilly evenings. There is a streaming TV for your entertainment, so don't forget to bring your channel subscription login information.

Bring some quarters with you and relive the 80's with a game of Pac-man or any of the other 28 games on the arcade machine upstairs.

The main floor king bedroom has a bath with a walk-in shower. The upstairs king bedroom shares a bath with the guests staying in the loft. This bath features a shower/tub combination and the television is for playing DVDs only. In the loft there is a full size bed for two and a futon for one.

This cabin has the perfect parking for those riding or bringing motorcycles up to the mountains. Please note that River Retreat has 23 steps from parking to the front door. Pets are not allowed at River Retreat.

Minimum Age Requirement: River Retreat is available to families or guests who are at least 21 years of age.
Parking: Space is available for 4 vehicles.
Access: The roads and driveway are paved.
Location: Cabin on the River is located directly behind the Helen Water Park on the opposite side of the Chattahoochee River.

This cabin was perfect for me and my wife and friends we hadn't seen for over 30 years until we reconnected earlier this year. The cottage gave us a place to relax and unwind when we weren't on the go in Helen, Dohlonega or up on top of the Blue Ridge riding the scenic railroad. Great long weekend getaway. Ga Mountain rentals checked on us twice to make sure all was good and we didn't need anything. We will be back soon!!!!

It was mostly clean, though there were a few things missed. Trash left in one of the cans and a bar soap ring left on the shelf in the shower. Nice view of the river, and nice covered area to park.

We liked that the property seemed private, even with houses close by. The direct access to the river was great though all the neighbors used it. The house was nice and worked well for us. We could walk to many places in the town.

-My friends and I were very impressed with the River Retreat. You'll be within a 5-7 minute drive to most of the things to do in Helen, or a 15-20 minute walk. -The cabin was well-appointed with plenty of space. I loved that both bedrooms had king beds. -The only downside of the cabin we experienced is its proximity to the waterpark. There will be loud music from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day during the warmer months. You can easily hear it inside the cabin. Other than that, we were very impressed with our visit.

The property management company, Georgia Mtn Rentals, was very responsive, good communication.The not-so-good: The furniture, decor & appliances were outdated. The upstairs did not have a separate thermostat and therefore stayed warmer than the downstairs. The waterpark across from the property was closed, so it was quiet and peaceful; not sure how noisy it would be in the summertime.

I took my mother and stepmom for a few days of relaxation away from our fur babies and to get away during my Spring Break (I teach special education students). It was absolutely perfect! The unit was immaculate, it was very spacious, and the porch outside listening to the rolling river was absolutely amazing!

It’s about a mile walk with one big hill on the way out, but we enjoy the exercise. Aside from the one hill, the rest of the way is pretty flat. There are sidewalks all the way to town.

After reading about Helen in Southern Living, I was determined to locate a cabin to add to the enjoyment of our trip. River Retreat fit the bill with the additional bonus of being located on the river! It was cozy and comfortable. We did have a difficult time locating it due to the outside light being burnt out and we arrived after dark.

We had a wonderful 3 days in Helen. The house was comfortable and provided us with a relaxing getaway. We did ask for a new coffee maker after the first morning when we realized the one in the house did not work. They said they would replace it that day and they never did. Otherwise the stay was enjoyable.

Unfortunately, this property is not kept up and management didn’t seem to care when informed of the bad condition. Upon check in found mice droppings scattered throughout living room and bedroom. Living room furniture was honestly disgusting full of dirt and stains. We had to lay blankets down to even sit down. Wish we could post pictures with our review. Zero kitchen supplies, not even pot holders for handling hot pans. 3 coffee machines with no filters. Basic things like salt, oil nothing. Come prepared or buy everything. Found pan full of grease in oven. Freezer was frozen over and ice maker broken. Use of the hot tub on night 1 found hot tub was not up to temperature, even after setting to 104 did not feel like 104. Pictures look amazing being River front, however just past the river is an enormous water park eye sore, but luckily was closed out of season. No hand soap in bathroom, no shampoo or conditioner either. Sadly falls short of the basics requirements that you’d expect at this price point. Seems mgmt thinks guests should pay to stock the rental for them. You’d be better off at one of the other numerous rentals in the area that put some thought into guest needs.

My husband and I stayed there with my daughter and her husband. So good to be with them. House was decorated pretty, bed was ok but the house was not as clean as I would have expected. The vent filters were black and very much needed changed. Location was great, right behind the water slides. If the house had been cleaner it would have been a much more nicer stay.

We decided to try renting a cabin instead of hotel. The place was nice but make sure to wash the kitchen stuff before you use them. We could tell what the previous guests ate from the leftovers on the bottom of the pots and pans. Slight bug problem also. It made for some screams, laughs and stories.

Very nice, steps were a little concern. Cabin was beautiful, but upstairs TV didn't work. But we dealt with that. Small problem with passcode being changed, but they solved the problem as soon as we called them. Excellent service. We would stay there again.

They loved being able to play in the river in the back yard. The house was cozy. The staff were very helpful. We could even walk across the river and walk to the water park. Great location, property was very clean and as described. Water park directly across the river, but it was not in operation while we were there and was clearly seen in photos before i booked. Only issue we had was wifi and cell service was basically non existant at the cabin. Had to leave the property and join guest networks to retrieve any data, so wouldn't plan on working remotely from this location or even looking up directions for where you may be adventuring for the day.

This cabin is nestled in the perfect spot in Helen! Just outside of town but within minutes of everything. Plenty of things to do and conveniently close to Helen tubing/water park. Would definitely recommend.

This cabin was perfect and location was excellent. The view and access of the river was great and the guys definitely enjoyed it. The deck was nice to enjoy our grilling night and the hot tub was enjoyable on the crisp, cool nights. The cabin was perfect for togetherness but also gave us our privacy. It was well stocked and very clean. Location was also a bonus because it was just a short drive to town for shopping or eateries. The rental company called checking to make sure everything was good. Our Wi-Fi was not working and they jumped right on it to fix the problem. We will definitely rent from them again. Thanks for helping to make our vacation a success.
