Great location for visiting a family member. Very close to wharf t where there are sea lions hanging out. Close to Lighthouse State park where you can walk along coastline which is beautiful. Room comfortable, clean. Soft drinks and coffee/ tea available.

It was very welcoming. Lilly at checkin was wonderful and had a great attitude. It was very uplifting. The place was beautiful and really close to the Boardwalk. It was literally a 5 minute walk. I look forward to staying here everytime we stay in Santa Cruz! Thank you again Lilly for everything!

Great spot for our overnight for a fun night in Santa Cruz, super convenient to boardwalk and dining - all walkable. Lovely Victorian building with modern interiors and amenities. Clean, safe and excellent customer service.

Unfortunately no hot water! Very disappointing that it was not fixed my the next morning so we could not shower. Otherwise a very nice clean property.

I’ve stayed here many times over past 5yrs, it’s now my favorite place to stay in Santa Cruz — Victorian home converted into hotel with modern clean suites at reasonable price with views of river, friendly staff, all in all a very enjoyable stay every time. Thank you!

Last minute trip to Santa Cruz landed us in this incredible little Gem. Everything was updated, clean, and very practical.
We look forward to returning soon 😊

Amazing boutique style hotel. Historic house beautifully updated. Room was spacious and had all amenities.

I’ve stayed at Rio Vista three times in the past. The hotel is clean, the attendant helpful and gorgeous views all around. This time, we had bedbugs unfortunately. We woke up around 11 or so, scratching our skin, only to see bed bugs on us and on the white sheets. I immediately called the attendant and was moved to another room. The next day, I requested a refund and I was not given it. I’m sorry to say I will not be returning to this lovely property. They didn’t try to refund me the night as of yet and the bed bug problem is probably still at large in their establishment. I would not recommend this to any travelers and for those who have stayed the night, better check your belongings. My son was bit so much, we had to get help from a nurse and had to get a prescribed ointment for all his bites!! I have pictures of the bugs in their bed as well as the bites on his body and mine.

Such a gorgeous Victorian house! It’s 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk. Friendly front desk staff. I will be staying here again

This property served our needs and was conveniently located. There was a bug in the bathroom cabinet and it was a bit noisy between the street noise and the sounds of people walking in other rooms, but overall the price was fair and it was a safe place to stay.

Loved this unique Victorian small hotel. We stayed in the attic and even though the ceiling was sloped it was perfect, we liked how it was tucked away in a private corner of the house. There was plenty of parking and only a 10minute walk (or less) to the boardwalk.

The bed was to soft, not comfortable.
4.1
Room was not well insulated from the hallway or the upstairs traffic we heard in our room downstairs.
When we walked to the boardwalk, we passed some sketchy folks staying in apartments down the street, and took a Lyft home to avoid night-time interactions with those locals.
The Inn hostess was delightful and very helpful. The location was otherwise very nice and there was plenty of parking.

Amazing place and wonderful receptionist- so relaxing.

The location is amazing - a quick walk to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Pier. The house is a beautifully restored mansion, and is very clean. We stayed in one of the attic rooms. It seemed like they invested a lot of money and effort into the building itself, but skimped on the furnishings. The bed was very uncomfortable and the vent for the air conditioning unit was taped to a hole in the wall. (Thankfully there was air conditioning, as it got pretty hot in the attic). The shades on the windows were broken as well. It’s such a beautiful building. I hope they’ll upgrade the furniture, etc!

We at Rio Visa Suites a few years ago. By comparison it seems a little bit run down now. Not as well maintained. Pillows were awful too, time to replace them.

It was beautiful and staff was very friendly and helpful

We loved this Inn! Super friendly front desk employee. Slept very well and loved how clean the room was. Would definitely recommend this place!

Stayed at room 11. Small but super clean and charming. Perfect location. I’m happy with my stay here and will be back!

We love the Rio Vista Suites. Great location and a cute house with very interesting rooms. Unfortunately we stayed in room number 6 this time. It was so tiny that you felt like you were sleeping in a closet. You step out of the shower and you are in the sleeping area. It is a very funky layout but I do admire what they were able to do with this tiny space. The best thing about the room was the view.

The outside maybe very dated but the rooms are very modern and clean. Comfortable bed. Rooms are as pictured on website. My wife and I would stay here again.
4.1
Convenient location, coffee and tea station, water bottles available, the rooms are mich nicer in person, and the front desk front was so helpful. We were able to park in the lot during a busy weekend.

Lilly was wonderful and helped us through a booking problem that I created. Didn’t actually get to stay but will book again with them just because of how helpful she was.

Good service. Convince to walk to beach and shopping

Highly recommend Rio Vista suites!!!!! Very clean, convenient, clean! accessible. Staff is fabulous! One of the better places I’ve stayed in a while.

Room 1 on the ground floor was fabulous. This is an older but well-maintained property. My room had high ceilings, a fireplace, and stained glass windows! Gorgeous property with an easy 5-10 minute walk to the Boardwalk.
The only downside is there is very little soundproofing, being an older structure. The first afternoon I unwilling eavesdropped on a lengthy political conversation right outside my bedroom window. But otherwise it was fabulous.

The staff was very nice and the place was in a walkable location

Our stay was only for one night, but it was lovely. Despite the walls being too thin (we could hear other guests convo) we enjoyed our stay. The bed was cozy & the room had a lot of natural night.

Cozy, home warm unlike a regular hotel.

My stay at Rio Vista Hotel in Santa Cruz was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a picturesque setting that made me feel right at home.
The hotel's location right by the San Lorenzo River is perfect for those seeking a peaceful escape while still being close to all the action of downtown Santa Cruz. The views of the river and the surrounding greenery create a serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.
The room I stayed in was tastefully decorated and impeccably clean, with modern amenities that made my stay comfortable and convenient. The bed was cozy, the bathroom spacious, and the little touches like complimentary toiletries and downstairs coffee station added to the overall experience.
The staff at Rio Vista Hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing excellent recommendations for local dining and activities. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests truly sets this hotel apart.
Overall, Rio Vista Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you're visiting Santa Cruz for a relaxing getaway or exploring the area's attractions, this charming hotel is the perfect place to stay.

Room was comfortable. Initially there was an odd smell but it cleared after we opened the windows. Our room was on the first floor and we could easily hear conversations and everything outside our door. Robes were a nice touch but there were no other hangers in the wardrobe. Free bottled water, soda, and coffee available and appreciated.

Room wasn't ready at check in time, ended up waiting an hour despite asking earlier in the day about check in progress.
4.1
Very secure and clean with great access to nearby attractions

Fabulous old Victorian home. Room is quite small but comfortable. Microwave and small fridge in the room was perfect.
