awful, left during the night due to poor conditions

the location

it was freezing cold the floor in the bathroom was coming up the bath had no plug the shower wasn’t connected to anything the bed sheets felt like kitchen roll room size was also small due to being pregnant we left at 9pm not staying the night as we felt it was unsafe and unhygienic.

Me & my partner didn’t stay

When I got to the hotel, the code didn’t work to get in the main door so I called the hotel & they told me that me & my partner couldn’t get in to the hotel because there had been a problem. The hotel said I should get my refund & no cancellation fee’s because it wasn’t my fault I couldn’t get in to my room I booked.

They cancelled and refused me a refund

Whilst travelling down to skegness I got a phone call to say the hotel cancelled my booking and for me to cancel on booking.com and I'd get a refund. When I tried to do so I was then told my booking wasn't cancelled and I should have stayed at the hotel. I had booked somewhere else (as I'd been told they couldn't keep my booking) but they refuse my refund despite having proof that they cancelled, not me and they promised a refund... did I say the reason I was going to skegness was to attend a family funeral. I ended up trying to book alternative accommodation whilst in the car park at the crematorium instead of spending time with family

Tired and Struggling Hotel in need of a complete refurbishment

My initial impression was good the lady provided me with a mobile number as we were travelling from Ireland to a funeral which I found helpful as we had a dreadful journey. The Towels were clean, there were toiletries, tea/coffee provided.

I booked 2 separate nights and have offered a refund on the second night we chose not to stay as needed to get some sleep. However I have realised my review has been removed, the room was unclean the bed very uncomfortable, the sheets torn, no shower in the room, or breakfast offered due to a technical issue not even a continental, Whilst offered a refund on 1 night I think it is unfair the review has been removed, as this simply was a dreadful experience. I felt the need to lift all my luggage off the floor, as there was no wardrobe to store my things in or even a place to hang up a coat. We were told it was end of season and the hotel was closing down, there were not really any staff to hand. A grieving lady asked for a cup of coffee and was told no, as no milk available. No hairdryer, side table on both sides of the bed.

If you ever wondered what staying at Fawlty towers would be like this is your place, incompetent staff, poor basic facil

Location

Non of the showers worked between the 4 rooms we had booked, either stone cold, or no water coming out at all, another room the shower head would not stay up so had to hold it whist having a shower. Also one of our rooms was cancelled on us at 5pm! Apparently there was a electrical fault, was not offered and alternative, even though we were certain they had other rooms. We were attending a funeral, so we then had to try and find accommodation late at night, as we had traveled far to be here. Lastly as part of the package we were meant to have breakfast included, when we arrived we were told this would not be available, they did inform there were plenty of other places to have breakfast, even though it should have been included. However judging by our overall experience they probably did us a favour.

Sleepless night

The breakfast was ok but small, the location was very good

The rooms basic beds uncomfortable,no shower in our en suite, at the basement level and the corridor was very noisy and people arrive back late doors banging echos from people talking hardly slept .

Better than expected

Better than expected. We had a family room so had a small fridge/freezer and a microwave. Lovely size room.

The TV had now terrestrial channels so had to watch catch up channels but they didn't work as the wifi was so bad and weak it kept buffering. Also one of the single beds had a leg missing so evertime we sat on it it toppled to the side with us falling off it. Also the single beds were a bit tooo soft. To the point where your back will hurt.

Unfortunately not the nice relaxing night I wanted with my Son. Wouldn’t stay again.

Property ‘looked’ lovely. Staff were perfect, cannot fault them at all. Breakfast was good.

We had an issue with our room, was moved to another room which was freezing cold. Staff said the radiators were on but unfortunately they weren’t. Walls were very thin but that’s the property, not the company’s fault. Partial Refund offered and no formal or personal apology.

Absolutely worst place I have ever stayed

I was happy with the lady on reception

I was upset the fact we was moved to another hotel due to damage at the one we was suppose to stay in we stayed in the queen hotel the shower was very small not very good with hot water had to boil kettle on the floor the toilet seat was rubbish the storage heater was rubbish the room was freezing and ended up on the top floor which wasn't good for my health I also got stuck in lift which only stopped on second floor so still had a flight of stairs which didn't help my health plus the receptionist isn't English he didn't understand us and we didn't understand him I had the worst time ever.

A hotel with potential but needs a lot of tlc to be comfortable.

The staff were friendly although the property was certainly short staffed - especially in the morning.

The hotel hasn’t been well maintained. Staying in room 500 there were multiple stains in the carpet, the mattress had no protector and was very springy - probably overdue being replaced. The TV in the bedroom was broken as there was a massive crack in the screen, there was leftover water damage on the ceiling in the bedroom, broken bedside cabinet as well as the unit under the sink was broken/ damaged. While there is a car park, it fits about four cars, so you’ve left with on street parking. Hotel was overall very dark inside, it has a lot of potential however needs a lot of tlc. We ended up leaving a night early due to it.

Good value for your money

Nice breakfast with just enough food, no choice of any cereal though and no toast rack, 2 slices of toast came on the breakfast plate. Overall the food provided was good and considering the overall cost offers value for money.

A shower even if fitted over the bath which was in the room would have been better than just a bath. Water took awhile to run hot and filling the bath involved a wait for the water to reach a decent temperature.

The Ivy Hotel is awesome. From the moment you step inside it's 5 star plus.. The hallway is magnificent that's what first attracted us to this hotel.. It's bling on a very high level.. Reception and dining room is exceptional..our breakfast was delicious cooked to perfection... Lovely staff always so happy you can tell this is there baby x ... Our room was awesome as well... Large enough to swing a cat but not to big to loose yourself.. The bed was the best we have stayed in.. Shower was brilliant...the whole hotel was clean and smelling lovely..you can tell this hotel is well looked after . We was met by a lovely lady who made us so welcome (( sorry I'm rubbish at remembering names)).. Lovely so close to town and seaside.. We only booked the 1 night but will be back.. Loved it... See this hotel for yourself it's awesome x

Disgusting rooms, disgusting hotel, grubby, outdated

Nothing much, location was the best part being a 2 min walk to the seafront , the hotel it’s self was very outdated, creepy floorboards , no managers or staff on site after 7pm have to phone them if you need them…..

Rooms were dirty, had 2 move rooms and the next room was even worse, bath side hanging off, mould in the bathroom ceiling, marks all over the walls, toilet brush well used and covered in s**t , marks on the toilet seat , towel covered in s**t left in the room from previous guest, milks for coffee covered in a brown substance, bed shakes , too much to list here but would deffo not recommend to anyone else and will not be returning no bar open, the cleaner brought her baby in the push chair to sit in the rooms while she cleaned, the manager brought her child to run round at breakfast, the breakfast was undercooked and looked like it still had a pulse.

Disappointing

The location was excellent, quiet at night but still very close to all things Skegness has to offer.

Nice decor in reception area . Bed was comfortable

The room was tiny, no view , run down, no dressing table , water tasted like TCP in the kettle . Couldn’t see through the window for condensation. Was a treat for my daughter to go away for her birthday but it didn’t feel like much of a treat when we looked in the room . Disappointing

Good location for concert at Suncastle.

Ensuite door would not close . Screw sticking through door so could catch yourself on it . Both reported to staff who said they would get someone to fix them after the weekend so repaired them both myself with the tools in my boot. Curtain pole held together with cello tape. The breakfast was burnt and missing a sausage the first day , both redone with no fuss. Carpark was very full and not enough room for all the guests cars.
