My husband and I have been here many of times and always love our stay. Lovely accommodation/food. Staff are very friendly perfect place to escape 😄

Food in restaurant was lovely but really expensive.
The room we stayed in was very much in need of decorating, the room was leaning, couldn't open any of the windows as they were rotten. The sofa was broken and leaning back and very low and uncomfortable. Wall paper was hanging off the wall in places, and also there were tiny spiders everywhere. Damp was a huge issue. The bed was a only a double so not a luxury room as advertised. No shower only a bath so definitely not ideal. The breakfast is a joke, stale baguette, no butter first night, spoons wouldn't fit in jar for yogurt and no milk for musili the last morning. We were told Sunday evening meals were only fish and chips, main menu not available. We only wanted loaded hand cut chips and were told we couldn't have it. So we orderd a takeaway to be delivered to our room. Would definitely not recommend staying here. We paid £360 for 3 nights.

Large suite with comfortable bed
Lovely bathroom with separate shower
Not being informed that the hotel and restaurant were actually closed on
of our stay, but Facebook states it is.
Not being informed that a cooked breakfast was not being served anymore and that a continental hamper would be delivered to your door each morning.
The hampers were inconsistent, and bread, especially the gluten-free option by the 3rd morning, was stale.
Housekeeping was not up to standard considering that food, especially bread with crumbs, are being eaten for breakfast in this room. No hoovering was done during our stay.
We had to try and prepare and eat our hamper breakfast on a small coffee table purched on the bed to eat.very unexceptable for the £120 per night.

Personal baloney overlooking the bay. Breakfast hamper was a lovely and quaint treat.

Facilities and staff were exceptional
No bus service links to surrounding towns

Food and staff were great
Property very run down and noise from bar until late which meant terrible nights sleep. Bed was also extremely uncomfortable which exacerbated sleep issues.

Fantastic location

Breakfast was very nice and didn't have to wait long for its arrival each time. The suite was very nice and clean where there was plenty of room.
The only thing was you could hear some music but it is a pub/restaurant so nothing unexpected.

Excellent breakfast and really comfortable room. We slept really well each night. Bathroom was really spacious. We had a shared terrace where we could people watch and enjoy drinks from the bar.
As a horticulture teacher, the garden needs a bit of a tidy up and had I lived closer would have offered a couple of hours a week as the established plants in the garden area are really good but needs weeding and some TLC. This didn't detract from the overall experience, just my gardeners eye.
I used to holiday at Blue Anchor Bay 50 years ago and it's really not changed that much, laid back and chilled with a beautiful beach.
Only one window opened, as it was very warm, would have preferred more windows or working air con. A very small bar area and a popular restaurant meant we couldn't always book a table when back from a busy day until later in the evening. Would recommend booking a table before going out in the morning if you want to eat on return at a specific time

Beautifully cooked and well presented food.
Lovely location if you just want a nice beach to walk on and peaceful surroundings.

Nothing to note

easy to find, plenty of parking available, great hosts, good value and food excellent both evening meals and breakfasts - I asked at first breakfast if the did vegetarian sausages for a full English chef said he would get some for second morning which he did. great hosts friendly and helpful. exceeded expectations and would highly recommend not just to friends and family but anyone.

Fantastic room, much bigger than expected. Great location. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food.
Nothing.

The room was enormous! More than enough room for 2 people. Breakfast very good. I did struggle a little with the evening menu, but that’s just me being picky. All staff were very welcoming. Would definitely recommend visiting. The only thing I could possible pick on was whilst the room, dressing area and shower room were good, the tiny corner sink didn’t work for me at all. Quite hard just to even clean your teeth and the shelf above it made it even more difficult. Other than that 10 out out 10 for the stay.
If you don’t want to drive anywhere and just ‘mooch’ about, there’s nothing in the close vicinity other than another pub about 5 mins or so walk, so that might be something to consider when booking the Smugglers Inn
As mentioned previously, the tiny corner sink, way too small

staff were fabulous & helpful the food was which great. easy free parking. we were lucky to be there for bikers night.
our room was upstairs which to get to was outside & a very steep access up wooden steps & a walk across decking that felt unsafe. the tv was a nightmare perhaps instructions would help but only worked after the help of the lovely staff & the same with the shower hot hot hot & could not control.

The foom was large and spacious.the staff were friendly and helpful.
The carpet in the bathroom.

The suite was amazing so spacious and excellent value!
The windows were showing their age and wouldn’t have liked to attempt to
open them as rot had set it in places! but with air con supplied it wasn’t necessary!
4.2
The pub/restaurant was in a great location for us. The room was very large and had a certain amount of quirkiness. The staff were excellent and they all worked very hard knowing exactly what was needed to be done. Loved the beer - excluding the Doom Bar the Exmoor Ale on beer engine was up to the mark. Best of all was the food - looking at the menu it seemed a bit on the expensive side but the quality and quantity could not be faulted in any way and there not overpriced at all. And all the food was beautifully cooked. Thanks to Mark and his team at a very busy time.
I read a review that didn't like this property at all and yes there were a few niggles but so few to not bother mentioning.

The room The Captain's Suite was excellent. The daily room service was superb, the clean leness was excellent. . The food was good, but we are used to a choice of cereals at breakfast, there was none.
The outside decking and steps to the upstairs room is rotten in places, and needs urgent attention. The outside needs a refurb with peeling paint and rotten window frames..

The building was fascinating and our room wonderfully spacious. Breakfast was good, and we ate there two evenings and really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pair of Great Dane 'guard' dogs were a real joy. We were there to visit the West Somerset Railway and it was a real bonus having a station a short drive from the hotel.
Not much not to like. The building is old and some bits (like the external stairway to our room) are in need of a bit of TLC. However, nothing to complain about.

Staff were very good, food in restaurant upto good standard, easy parking and close to beach.
Small bar area and outside garden seating.
Breakfast limited menu, steep outside stairs to room, decking needs TLC. Sound proofing from bar below.

The food was hot and well prepared, tea and coffee as much as you would like.
We had a salad for dinner one evening which was very nice.
It was all good.
