The staff was super friendly, and I love that they're trying to renovate and restore this beautiful old home. My room was huge, and they had good wifi with TV access to all streaming services. However, it seemed like the room and bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and I didn't have control over the air conditioning in my room. Otherwise, beautiful spot, and I suspect will only get better!

AC was fabulous. Our room was really comfortable. loved the old house. Just needs a little love especially the outside grounds. Breakfast staff could be a bit more friendly but we made it work.
5.0
Unique, and has its quirks. Really harkens back to what we used to think of as a B&B. Still, if you are okay not being right on the beach, or you have business with the Univ of Hawaii this is an option well worth consideration.

Poor management. They changed my reservation and downgrade my room without any notice. The check-in time is until 10pm. I showed up at 9:30 but no one was there. I got locked outside and waited for 40 minutes to check in. Totally not recommended.

Upon arrival I was suspicious of the conditions of the Inn. The outside could use some decluttering. The inside was old and dim inside. The person who checked me in walked me up 2 flights of stairs (something that should be in the notes of the hotel) showed me to a room that wouldn’t lock. They had to change the door handle. The rooms air conditioning didn’t work. It was in the low 90’s that afternoon. I felt bad for the woman as it seems to be a family run operation by herself her children. So I decided to stay and support local business. The next morning no coffee and the “included” breakfast was late and disastrous. I had a family emergency and had to check out early and spoke to the lady who checked me in. She assured me that I would be refunded since my stay was awful and should’ve been refunded in full at the start of my stay, and its days later. Still waiting. I have text exchanges proving the experience and will be taking it up with my credit card company.

Claims to be a bed and breakfast. First day no coffee, green papaya that was hard as a rock, dirty cups , no
Menu variety sane breakfast every day, no extra toilet paper, no bottled water.
Kids and dog .common room full of laundry, main room curtained off. No pool.

House is a historical site that is in the process of being restored. A mother owns it and her kids help her. The property was in disarray when they purchased it a year ago, and you can see step by step how they are bringing it back to its original state. They have come a long way. It still needs work, but you would stay at this location because you appreciate different things as opposed to a resort. You stay here because you support a local family, and have an appreciation for history, architecture, etc. Of course it doesn’t have the most modern amenities, but that isn’t the point, or the reason you would stay here. The family is accommodating, the property is beautiful, it’s quiet, it’s simple.

This is the coolest place so quiet and a nice garden. It is an old time BnB.

Good.

Beautiful property with a lot of potential. The new owners have a lot of work ahead.

This place was incredible. Owner is incredibly nice, rooms are well cleaned and put together, plenty of windows so lots of airflow, fans in the rooms, ac, everything. Building is historic and old and it adds to the atmosphere. Made me feel instantly at home.

Its a very unique stay, had no issues checking into my room. I arrived in the afternoon and just called the number on the door and someone showed me to my room. I was staying in the Dillingham and at first was a little worried about the door that leads to my what was supposed to be a private bathroom. The door was just locked from the inside, but not completely closed off you could open it ever so slightly which was worrying, but you can only do so much I guess. The room was warm, but after asking for the ac remote was comfortable. The view of the mountains from the bathroom is nice. I stayed for 10 days and was given new towels midway through the stay. The location was very convenient as I was visiting someone from the University there. I didn’t go to the breakfast while I was there the one time I attempted to go I went to the “kitchen” area and was told to leave and wait. It is an old building but my room was well kept other than some dust on the windows. There was also a hatch that led to the attic in the bathroom which I had to close and a budda? Statue behind a curtain next the the bathroom which I thought was weird, but I didn’t care. The backyard was very green and luscious it was very pretty. The pool, however, was not clean sadly, but I didn’t go to Hawaii to swim in a swimming pool, would have been nice though. There was also a cockroach that I had to kill in our trashcan. They have washers and dryers there so that was nice.

When we arrived it didn’t look like anything you would want to stay the night. Then it had a number to call for check in. Once we did that the lady Lisa stated there were no rooms available. She did pay for Uber to go to another property for our inconvenience

The property is in quite a state of disrepair and does not look like the photos. The breakfast was very limited and most mornings they were out of everything. It seems the current owners purchased the property out of foreclosure so perhaps they will get it in proper working order in time, but unfortunately our stay was not as comfortable or nice as we had hoped.

I booked a room that was not available when I arrived to check in. Then I was given a room that was not comfortable. The Expedia page of the room only has 2 photos of the bathroom. As a result, I talked to a staff shortly after and was told the booking will be cancelled. I found another hotel instead. After 5 days, I saw no refund. Then I called. A staff said I was not charged but to contact Expedia. Now, Expedia mentions they contacted staff and not able to issue refund. I am still waiting for issue to be resolved.
The only alternative room was Dillingham. It seems there is 1 other review about the room. It has a 1/5 review.

Horrible experience. When we got there, no one was around. Called on the walkie-talkie. 5 minutes later a girl came running through one room to the next. Called for a young male to show us up to our room. Walked in the room absolutely dirty. Food on the floor. Used soap in the bathroom. Under one table food and dust so thick. Just so dirty and dusty. Our room smelled like urine also. Somebody's leftover hair product was left in bathroom on tub ledge. This was a horrible experience. We left immediately. Called Expedia for a full refund. Still working with Expedia

Lisa and the staff were very helpful and made every effort to make sure I had a great and enjoyable stay. Morning breakfast was nice, room clean and location was convenient. Would stay again.

Property has an excellent location, we have to request for towels was not any in the room, also and worse that everything air condition was not working and with a 30 degrees Celsius was not pleasant nights, problem was communicate to responsable he did not do anything.

Parking is cramped.
New young couple just bought the place. Needs to be refreshed, but was pleasant enough. Limited breakfast choices. There is a pool, but it isn't useable.
The grounds are getting over grown and the driveway/parking needs to be redone.

Room was very spacious and comfortable. Loved the decor and breakfast. Need to complete the renovations for the whole house to make it a excellent experience.

This place was not at all like the photos or descriptions on expedia. On the plus side it was conveniently located for a visit to relatives nearby, and the room was large with a strong (and welcome) air conditioner; in all other respects it was disappointing or worse. Although we were there for 10 days, there was no room cleaning, trash removal, etc. When we asked for fresh linens and towels halfway through, this was left by our door 2 days later. In both cases, the bed linens were ancient and threadbare. There was no mirror in the bathroom. No shelf for soap, etc in the shower. The "breakfast" was abysmal: white bread (toast it yourself), with butter but no jam, a made to order scrambled egg (singular) or out of a mix pancake (singular) and/or a strip of paperthin bacon. Limited parking for up to four cars, at inadequate spaces that carried a constant risk of scrapes. A once lovely, now unkempt garden, and a leaf-strewn swimming pool. Most of the time no staff was visible. A once gorgeous property mostly gone to seed.

A beautiful Victorian home, no modern amenities. Breakfast is limited. Location is breathtaking, with its nature sound effects of birds chirping, leaves rustling in the breeze.

It is a rundown place. The breakfast is lousy, not enough mugs, coffee, bread. They skimp on the food. No soap in the washroom/shower.

The Manoa Inn is unique and homey. The historic property is used as a bed and breakfast. It is very quiet and the room we were given had a wonderful big screened window that was lovely. Internet worked well; television was limited to a short list of channels; upkeep of the room and its bath were spotty. The property could be exquisite but needs much more investment of time and money. The breakfast was at best okay with mostly what seemed to be heated up preprepared entrees. Staff members were cordial and tried to be helpful. The grounds need work.

They are very disorganized. The informed phone number doesn’t exist, it is impossible to contact them. The host doesn’t even have access to this platform, she didn’t know from where we have booked. I do not recommend.

Put the romanticism of staying at a 100 year old property aside this property needs to be better maintained. Its old. If you are going to sell a stay at a Victorian mansion the only way to pull it off is by ensuring that it is meticulously maintained. This property is not, flaking and old wallpaper, old chipped paint in the room, and a bathroom that needs renovating. Even the bed failed at comfort, it must've been a hundred years old. The exterior plants and trees need to be trimmed so you don't get the appearance that you are staying with the Munsters. Lots of potential, just be meticulous with an older property. We like the area but will be returning to crowded Waikiki.

The convenient location is what I was looking for and that is all we got. We arrived after a 14 hour plane ride and the parking was only a few tight spots. We were led to our room up several flights of stairs with multiple bags so please be aware if you have any accessiblity issues. Then we enter a hot room, so we turn on the AC and head to pick up a few essentials and return to the AC that doesn’t work at 9:30pm. Tried to call the number that was provided with no answer. Opened the windows to dust covered all on the top of the windows. We were going to try to stick it out till we pulled back the bedsheets and the mattress was exposed. We immediately left and tried to call again with no answer and booked another hotel for the next couple nights. I am not one to leave a bad review because I feel like there are things that occur, but after 2 unreturned phone calls and an email that was never answered informing we would not be staying I didn’t know what to do. But trust me, they charged my credit card the final day. Also the pool looks nothing like the pictures, not sure you can swim in it at this time.

Our stay at the Manoa Valley in was very nice. The manager was extremely helpful the entire time we were there. The breakfast was very tasty, served out on the back decks, surrounded by the garden. The wind knocked out the power one evening, and we were offered a different room that might have been cooler, but we decided to stay in ours, and sleep on the massive window seat. It was convenient to have parking right in front of the building. We would love to stay at this location when we visit again!

So sad! This beauty needs serious maintenance. The rooms and amenities were nothing like advertised. I was looking forward to a swim, but the pool is not fit to enter.

Bottom line up front: Stay away from this place at all cost!!!!!!!
The room has a strong smell, and so is the bed. Can’t comment on the purported made to order breakfast because I didn’t see any provided. Was told one of the staff on my first night that the building is under renovation so the kitchen doesn’t work, so they couldn’t even provide drinking water. I had to fill my water bottle from water fountain on UH campus before returning to this place. So I put up with this place for only because I needed to be near UH for work purposes. Orbitz should take down the three stars, this place doesn’t deserve even one star given what it currently is like. And the pictures are deceptive and do not accurately reflect its current conditions. This business should cease operation before it can provides what it advertises.

This property was very cute but the pictures were a little out dated as our room had less furniture than what was pictured and the pool area could use some tidying up. We arrived and had no hot water and weren't told until the next day that there was a leak to the hot water heater. I understand that leaks happen but I wish we were told upon check in that there was a problem because we had to scramble the next day to find a new hotel at the last minute. Breakfast was very good though and the garden in the back yard was very cute. The parking space on property is also very small and luckily there was only 1 other car already parked, because there is really only enough space for 2, maybe 3 small cars.

Very nice historical house.

Okay, the people are quite nice and mean well. The garden was gorgeous. They said that they just took over the property a couple months ago, so could be forgiven for some hiccups.
But let's start with the biggest issue: the property was not in the condition that was represented in the ad and photographs. We paid for and expected a top-of-the-line B&B and got what felt like a backpackers. Most of the furniture and almost all of the decorations in the photos were gone. The safe didn't work and didn't get properly fixed. The bed was way past its replacement date. We had a day without hot water. The custom breakfast was a set menu. The pool showed no signs of having been cleaned anytime recently. But most disturbing was that the kids who were running the place appeared to base their style of service on a backpackers...no training in hospitality or property maintenance was evident. Also, this place has apparently all of their guest rooms at the top of a steep staircase - no access for mobility impaired.
I wish these folks well and hope things improve as they get into what they've undertaken. In the meantime, buyer beware - we did not get the experience we thought we were getting based upon the advertisement.

I expected quirky/unique - it’s a historical B&B after all, but overall disappointed with the overall upkeep/cleanliness. You can have an old place with all the character but use newer linens, etc. It felt going to a distant relatives house that you’ve never met and they agreed to put you up for the night.

I’m sure this place was nice at some point but the conditions I walked onto were unacceptable. I felt like I was in a distant relative’s single wide bedroom

Simple check in, beautiful room, and walking distance to University of Hawaii.

Very unique, great hospitality!
