About this cottage rental
Comes with a paddle board and 6 bikes to use on the Leelanau Trail located right across the street! We also have some nets for fishing. This is the ideal location to walk to town, bike to town or start your day trip to the many locations on the peninsula.
This property is unique because it is so close to the shoreline. Lake Michigan's waters lap just a few feet from the house providing panoramic views of Lake Michigan, sunrises and sail boats floating in and out of the bay. Once you book, you will receive an interactive guide to the area with direct links for things to do.
We fancy this place as a little bit of country (rustic wooded area) and little bit of rock and roll (Lake Michigan waves). In this complicated world, life is simple here.
This home is just north of Suttons Bay on Lake Michigan. This hone was built in the 50’s by a ship captain who sailed the Great Lakes. He wanted to feel like he was on the water while he was in his home. We think he picked the perfect spot. The property is tucked on a piece of land that provides panoramic views of Lake Michigan while waves lap against the shoreline just a few feet from the house. Sitting on the spacious covered porch feels like you are sitting on the water. Each of the three bedrooms provides lake views. We found an old sign in the garage and believe he named this home the “Admiralty Haus”.
Enjoy the beach and pull up an Adirondack chair to relax by the fire pit to star gaze in the evening or rest after a swim in the shallow waters. There is an additional wood deck with a gas grill where you can relax while cooking or do morning yoga. You will see ducks, loons, herons, hawks and eagles swim and fly by and if you are into rock hunting, Lake Michigan delivers Petoskey stones (look for them after a storm), Charlevoix rocks and other beautiful rocks. Take a walk to the local toy store Enerdyne to get rock polishing supplies and take a look at the rocks on display to help inspire your search.
There is something for everyone here. If you want more activity, across the street you will find the TART trail. That is a paved trail you can hop on to walk or bike into town (local shop provides bike rentals in case you don’t bring your own). The trail is a total of 18 miles long stretching all the way to Traverse City winding through beautiful farms, vineyards and hop lots. The Village of Suttons Bay has local shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors and two spacious public beaches. Hansen’s grocery store is a little over a mile away, dozens of wineries are within minutes of this location, Traverse City is 14 miles south, Leland, Lake Leelanau, Glen Arbor and Northport are easy and beautiful drives less than 20 minutes away. Be sure to visit the farm markets, parks, movie theaters, hiking trails, vineyards and distilleries. This is a wonderful, family friendly community.
Need to remote work? Two bedrooms are equipped with a desk/workspace so you can work remotely. We provide an additional computer monitor with an HDMI hook up to your computer.
This cottage provides breathtaking views, relaxation and comfort year round.
The cottage sleeps up to 8 people. It includes three plus bedrooms, two full baths and one half bath. One bedroom on the main level includes a queen sized bed and an attached bathroom with a stand up shower. Two other bedrooms are on the second floor and are spacious. One bedroom features a king bed and a large closet for storage. The other bedroom features a queen size bed and two built in twin beds with two twin trundle beds. We just completed a renovation that includes a rebuilt covered porch with Trex decking, restored the original knotty pine wood inside the home, remodeled the bedroom with built in beds and trundle beds and a fresh coat of paint inside and out. This home does not provide air conditioning but Mother Nature does and for the really hot evenings, we provide plenty of fans to pull in the fresh air. We enjoy night swims as a family to cool off on the really hot and humid days before bed.
The cottage offers a well appointed and functional kitchen, a porch, a deck, gas grill, coffee maker, smart TVs in the living room and in the new bedroom – We provide access to sign into Netflix, Disney+, etc. We have a selection of family games. This is our own family vacation home so we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

This was a great house for our family - very clean, lots of space, and perfect location. We would definitely book here again!

Lovely home/cottage right on Sutton's Bay. Very comfortable for 8 people and had everything we needed. Loved the fact that there was even a little beach with a fire pit -- great for long summer evenings in Michigan!

We had a wonderful stay at the Suttons Bay house located steps away from the water. Every room in the house has windows that overlook the Bay and there is a deck that is the perfect place to relax with your family and enjoy the view of the bay. The house has everything you need to enjoy a beach front stay, and the village of Suttons Bay is delightful and we spent a day at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, which is a short drive away.

We had an amazing time! The kids just loved the beach house. The water is beautiful, shallow, and rocky. We all wore water shoes and the kids enjoyed looking for unique rocks. The fact that it was shallow was a plus because we had little kids. Overall, the house was well stocked for all our needs, we had plenty of space for everyone. They do not have central air, which was okay because we went when it was high of low 80 and they had plenty of fans. And one thing I would have loved is a stick vacuum for all the sand the littles inadvertently drug in. I would also suggest bringing a gate or two if you have a toddler to keep them from the stairs.

George and Tia were wonderful hosts and their property is just perfect for a vacation at the lake. The house is situated right at the water, so each day began and ended with a swim and paddle. The house is so convenient for taking advantage of many fun activities and great restaurants. The house was incredibly clean and nicely laid out with an open living/eating area with lovely porch overlooking the lake and big beds in each bedroom + twin beds. My friends and I had a fantastic time and loved staying in this gem of a house.

This house is the perfect up north home, conveniently located on the water and close to town. My girlfriends and I all slept comfortably on the most comfortable mattresses, enjoyed quiet mornings on the porch and had plenty of space to hang inside together at night. We enjoyed wading and floating in the water and lounging on the beach watching sailboats sail by in a picturesque setting. The owners gave us great recommendations and were easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful home (and I know my girlfriends feel the same!). Pro tip: pack sandals or water shoes for the lake as it’s a bit rocky.

Beautiful home, beautiful setting. The porch was the gathering place for our family at all times of the day. Gorgeous sunrises, well-appointed kitchen, comfortable everything. Enjoyed biking along the TART trail and easy drives to cherry picking and wineries. Wonderful stay.

This VRBO is literally right on the water! The views are amazing, and the home is lovely. My parents, my husband, and our 3 teenage daughters fit perfectly into the home. My parents stayed downstairs with a private bath, and our daughters had a big room with multiple beds to themselves. The owners were super responsive and kind. One day we rode bikes into Suttons Bay - an easy and fun ride. Highly recommend this lovely home!!

The home is very tastefully decorated, extremely clean and the setting was idyllic. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our weekend. The layout of the house was perfect. The covered deck was like an additional living room for us. Be sure to bring water shoes for the lake. It's nice and shallow at the house but the rocks are plentiful and slippery.

The listing & photos for this house are very nice but the house in person far exceeded our expectations.
Location is ideal. It’s right on 22, but set away from the road and directly on the lake. No road noise inside the house and very little while on the beach. Walking/biking distance to the absolutely adorable town of Sutton’s Bay and a 5 minute drive to a local grocery store that will have anything you need.
The house itself is LOVELY. We arrived to find it spotlessly clean and very well equipped (far above other rentals we’ve experienced). The beds are comfortable and the sheets are soft and it all smelled as if it had been freshly laundered. Towels (including beach towels) are provided. There’s also everything you’ll need in the kitchen for basics as well as a gas grill. In addition, there’s bikes & things to enjoy the lake easily stored for you to use.
The hosts walk the line perfectly between being super responsive and helpful, and also leaving you in peace and privacy. Can’t recommend them as hosts or this house highly enough. It’s outstanding!

We loved our stay at this wonderful house in a spectacular setting. Perfect for our group of an adult couple, teenage kids, and a grandmother, who had her own room and bathroom. The house is as represented on listing. Great base for exploring the peninsula. The waterfront location on the bay is beautiful, especially from the covered porch. We brought kayaks and launched them right from the beach. The owners were very nice and responsive. We would definitely come back!

This rental is very accurately listed. The covered deck is honestly like another room and we spent most of our time out there- morning and night. The Sonos speaker on the deck was a huge plus! This house has a rustic charm- it is clean but isn’t fancy and that was fine by us. Kitchen is well equipped and we grilled most dinners. We rented jet skis one day and had the whole bay to ourselves. Lots of swimming, kayaking and floating (water shoes recommended). Keep lights off at night to keep lake gnats from invading! Overall a very nice lake house for an active family vacation.
