About this apartment rental
You’re going to love our bright and cozy 1-bedroom English Basement, in a 100+-year-old rowhouse at the center of historic Capitol Hill.
Everything you want to see/do is close by, and our neighborhood offers plenty of restaurants/bars for your recovery. Walk everywhere, take the bus around the corner, walk 15 minutes to the Red or Orange lines, or grab a bike at the bikeshare.
The unit has everything you need to enjoy your time in DC--just bring a good pair of walking shoes. Coming for work? You're a 10-minute walk to the Capitol.
***
YOUR APARTMENT
The apartment features a Queen size bed, and a surprisingly comfy Urban Essentials Queen size sofa. Fast internet and a desk is there if you need to do some work. We also have YouTube TV, Amazon, and HBO/Max on the TV.
The kitchen has a microwave, 2-burner hot plate, toaster, and coffee maker/Keurig. (Just no oven, so if you’re planning a big dinner it might be a problem--I mean, who wants to cook a full meal when you’re in DC?)
You will have your own private access just 3 steps down from the street, with your own electronic code for keyless entry.
***
KIDS
We like 'em. We haven't toddler-proofed the apartment, but if there is anything you need we will try to help. Capitol Hill is a family area, and we have several parks just a short walk away.
***
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
For coffee/breakfast, Jacob’s Coffee is just a block away and you can walk to H Street NE, Eastern Market, or 8th St SE (Barracks Row) for a relaxing night out; all are walkable.
You will find Eastern Market a delightful place to see the less-touristy part of DC, mingling with the locals on weekends to browse the flea market or visit the historic indoor market. Evening walks around the Capitol and down the Mall truly are wonderful.
Street parking is available/free if you’re driving—or use Uber/Lyft to let someone else do the driving.
***
MEENA AND JON
As hosts, we are here for you. If you need something to make your trip easier or just some advice about the town (you gotta do the Library of Congress). We are glad to help. At the same time, the place is yours, and we’re not going to bug you if you're working, or just want privacy.
***
COMING EARLY/STAYING LATE?
If we can, we will accommodate you, though we are regularly booked and that will limit how much we can accommodate you. However, if you're coming in early or staying late, we are happy to keep your luggage in our home (upstairs).

I can't say enough good things!
1- The pull-out couch really is as comfortable as as the other reviews said!
2- The location is so great! Near the bus line and the subway, but you can also just walk about 15 minutes to the Capitol.
3- They have just about everything you could need. Little things like charging ports, umbrellas to use, a wonderful magnifying mirror, and FANS! We bring our own fans everywhere we go, but we'll know for next time that we don't need them. They had two fans you could use. They also supply a lot of extra pillows and bedding... more than you could want, but it was nice to know it was there.
4- THERE'S A BIDET!!!!! That was the greatest surprise. For those who use them, traveling without one is awful. That helped so much.
5- There are cute little businesses scattered around the neighborhood. Coffee shop very close by, little convenience stores, and restaurants are everywhere. The neighborhood was just wonderful.
I could keep going, but honestly, this was the best VRBO stay we've had. I will highly recommend this property and its wonderful hosts to everyone!

We recently stayed at this charming apartment. It was clean, it was more than we could anticipate, and the hosts (Jon & Ana) made check-out easy.
The location is ideal - it offers a bus stop 5-10 minutes from the location (depending on walking speed, ha). We felt very safe with our children (age 13 and 9). Parking was a non-issue because they offered us a complimentary parking pass, and we had no problems finding a close spot -yay!
Also, the pull-out couch is the most comfortable hide-a-bed experience - I feel like that is noteworthy of sharing because that is typically a major issue.
We appreciated the kitchenette and having access to a washer/dryer on-site. These small touches enhanced the experience. The hosts are easily accessible and very communicative. We would stay here again and will recommend friends we know traveling to this area to stay here. Thanks for helping us create beautiful memories with our family. We wish we could copy and paste this experience for each time we traveled, honestly.
Thank you!

This apartment worked out great for my husband and myself, our son and grandson. Sleeping accommodations were perfect. The bed was comfortable
and the sofa sleeper was as well. It was extremely hot weather when we were visiting, but the apartment was nice and cool. Nice, quiet location also. Great coffee shop a little over a block away where we ate breakfast before starting our day.

Great location, not too far from Union Station with a coffee shop steps away that is adorable. Very clean and comfortable. Easy communication with the hosts. Will book again if we come back to Washington DC.

A cute place in historic Capitol Hill. Definitely walking distance to National Mall and the metro. Hosts were very accommodating and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this VRBO especially for first time travelers to DC such as ourselves.

This clean and stylish flat was the ultimate in all ways. Comfortable beds, good lighting and very close to where you want to be if you are going to Washington to see the sights. This quiet neighborhood of beautiful stone row houses was bursting with flowers when we went out on our first morning. Jacob’s Cafe, just around the corner has the best breakfast and ambiance. A quick Lyft ride got us right to the Smithsonian. It is walkable, but it was a rainy morning. We congratulate Jon and Ana on wonderful digs to offer travelers. We will go right back again on our next visit.

Jon & Meena are the best hosts. The communication is excellent. They thought of everything to stock the apartment in. Didn’t need to use/bring my hangers, extra blankets or towels. This stay was excellent for my husband and I and our 9 yo son for a 6 night stay. Location is within walking distance to just about everything and at least all that you need.

Property was exactly as described. Very roomy and in a very nice safe area. Most attractions are walkable. If you don’t feel like walking, ride shares are very cheap in this area.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The property is as portrayed in the advertisement. It's a very nice neighborhood with lots of trees and shrubbery. The dwelling is clean and the appliances all work. The dishes and glassware are of very good quality. The bed is very comfortable for sleeping after a long day of sightseeing. We would happily rent this property on future trips to Washington, DC.
The owner is accessible and friendly. Thanks Jon!

We had a great trip. From the very instant, we booked with Jon and Meena, they contacted us. Since it was our first trip to D.C, they provided us with suggestions and tips. The apartment was great for our family of four and gave us plenty of space to relax after a long day. It looks just like the pictures. The neighborhood was great, and we could walk over to Eastern Marker for the flea market over the weekend. We felt safe walking in the neighborhood at night, and it was close to the metro and buses as we didn't have a car. I am so thankful we found this booking for our trip!

We were delighted to find this gem. It was easy walking to other parts of Capital Hill. The place was very clean, lovely decor, the most comfortable pull out couch I've ever slept on and all the conveniences of home! The hosts were readily accessible to answer any questions and made understanding the access very easy. We had a great stay

My daughter and I stayed here for several days during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The apartment is located in a family friendly, walkable neighborhood that is also close to many popular attractions. We felt very safe in the area. We walked to the Capitol, the museum and Mall area, Washington Monument, Tidal Basin, and more. The kitchen had everything we needed - coffee maker, fridge, microwave. The apartment was very clean and the wifi worked great. Checkin was a breeze and Jon was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Parking wasn't a problem - we drove to DC and were able to park on the street near the apartment. We would definitely stay here again!
