Looking a bit tired now but nice staff
2.5
A lovely, well situated hotel with very friendly staff with a well stocked bar at a reasonable price. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of it. We had an issue with a wall heater not working and within 5 minutes of phoning reception a replacement heater was sent up.
We were there for a Friday & Saturday night so there was live music followed by a DJ both nights. As we were on the top floor we could just about hear the beat but it wasn’t loud enough to disturb us.
If I’m back in Bournemouth for another concert than I’ll definitely be looking to stay at this hotel again.
Please note that they charge £8 per night for car parking though.

AMAZING!!!! Absolutely loved it, will be returning. So impressed. We’ve stayed in Bournemouth a lot and this by far was our favourite stay, we will be using this hotel again.

Lovely staff, good sized single rooms and a fab breakfast with easy parking close to the Bournemouth pier. What more do you want for a quick trip to Bournemouth:

Reception area and 1812 bar/club nicely decorated. Staff pleasant. Good location.
If you want to have a good nights sleep, this isn't the place for you. Loud music until gone 4am, clearly heard from the 3rd floor. Car park a bit tricky to find and limited space. Found a big cobweb on the ceiling.

Fab hotel, amazing breakfast and perfect location for us.
The band were brilliant A++

Good location and friendly staff . Downside room was cold and shower was very weak and not hot

Tv did not work, i got new batteries from reception but that didn't work. Went back to reception to be told ' heres a key for a different room, try that remote. After 20 min of up and down the stairs i gave up.
The water system was noisy
Wont be staying again.

A classic hotel, rooms needs a bit of tlc as tired but it's a good location. Not a bad fusion restaurant. Great breakfast. Excellent service.

We had a wonderful weekend in Bournemouth at the Royal Exeter. We were especially happy with the hospitality of the staff in the 1812 bar.
The happy hour is generous and good value.
Breakfast was great too.
Would recommend
There was of course sound from the bar/nightclub but wasn’t too bad. We were on the 2nd floor

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I've never been to a hotel where they offer you a pair of ear plugs on arrival. I stayed on a Friday night and their nightclub, which is in the hotel, didn't finish until 4am so got absolutely no sleep. Rooms are tired and the bed was uncomfortable. Would have got a better night's sleep kipping in my car.

The hotel was cleaned and comfortable, however the music really loud up further than 00.00am. No way to sleep without earplugs.
We were not aware at all about the hotel charged 8£ for parking every day. When we arrived they said that they will charge 8£ because we booked the hotel with Expedia. However, when we left the hotel the last day they said that they will charge 8£ per day because the parking.
They didn't mention that at all the first day, that we would be charged every day 8£ for the parking, they said that it was because we booked the hotel with Expedia.

Breakfast was wonderful & rooms kept beautifully clean but 2 very noisy nights until early hours of the morning with nightclubs on site & around hotel. Hardly slept at all on Friday night & Saturday night was pumping music until 4am!!!! Was given earplugs on request but they did not work at all!

The hotel is in a great location, very close to the beach and shops. Parking is okay, although the car park is quite small and is on a first come, first serve basis. However, there is a car park opposite the hotel.
The hotel staff were helpful and attentive and breakfast was average.
The major downside is the hotel is tired and dated. Which is not a problem if you just want a bed for the night after a long day on the beach, but it is in need of refurbishment.
The hotel is a nightclub at the weekend and the music is loud. It didn’t disturb me, as I was on the top floor, but other members of my family didn’t have a good sleep. Air plugs were given out by the reception staff, but the music was loud.

When i arrived the young lady in reception was very professional and helped me with a couple of small problems there was not a USB socket in the room, she kindly found a plug and the TV was not working so she found me another room. Room was very comfortable and very clean. Maybe a bit dated but very much to my taste. The breakdast was probably the best i have ever had in any establishment i have stayed in superb. The only problem i had was when i was leaving the your hotel the chap in reception told me i had a outstanding bill to pay for the car park , i told him tat it was all included in my deal . He was quite abrupt said who told you that . I am the sort of person i want to know about these type of things when i arrive NOT as i am leaving.

After booking and paying, the hotel sent me an email saying they couldn't guarantee a quiet stay as the on site bar has live music until 1am and the on site nightclub has a DJ until 2am. This made it completely unsuitable for me. The hotel clearly believes it needs to pass on this information before guests arrive but also chooses to conceal it until the guests have booked and paid. I replied to the email from the hotel but received no response. So they pocketed my money while I had to pay out a second time for alternative arrangements. Best avoided with this sort of attitude to customers.

Conveniently-positioned for beach and town centre. Good breakfast, continental and cooked. Beautifully-presented bedroom with framed pictures on the walls.

Close to bar and restaurants nice location
But very noisy and building and rooms very old and poor condition

Quick and efficient check in. Extra bonus; got upgraded to a double room :) fantastic location and spotlessly clean rooms.

This was the fourth time I stayed in the hotel and the last . I was very disappointed with the room in places, it was dirty and the shower you had to walk up into dangerous as it never had handrail and being an older person it was very difficult getting in out of

Shower head was blocked, it was expexted to be clean.

Totally enjoyed my stay. Very friendly and 5 minutes from the beach, bliss.

In short:
Great staff, great location, terrible Hotel.
No AC in the rooms = sauna-level of heat in the room during the summer. They only have AC in the corridor, which doesn´t help what so ever.
TERRIBLE isolation. During the weekends the pub 1812 and the club beside the hotel are loud enough for the bass to be felt in the beds, all the way to 4-5am.
In my case, at one point, the Hotel gave my room-key to someone else, because of system error. This didn´t sit right with me.
Once again, friendly staff, great location, close to the water and the city center, terrible condition of the Hotel. Will not be staying here again.

212 years old. On a hill. Unique property. A certain elegance about the hotel with its fittings. Excellent staff. Dated to an extent because of its age. Room was fine. High-ceilings. Creaky floorboards. Clean and tidy. I was happy to stay there.

The check in was quick and the bed was comfy
1.5
Staff were helpful, but the property has technological challenges. Wifi was very poor, TV coverage non existent. No water pressure in the shower.
Location is good but this is an older property. No fridge in the room & quite a walk and 7 fire doors to get through to our room. More information needed at time of booking as to how to access the secure car park. Also a challenge.
2.5
Excellent customer service. Beautiful rooms with all amenities. Great window view to the beach. Very close to the beach & town centre. Delicious breakfast & own bar with food, live music & dance. Above all, budget friendly. Five stars !!

It is an okay place to stay for a day or two.
It was close to my place of work, so served purpose.
Room was nice and clean.
Just a polite suggestion about room for improvement with the weird smell of food in the corridors.
2.0
Shower was a mere trickle so shower head need to be descaled or replaced. Very clean otherwise with very good linen and towels

Great customer service at Reception checking in and out. So nice friendly and helpful
1.5
Staff were great and helpful- £8 for parking for 3pm -1am a bit of a shock and not expected. Room tired and expensive for the type of room. The live music was loud but was fully aware and didn’t bother me or effect my stay. Breakfast lovely but felt like being watched all the time. Parking needs to be explained better on website - maybe what3words the location.
2.5
Perfect location, a ten minute walk to the beach and several local restaurants.lovely single room, full size single bed, fresh linen and good sized bathroom with a bath and old style shower head - plenty good enough for a quick stay and excellent value for money room rate. Good breakfast. Lovely staff.

A nice hotel which was well sited in Bournemouth.

Royal exeter hotel was anything but royal. The room we were booked in was totally inadequate for the guests. The floor was
Squeaky every inch making terrible noise, the windows did not shut properly and made terrible noise plus the draft coming in. The curtains did not close properly as a result light came through from street lights which did not help to sleep, it was a cold day
And heating was totally inadequate which was reported to the
Reception, there was no supply of jug of water fot the night.
Bathroom was equally bad with lose winfows and draft. Amisdt
All this i found the minimum staff that was there very polite and friendly. Atleast they tried to solve our heating problem with extra
Heaters. After strong complaint the management agreed to change the room whivh was a welcome relief but on checkoit they asked for extra money which i specifically asked if we are to
Be paying extra and were told no. All in all it was an experience
We would like to forget

Lovely big room. Great staff, perfect location

Very friendly and helpful staff on arrival and throughout stay. Room was a great size and clean, beds were comfortable. hotel is very convenient for both BIC and The Pavilion.
There is a very noisy and late club/bar on the premises at the weekend...we were warned about this by email after booking. The reception even offer complimentary ear-plugs, so be warned!
