About this house rental
Welcome to the Shore Thing Beach Retreat! This beautifully renovated home has 4 bedrooms. Upstairs you will find the kitchen, living room, and 2 bedrooms (both with a king bed). Our kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal for your family. You can relax on the comfortable sofas after a long day of exploring downtown or the beach. Downstairs there is one bedroom with two queen beds (and an en suite bathroom) and one king bedroom.
This property is located one block off the beach, with a short walk to the dune walkover. It's also not far from the historic downtown area.
The history of St. Augustine is incomparable with almost any other on our coast. Founded in 1565 it is chock full of amazing places to visit, from the oldest house to the first schoolroom, to the impenetrable fort built by the Spanish. Lincolnville, just south of downtown St. Augustine takes you on a walking tour of the history of the civil rights movement noting where Martin Luther King stayed on numerous occasions. Needless to say, there’s also so many unique shops, and the restaurants are so varied and truly have an international flavor! There are things to do no matter the weather! You can take a free boat ride to Fort Matanzas and learn the history about the battles fought. Further south is Marineland where you can swim with dolphins!
The St. Augustine and St Johns County area have a great variety of golf courses for players of every level and skill. There are always concerts at St. Augustine Amphitheatre and events at Francis Field as well. You will never run out of things to do here in St. Augustine. It is probably one of the most beautiful places in all of Florida, and for sure one of the most photographed! Come and see for yourself!
The cleaning company provides a limited amount of basic necessities (toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher/laundry soap, etc.) to get you started, you will want to bring some with you. Garbage and recycling must be taken out to the street Sunday night for Monday morning pickup.
We don't offer refunds or reschedule stays during hurricane season, even if there is an evacuation order. Please purchase trip insurance for your stay if this is a concern.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The house is gorgeous, clean, and spacious. Conveniently located 1 block from the beach. The house is near shopping, restaurants and food stores. The host was always quick to respond to any of my questions or requests. I will definitely recommend this house and visit it again.

Spacious home with a lot of beds. Nice balcony. Responsive owners. Short walk to a nice beach. Great place for a large family or group. We highly recommend it.

This house is very close to the beach which was very nice. Quick walk with all of our chairs and tent. The house was fine, the 2 lower bedroom are right at the carport, so you literally walk out of the bedroom and the car is right there. Walls were paper thin so whoever sleeps in the bottom bedrooms, plan to be woken up anytime someone enters the house or walks around the kitchen / living room. The back porch is nice. There are not many bath towels so you might want to bring your own. Also bring your own toilet paper because we were left with half rolls when we checked in. I know a lot of that stuff was said in the listing but I’ve never stayed somewhere and not had this stuff provided. Mistake on my part for not being more prepared. To summarize, this is ideal for being close to the beach and in a safe area.

We come to st. Augustine every year with our extended family. This house was one of the best houses we have booked yet. The short walk to the beach was great! The house was spacious and comfortable for everyone. We would stay here again!

The house had everything we needed to cook our meals and plenty of space to eat! The property was clean and spacious for our entire family. A beautiful porch gives an option for outdoor dining. The walk to the beach was so easy! Even with a toddler!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Shore Thing! We loved the open space and roominess of the house. It was in a perfect location to the beach and the beach was nice and quiet. Communication was excellent as well. My family loved staying at Shore thing!

There were five adults, and we were all impressed with how clean the house was on our arrival.
It is nicely decorated and comfortable. It suited our needs. Good location to the beach which was beautiful and so was the water, many options for restaurants, and not far to St. Augustine Old Town. We would recommend it. We do not need the manager David during our stay, but he was responsive immediately when I messaged him on our arrival and departure.

Overall the property was fine. However, the place is very bare bones. Towels and linens are worn, hand soap is provided (but bring everything else-including toilet paper). The outside balcony looks over brown grass and an old gas tank. You can see the neighbors swimming. You do get a small slice of the ocean between the houses. Ocean access is not far, but you’ll have to purchase chairs. They do not provide. And be mindful of the stairs. If you’re traveling with older people you will have to navigate stairs, both inside and out.
It’s fine, but be prepared to be prepared.

House was even better than the listing. Our toddler loved the back porch and we didn’t have to worry about stairs. Everything we needed in the kitchen. We are a picky group about beds and pillows, all were excellent. One of our best ever rentals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay in this house approximately a five minute walk from the beach. Very comfortable in walking the quiet neighborhood each day. Close to birding/historical/beach activities in the area. House was clean and temperature comfortable. Great wi-fi, well stocked kitchen for cooking, great bed, large TV with good channel selection. Parking on site was ample and the property owners kept in contact with us before/during/after the visit to ensure we were enjoying our stay. We would definitely stay at this location again.

The home was adorable and a short two block walk to a beautiful beach. We had 8 adults in our party and there was plenty of room for everyone. For 8 adults we could have used a few more towels and a little surprised shampoo/conditioner/soap - bodywash weren't included in the showers, but otherwise we had everything we needed.

We are two retired couples that spent 17 days at the house. Neighborhood felt safe and is a watch community. The beds were comfortable and pillows fresh. Loved the 55”/65”/75”Samsung TVs in every bedroom and LR. House was as advertised, bright, clean and spacious (albeit floors were not properly cleaned). Owner/manager was responsive to the 2 main floor shower’s lack of water pressure (and also washing machine cold/hot water connections were reversed) but we ended up waiting 7 days for simple repairs due to maintenance crew emergency family matters, this was not acceptable. Kitchen has fundamental necessities and could easily accommodate 12, but was missing some small appliances (e.g. potato peeler, hand held mixer, etc.) and single cup Keurig coffee machine works intermittently. Basement bedroom is missing fire alarm (wires hanging from ceiling). Beach is clean and 1 block from house. Perfect beach to ride our e-bikes at low tides and SR-A1A has bike lanes and sidewalks (for bikes).

A short stay to visit local friends. I recommend longer!!!! This home was amazing with split sleeping and open kitchen, living and dining area. The veranda surrounds the entire upper floor and was a great area to hangout. So relaxing and just a quick stroll to the beach. Sun rise was unbelievable!

We enjoyed our stay. The house was nice and comfortable. Large tv's in each room. It took us about 5 minutes to walk to the beach. We'll definitely keep this rental on our list of vacation spots.

Family flew in from New York to celebrate the start of the holiday season. we could not have picked a better house or location. The description was right on point, the house was not only spotless, but so spacious for all of us, with a television in every bedroom something you never see or get. A block from the beach and less than 10 minutes from all the activity in downtown Saint Augustine. This was a win for us! We will definitely go back.

This is our 3rd trip and stay in St Augustine, we always enjoy it,but this time we were looking for something bigger for all our family and I have to say,this property is excellent in every possible way.It is clean,modern,comfortable, spacious, close to everything. David is very prompt and easy to communicate with. I dont think i want to stay anywhere else on our future trips here and i just hope this property will be available. Lovely clean home exactly as advertised with only a very brief walk to the beach. Kitchen is very well stocked with dishes and cookware. Ample comfortable bedding for our group of 6. Owners were easy to communicate with and had a "house-book" that listed things to do and recommended restaurants. Neighborhood is quiet and very walkable. Beach is wide, clean, and uncrowded as well as pet-friendly (we did not bring our dog but it was nice to see the dogs on the beach.
We have been to Sunset Grille multiple times and it is always good. Also tried Mojo's Tacos which was delicious.

This is a super clean, beautiful property close to the beach. It has a great layout where our families all had plenty of room and privacy. It is convenient to lots of dining and shopping to suit anyone's needs. The host was very helpful with a notebook of their favorites and recommendations for dining, entertainment, etc. which we used throughout our stay. We hope to stay there again when we are in the area!

Great location to walk around the corner to the beach. House has all the basic necessities for a vacation. Management and staff very prompt to answer questions. Loved looking for all the gopher turtles in the neighborhood and on the boardwalk to the beach! Neighbors friendly too!

This home met all of our needs and then some. It was spacious, comfortable, and filled all of our needs. Our gracious hosts David and Patti were easy and pleasant to communicate with. Each of the rooms was well equipped with a comfortable bed and large screen tv. It was an absolute pleasure to cook in the spacious kitchen. Let me not forget the wrap around balcony and deck that overlooked the backyard and hosted our family on game night. If the house wasn't enough of a reason to stay here, the two minute walk to the beach definitely a selling point. My family and I would be grateful to stay there again!

We really enjoyed our time in Butler Beach. Location was prefect- quiet beach to relax and minutes away from sights and great restaurants. Loved being able to walk to the beach as well as in Saint Augustine town. The house was perfect for our family. We made some nice dinners, watched a movie together, and spent long mornings in the back porch sipping coffee. The kitchen set up was really nice and we were so happy to have a nice bedroom on a separate floor as well as two main bedrooms on the main floor. Already looking at our calendar to repeat our getaway in the fall.

Wonderful place to stay! The bedrooms each have their own bathroom, the rooms are large, the property has modern finishes, the beach access is a block away, and the neighborhood was quiet but welcoming! The beds we’re comfortable. The only problem was the water pressure in the kitchen sink. But that wouldn’t keep me from renting this place again.
