Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made a strive for excellent service and felt it was a positive environment for everyone.

Outstanding service and luxury.

Buffet breakfast was mediocre; much inferior to previous at the hotel. We were advised not to order a la carte because the kitchen was so backed up with room service orders.

Truly elegant and a "home away from home!"

My stay was absolutely amazing being met by bellman who were very accommodating. The front desk was very friendly and professional and guided us through checking in. The room was absolutely stunningly beautiful with a great view.

No minibars in rooms and poor buffet breakfast doesn't allow me to classifie this hotel as 5-star hotel.

The hotel had its ups and downs. The lowest point was that the crib we requested had a piece of metal sticking out into the sleeping area and was obviously dangerous. The temperature in the room also seemed to rarely match the thermostat as we alternated between sweating and freezing. But the staff were fabulous and the indoor pool was my son’s favorite part of the trip.

Clean, comfortable, nice view, attentive and friendly staff upon arrival. Quick check in

Ordered room service and for this to be a 5 star hotel, the food was sub par. We didnt eat it. Spa service was unavailable. Other than that room was nice and clean.

the check-out was probably the worst experience I have had at a hotel. I asked twice for the extension to 1pm to check out and every time was told no but no explanation was given. I travel bicoastal and overseas all throughout the year and never has a hotel not given an explanation as to why a late checkout could not occur. I also was apart of a wedding which over 20-30 rooms were filled with wedding guests and the wedding party. so attempting to check out as fast as 11am was not possible given all of the festivities. this occurred twice even when I extended my stay another night.

Enjoyed our stay here. There were a few areas in the room that came across as awaiting renovation or replacement, but the room was quite lovely overall. Wish there was a hot tub, but the pool was nice. Staff was excellent and extremely professional and courteous. The valet parking was very highly priced.

Stayed for 2-nights at the tail end of a post-work conference mini-vacation with my wife. The location could not have been any better, within walking distance of all the monuments, museums, restaurants, bars, etc. The property was very well kept and the room was fantastic. Staff were very accommodating and excited to help. The hotel was undergoing a refresh of some of the rooms, but we hardly noticed. Rates were a bit pricey, and parking was just the same (valet only, $79/night), but everything else delivered on our expectations. I would definitely stay here again and I would definitely recommend, especially for any D.C. first timers like myself (assuming they keep it affordable).

Amazing staff. Very relaxing environment. Really close to the Wharf and all of the attractions.

Salamander is over priced for its offerings. They have a $160 hold charge per night and yet cannot draw any charges to the room from it. So you pay your full bill and you have an additional $160 per night hold at the end of checkout. It’s ridiculous. The spa massage was great even without the full facilities. Its really good. However you have no discretion on tipping. Another thing that blew my mind was there was no tea or coffee in the room. For a hotel of this calibre the complimentary amenities were pretty sparce. It definitely dampened my ability to unwind for the weekend. Service is also pretty slow so if you need anything for the room, be prepared to call multiple times and wait a while! So would I stay again, nah. The shortcomings dampened a staycation - like the hotel service undid the relaxation of the masseuse. The grounds of the stairs leading to the wharf can be cleaner too and free of trash

The DC property was undergoing renovation and the staff bent over backwards to make up for any inconveniences, which were relatively minor. Rooms are very nice, great food, great staff

Amazing Bathroom and welcome message with my name.

The location was amazing and perfect! However, there's a lot of extra charges that weren't shared ahead of time. We also got charged $141 for a meal we did not have. Good thing I checked our charges before we checked out. Everything is extremely expensive.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful hotel!!! Rooms are spacious and spotless. The staff is extremely helpful and nice, and it’s super dog friendly. This will be my go to when in DC. Well done Salamander!!!

Nice hotel. I planned the trip thinking the shuttle would be able to take me to the landmarks I was hoping to visit. The shuttle was out of service and no one could tell me how long it would be that way. Disappointing, as that was part of the draw for me to stay there. Instead I had to Uber everywhere. Would have been nice to receive some sort of credit for the inconvenience. Maybe they should also update their website to reflect that shuttle service is not an option right now. Overall the stay was nice and the room was beautiful, especially the bathroom. For a 5star hotel, the pool and fitness center were lackluster. However, it seemed the fitness center may still be undergoing some construction. Also, $79 for valet seemed excessive.

I came for a staycation and I live in south east Washington DC
This hotel was beautiful. I truly enjoyed it.

The staff here were wonderful and all so kind and happy and helpful.
The bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the room and the large bathroom with soaking tub.
I was a bit disappointed with the room service and breakfast- room service was delivered cold and breakfast was 45 dollars and the buffet was quite low caliber… powdered eggs, rubbery bacon, pancakes devoid of fluff.
I have heard good things about the restaurant itself.
Location was great, walking distance to the Tidal Basin.
Dog friendly which is a huge plus for me as I travel frequently with them.

There was hair in the bathtub and in the sink. The staff fixed it immediately. Outside of that issue, the stay was amazing.

This property is top notch. The rooms were beautiful and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The area feels very safe and it is just a short walk to all the sights in DC.

Overall the hotel was classy, but we noticed that outdoor staff seems to be overly helpful, similar to staff in Cuba. We were bitten by bugs but not mosquitos. They were in the beds. Thank goodness it was our last day there. We reported to front desk and they said they will look into it as they were quite concerned. There is a Starbucks close by but they close at 6pm. Museums and important sites were in walking distance. Twenty to thirty minutes. The zoo was the furthest. Regan airport is about 10 -15 minutes from hotel.

I didn't like that I have to wait for the room to be ready-made

Requested ice two days in a row and took
More than 1/2 hour each time. Had to call in room service twice. Broken handle on furniture in room. We had to move the enormous chest to plug in the wine chiller/mini fridge. Found old tennis ball and a random pill on the floor. Ridiculous cost for daily parking there. Construction noise at 8am each morning.

This didn’t feel like a luxury hotel experience. Limited amenities in the room. No coffe/ tea for example. Checkin process was slow and my room wasn’t ready at 5:30pm. Breakfast in room was not tasty and was overcooked. I ended up leaving early because it didn’t feel like the relaxing luxury experience I was hoping for. Especially as compared to the accommodations in middleburg

I had the pleasure of staying at the Salamander Hotel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The rooms were immaculate and offered breathtaking views of the marina and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. From the moment we arrived, the concierge services were top-notch, with the Porter promptly taking our luggage to our room. Check-in was efficient and seamless, and the customer service team provided a warm welcome, complete with a tour of the hotel and a brief history. The front desk staff were always friendly and quick to assist with any needs. The on-site restaurant was fantastic, serving delicious food that we thoroughly enjoyed. Valet parking was effortless, and my kids had a blast spending time in the pool. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, within walking distance to the wharf, museum, and downtown DC. Overall, I highly recommend the Salamander Hotel for its exceptional service, amenities, and prime location.
