This hotel/condo was cozy and quiet, yet a hop, skip and a jump close to 5th street the highlight of this area. I did not use the pool, with limited sun hitting the two pools, the water was too cold. Although the water is very close to the hotel, it is not a beach shore. The hotel does provide lounge chairs for the 20 by 50 feet of sand by the water.

It was a nice area but not on the beach which was disappointing. Photos do this place very much justice... See through curtains lack of privacy, tv’s do not work and getting a water gallon tank fixed took over 12 hours and 3 times asking.

Hotel was excellent, clean, big enough for our family, my kids had their own room. Full kitchen we were able to cook and have our breakfast in the room, and they have a very nice restaurant, where you can seat by the water

El Taj Staff was always displaying professionalism, at checkin we felt welcome, everyone we spoke always show care, we had a lost bag that was delivered to the lobby they always kept us informed and responded quickly to any of our questions, in regards to Milton's huracan that was near the area we felt safe at home, the condo was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. The views were amazing, everything was well thought of, the location was great, near all the busy restaurants, nightclubs, galleries, but yet quiet and relaxing family environment. We will highly recommend it! I assure you we will come back.

Everything was perfect until we book other nigth fernanda martinez was in charge the check in at the time i ask her if she let stay same room one day before my check in and she tell not make me do check out and loose my day.and check in again which i thing no need to she could le stay same room but she desire not to speak to other colege they tell the should be not problem… but she make me do check out and check in diferenr room. and lose all my day beside the everything was perfect bell boy Eric was so nice other staff great people.but fernananda Martinez sucks. but the hotel the best in everything so clean

Love the privacy, the home away from home feel. Traveled with two friends and we had our own rooms with common space and top terrace. Staff isn't bugging you, they come as needed! Each room had its own AC unit and a main space unit. Having a washer and dryer was great as well. Very nice space overall.

It is beautiful, clean and right on the beach. We had a small issue with our hot tub and we could not use it after the first day but it 100 degrees outside and we were next to the ocean so we didn’t really miss it.

I did not have a happy stay at this resort for the following reasons: Unfortunately during our stay the elevator was out of order and we were given a third floor condo. There are (3) sets of stairs for each floor. With me advising the front desk I have Achilles tendinitis and sciatica back pain I was not offered a room on a lower floor. The master bedroom has a balcony with yellow caution tape due a broken or railing needing repair so I was not comfortable utilizing the balcony. The chairs/cushions on the beach as well has by the pool are worn out, terribly stained and in desperate need of replacement. Overall due to the above issues I would not recommend to stay as there’s no regard to your health or safety. Pictures are provided.

I enjoyed the condo. Only complaint was how small the fridge was. You can only fit a few drinks. We thought it would be full size and we ended up buying groceries.. sadly not everything fit but that’s on us. Everything else is walking distance! I would come back to this beautiful condo. There are boats on the beach but you literally walk to your right 30 sec down and the rest of the beach is clear and nice.

Overall good. Great location right on tbe beaxh and very xlose to the nightlife. We had no water for around 24 hours and our bathrooms/toilets we not cleaned for all 5 nights stay. Not many sun beds if you wanted to relax at the hotel. Staff nice and helpful. Overall a good stay with only a few gripes.

The property was amazing. The desk staff was always helpful and knowledgeable; the other staff members were also excellent. The beach was literally a few steps from the hotel pool. The clean and warm sea was great for relaxation. The only complaint is the smell in the room, which is noticeable when entering. It is the smell of a humid, poorly ventilated, moldy chamber (almost like a dungeon). The same smell was in our clothes when we returned home and opened our suitcases. Fortunately, after the first wash, it was gone. I recommend El Taj as a desirable choice for a family vacation.

This is a very charming hotel/ condo. The staff is very helpful and ready to help. The only downside is that the building ( not on the water side) does not have an elevator. Im surprised but tit was quite a task to bring up and down the stroller for my kid every day and the stairway is a bit long and steep. However i still give it 5 stars.

My and family and friends loved El Taj! The staff was welcoming and extremely accommodating. Check-in process was easy and fast. We had a horrible check-in experience at another Playa del Carmen hotel earlier in the week, and were so pleased with how we were treated at El Taj. Definitely recommend to anyone going to Playa. So many restaurant options and shopping within walking distance, and 5th Avenue is extremely close, about a 3-4 minute walk.

Accommodations were clean, spacious, and appealing. Exceptional bed comfort. Staff was accommodating and friendly. The only thing I did not like was the limited beachfront which was further impeded by the boats docked there. One advantage of the limited beach is that it's more peaceful around the hotel. However, if you walk a short distance to the right, past what appears to be a wall there is much better beach access all the way down to the ferry pier. I would absolutely stay here again.

Was excited to spend my vacation in Playa del carmen. However, this place turned out to be a poorly runned Property elevators were broken almost the entire stay. The power went out! Needless to say, the couch in the living room had cigarette burns, and it smelled like sewage in the entire place. When we went to check out, the rude receptionist told me I wouldn't be getting my deposit of $250 dollars back because we damaged the washer and dry. We only used the washer to put the 3 beach towels she gave us as she made it clear that we need to keep the beach towels and return them at check as we would be charge $25 per beach towel if not return. She never offered us the option to replace towels with fresh ones until we had this incident. Stay away from the beach. There is nasty as well.

Great location in the corazon de Playa. Shops, dining, beach, and local flavor all close by. Chedraui, Mega Soriana, and DAC are a few blocks walk for food and other items. Staff was excellent and attentive. Facilities are cozy and included a full kitchen, laundry, and rooftop area with private grill and hottub (penthouse option). Definitely will return as we prefer the more authentic/local feel to the growing all-inclusive options.

If you are looking for a beach and are the type to get in the water, this probably isn't the place for you. There was however plenty of space to hang out on the sand, but no real entry into the water, due to boat docking.

Excellent location, very well staffed, extremely clean and QUIET, away from the 5th Avenue clubs and party party sounds. Also, the restaurant Asi on the beach was perfectly relaxing, albeit the saragasum was pretty bad, but no pounding club beats, very attentive staff both inside the Condo hotel and at the beach club!
