About this house rental
First Capitol Mansion - The Lewis and Clark
First floor
The 1st Capital Mansion
Make the most of your St. Charles experience with a stay in the historic First Capitol Mansion, right in the heart of the city. This completely renovated home was thoughtfully done, keeping in much of the original brilliant architecture, while bringing in bright light, gathering spaces and modern comfort.
Start your day right and head across the street to grab some coffee at Crooked Tree Coffeehouse, one of the best coffee shops in the city. Then spend your day exploring St. Charles -- we’re just a quarter mile to the riverfront’s Frontier Park, with its many festivals and easily accessible bike trail, a half mile from shops and restaurants on historic Main Street and a mile from the Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa. Return to the mansion for happy hour-- it’s just a few steps to the Corner Bar, the oldest bar in St. Charles, with one of the last “cocked hat” bowling alleys in the country right in its basement. If you’re feeling something a bit classier, pop over to Cork & Rind, a wine bar and artisan cheese shop that specializes in curating naturally made wines from small vineyards.
The Lewis and Clark Suite - 201
The Lewis and Clark --named for the two brave explorers who charted a course from St. Charles to the Pacific Ocean -- is a beautiful, warm, historical space that nearly transports you back hundreds of years to their time. Enjoy a full kitchen and large living room that boasts comfortable seating around a cozy fireplace. Sleep in one of 4 large, comfortable beds (1 king bed, 2 queen beds and 1 queen sofa sleeper).
This is the main floor of the house.
This floor has 2 fireplaces, one that is located in the master bathroom and the other in located in the family room. The fire places do not work and just for looks and not to be used in any way.
You’ll enjoy most of the common things you would find in your home: a coffee bar, full dish sets, silverware, pots and pans, a blender, and more. We keep supplies of coffee, oil, salt and pepper so you won’t ever find yourself without. And in the bathroom there’s shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
You have access and doors to both the wrap around porch and the back porch to enjoy your morning coffee or night cap.
You’ll also have your own private entrances and parking spaces.
Guest Access
You will be able to access the unit with a digital code so there is no contact in getting into your unit.
You will also have access to the soda machine located on the back porch.
