I was a little perturbed but some of the recent reviews, but I had a perfectly good experience. My room was spacious and well equipped. Hotel parking was fine, if a little pricey for an overnight stay.

Please provide a chair in the room the suitcase rack a waste of space
Please also provide a toilet brush, it embarrasing if you cant keep the toilet clean yourself, when sharing the room
The lighting was dreadful in the room....gloomy
But overall our stay was satisfactory and i would stay again, because if the central location. The breakfast was very good.

Good location, good bathroom, but access with a vehicle for drop off/pick is horrendous (nothing like the photo provided as the road space in front of the hotel is owned by the Council and wardens pass by every 10 minutes), also floorboards creak like crazy and walls are poorly insulated. You can get better value elsewhere.

Hotel is in a good location and the bar seemed nice.
Room was small, not well furnished and the bed was uncomfortable.
1.5
Room was tiny compared to my parents room I booked for the same price. Horrid view of a skip on the roof. No heating, there was a tiny electric heater that had been placed in the room that barley did anything, and clicked constantly.
Bar downstairs is nice

A little disappointed with our stay, the hotel isn't as grand as the name suggests!
The room was Ok, but a little tired and no plug by the kettle and tea tray.
Breakfast is probably one of the worst we've experienced, poor choice, cold coffee, toaster not switched on and staff just hanging around.
2.5
The room was lovely. Quiet, with good blackout curtains and not too hot - perfect for a good nights sleep.

Good friendly service, clean, comfy room and great breakfast

We were here for a local wedding, 2 night stay. We asked front desk for more pillows but they never arrived, the room was cleaned late in the day and only 1 set of towels were given, I tried to call internally to front desk at different times over an evening and the next morning but no answer. I also called from my mobile and again no answer.
The room was dark with some very bright wall/floor lamps that werent dimmable so thankfully there was a table lamp i could move to the side of the bed and turn it away so it created a softer light.
The bed was hard but it would of had been ok for 1 night but 2 nights was a bit uncomfortable. The pillows were very flat which is why i wanted some more to watch tv in bed. The bathroom lighting, shower, extendable mirror and shower gel was really good. The wardrobe space was good and the tea tray and kettle were good.
The staff behind the bar were very friendly and the same for reception. Parking was easy although the spaces were very narrow.
The hotel feels like it needs money spent on the matresses and pillows and apart from that its a good hotel in a perfect location for what we needed.

The staff were amazing and accommodating as always. We've stayed at the hotel 4 times now, and it never fails to impress us.

Perfect location

Check in experience was poor. No information given about the hotel or the facilities. We weren't asked or told about breakfastn or check out time.
House keeping trolleys were left dotted around the floor with housekeeping laundry bags left by every 4 or 5 rooms.
No kettle in the room, but milk, coffee, tea and cups were provided. But with no way to boil the water...
Room was comfortable and bed was clean. Other room facilities were as you would expect from Mercure

Really great location. Easy walking distance from Temple Meads and to the Hippodrome Theatre. Shops, cafes and restaurants all close by. Clean, well decorated rooms.

Tidy, good location, good facilities all good 👍

Poor Hotel . Dark , small dingy rooms . Air con didn’t work , toiletry dispensers empty. Car park chaotic .
Not somewhere I would stay in future
3.0
For the cost per night you should expect better quality than Travleodge standard.
Bath was slippy. Had to move kettle to use which was questionable safety on bedside table.
2.5
Fabulous stay once again. Warm welcome from professional staff.
Room clean and up to usual standard.

Had to wait over an hour for check in as room was not ready, when we finally got in, pillows were covered with makeup and carpet had obviously not been hovered.
Bath had rust patches in it, air con light flashed all night, just like sleeping in a room with the car indicates on all night.
Bed was had and may as well not have had any pillows

Car park was possibly the tiniest, tightest car park i've ever seen and cost £17 for one night! I then checked in, 'greeted' by a receptionist named Rahul, though quite frankly I've had warmer receptions in the Antarctic, the guy barely said two words to me and looked at me like he'd just scraped me from the bottom of his shoe. The room itself was nice, clean, spacious and well maintained, if a little too warm but the windows opened which negated that. On to the hotel itself, the elevators seemed a little glitchy at times, like they kept forgetting what they were doing so i decided to take the stairs, the route of which was not well sign-posted and several of the bannisters were dangerously hanging off the wall. And it wasn't until I went to bed that i discovered my TV remote wasn't working properly, so i just went to sleep. Bedding was comfy though it would be nice to have a lighter option than a thick winter duvet. On to breakfast, a good spread but poor execution, several 'cooked' items were done poorly, hashbrowns were cooked round the edge but practically raw in the middle, bacon was overdone, black pudding underdone, poor quality beans and eggs, definitely not worth the money i paid for it. We also had issues leaving the car park as the ticket we were given to exit had expired. Overall, a nice-looking, functional hotel, let down by poor service and maintenance.

The room was in need of maintenance, with things hanging off around the bath, the airconditioner not working and generally looking a bit tired. The room and floor in general was overly hot and it was a cool day and night, a large fan was on table placed next to the bed but was too close and became annoying. The breakfast buffet was very average selection wise, could have been cooked better and at one stage nearly everything was empty, really not worth the money.

Positives: an outstanding location in the old town, within walking distance of the station and with many great bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. (Try Full Court Press and Chez Marcel, which are right next door.) My standard double room was quiet, with much better soundproofing than many modern hotels, and with windows that opened and a fine view over Georgian rooftops and medieval spires.
On the downside, the room was not well designed. The only hanging space was over the only table, where the tea and coffee things were. The bath lacked a plug and the shower curtain trailed in the water. And the room smelled stale.
4.0
Good location, comfortable and spacious room. Would have gotten excellent but for the air conditioning which wasn't working so I had to open the window and being in the centre of Bristol on a Friday night it was noisy.

The aircon wasn’t working in my room and the receptionist was so kind and sorted me a different room where it was working. Hotel had everything I needed for my stay.

I arrived at the hotel just before 3pm to check-in and found a long queue as there was only one person on reception at their busiest time of day. At check-in I was told I was being "upgraded" to a different room. The room seemed perfectly nice at first and was very spacious. However, I later found that the AC didn't work and the window wouldn't open, so the room quickly became very hot and stuffy which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. On the plus side, there was a number of complimentary beverages in the fridge, which helped a bit.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff.
Great value for money. Fab breakfast. Kids complained sofa bed was lumpy as they could feel the springs in 127 it did look old. But fine for 1 night. Very dark rooms.
Nice bar but shuts very early (9.30) on Sunday

Was here for a wedding the staff was amazing knew one of them that worked there she was so helpful the rooms are so comfortable

The room was not cleaned properly, with stains on the walls and floor, shower was blocked up and you couldn’t shower without it flooding over.
4.0
Nice tidy hotel, bedrooms are new nice and modern. Bathrooms and hotel areas still feel a little dated.
Great central location, check and out was fast and efficient
2.0
Good however ac didn’t work in the room and was uncomfortably hot
3.0
The hotel was a lot more tired than I expected. The bathroom needed a good cleaning - I am male and bald so I don't know where the long hairs on the wall by the shower came from. And the basin needed a thorough clean all over. The sound insulation between rooms is also very poor. I will choose a different hotel for my next Bristol visit.

Gorgeous building, all staff so friendly and helpful. Can’t fault it, breakfast was lovely. Very short walk to lots of bars and restaurants

Very good location. Good price. Lovely toiletries and soft ig towels. Asked for a quiet room which I got. Would stay again. Nice staff.
2.5
Great location, car park next door, but very expensive £17 for one night stay.
3.0
We stayed in room 120, it was a typical warm Summers night necessitating aircon cooling, the aircon unit was very noisey keeping us awake, having turned aircon off because of that, we were kept awake by amorous activity in the next room - the walls are very thin!
2.0
The Aircon didn’t work
The lifts weren’t great
No amenities in the room and nothing available when requested.
The sofa bed should’ve had a thicker mattress.
Were given 2 large towels for a family of 4.
The room was very very dark.
The breakfast wasn’t great and the Carpark was awful.
Location was good but otherwise, I wouldn’t stay here again.
2.0
Convenient location and lovely big room but air conditioner unit was extremely noisy.

Very friendly staff, they had upgraded us which was kind, but we were travelling as friends and could accept the king size double, we were quickly accommodated with a twin

Had a good stay in a comfy bed then enjoyed a lovely breakfast.

Air con was broken which we wasn't made aware of before we arrived, when Mentioned it we was told we either moved to a tiny room or just put up with it,
We later spoke and they then had no rooms available to move. We was given 30% refund however we still had a terrible night's sleep as it was absolutely roasting.
If we're paying 190 pound to get a good night's sleep and get no sleep that isn't good enough..
Also noticed bed sheets were filthy underneath as can see in photo.
Hotel itself lovely but was really let down by maintenance and cleanliness..
2.5
It was a nice clean modern hotel.
Had a nice large comfortable bed with good facilities.
The only thing I felt it lacked was a chair. The bed was quite high so it wasn't easy to sit on to put on your shoes.
But overall very good.
