About this house rental
Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is proud to present "Sweet Seventeenth"! Home sleeps up to 4 guests.
Located on a charming street full of colorful homes and small businesses and just half a block off Pacific Grove's Lighthouse Avenue, guests will enjoy the best of all worlds - quaint Victorian architecture, modern conveniences, quiet nights and being just steps away from downtown Pacific Grove restaurants and other attractions. Lover's Point Beach is just three blocks away. Park the car and walk everywhere including local favorites like Pavel's Bakery, Juice and Java, Fandango and Grove Market.
Living Spaces
Follow the flagstone path and climb the steps of this delightful 969 sf Victorian era home to reach the small covered porch with a bench where you can while away the hours, people watching in between outings around the town.
This whimsical home has tall ceilings and windows along with charming painted wood floors throughout.
An open concept flows from the front parlor living room through the dining room and into the kitchen.
Seating in the living room includes a comfortable sofa, arm chair and ottomans grouped in front of the decorative fireplace where battery operated candles give the space a warm glow and a TV is mounted to the wall.
In addition to the main living space inside the house, a detached garage conversion is home to a family room that is ideal for lounging; two sets of French doors let in great light. A flat screen TV, game table, games, sofa and a desk space all coexist in this multi-purpose space.
Kitchen and Dining
The fully-equipped kitchen is ready for preparing meals when you want to dine in, but just steps away are numerous Pacific Grove eateries.
A tin backsplash adorns the main portion of the kitchen along with cheerfully painted cabinets, stove/oven, sink and dishwasher. The kitchen extends into the laundry area with more built-in storage for small appliances, the refrigerator, a second sink and the stacking washer and dryer.
The kitchen island has two stools for casual counter seating and the wooden dining table and chairs with caning is another great place to gather.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
This 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom vacation home is perfect for up to 4 guests.
Bedroom #1 is in the center of the home, off the dining room and it has a queen bed. This bedroom also has direct access to the half-bath which also has access from the dining room area.
Bedroom #2 is located near the entry, separated from the living room by two wooden sliding doors and it has a queen bed with iron headboard and a small fold-down writing desk. Painted wainscoting and so many sweet details hearken back to yesteryear.
The home has a full bathroom with a standing shower. On-demand hot water is one of many conveniences in the home.
The rear and side yards are partially fenced for privacy and the rear patio has a table and chairs for dining al fresco and a small propane grill is a tasty cooking option near the outdoor sink. A few steps through the garden take you to the detached lounge room.
One off street parking space is provided. Street parking in front of the home is sometimes available with a time limit; more parking options with no time limits are just 1/2 block away. No garage. Just across the street is a small municipal parking lot which has several short term parking spaces for EV charging (Charge Point chargers); a convenient place for those traveling with electric vehicles.

This home is beautiful with so many decorative touches. It was much bigger than expected. We enjoyed the backyard space and entertainment area. Perfect location close to the ocean and recreational trail as well as shops and restaurants. Bookworks Cafe is a 4-minute walk away with the most amazing coffee creations and pastries. Trip to Big Sur was only 30 minutes away. Everything about this stay was perfect.

This bright happy cottage was a source of solace after busy days hiking with friends. We played games after dinner around the big table. I took my dog on lots of walks to the oceanside at Lover's Point. The house has lots of character, high ceilings, big windows, bright colors. A great location. Easy parking. Everything you need for a comfy stay, quirky layout but it all works out. Way more spacious than expected. Thank you!

Wonderful

Overall this is a really nice little house. Quirky like older houses can be. Location is terrific and walkable to shops, restaurants and the coast. The heat does come from a floor vent that gets really hot so be careful with kids and pets. My only gripe isn’t with the house at all. We had asked multiple times if we could check in early due to the lengthy drive we had. The first request was responded to saying we had to ask the day of check in. If you have a long drive you can’t really ask the day of. Otherwise it’s a cute, well maintained house.

Had problems first night heater would NOT heat up. House is very old has a very old heater in the floor. Like from the 40s No kidding It needs be on at all times to heat house. House has portable floor heaters in both bedrooms and living room. We knew there was going to be problems. Bathroom lights did NOT work had to go to fuse box. Came home from dinner house was cold. Someone before us had messed up the thermostat on the heater. Problem again if you use the portable heaters they use too much power, and it blows the fuse in bedroom living room and again in shower room. Twice had to go to fuse box to get power back on. Nice gentleman came next day from Sanctuary and fixed thermostat. Fuse box needs to be redone by an electrician. And the thermostat needs to be placed in kitchen. Kitchen only gets half h the heat and the porch shower room gets no heat at all. When you come out of the shower you will always be cold. Kind of weird they only give you one bath towel for six days stay. Location is great walk to restaurants and beach, but I would never rent this property again. Especially at $600 a night have stayed previously in Lavender House and Pelican Peak with no problems lost a whole day dealing with heater problem.

The house is very cute and quirky. A little chilly as old houses can be but the location was perfect. Across the street from our favorite restaurant and a quick walk down to the ocean where there are trails for miles and views you can't beat.

Loved everything about this place!

Great location! Excellent property! Quiet at night. Very clean. Cute decor. Excellent communication with host rental community. Would stay again.

Stay satisfactory. Well, things were fine. Cold breezes came from under outside doors. Maybe environmental responsibilities should be looked at. So that heat is not escaping.
Thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming house in Pacific Grove. The location (one block up from Lighthouse) can’t be beat, as it is also an easy walk to Lover’s Point. We enjoyed family games of Foosball and the outdoor interior courtyard was great for enjoying the sun in the afternoon. The house was clean and well-stocked with a great shower. Highly recommend!

This property was in excellent condition even though it was built around 1893. The outside of the house was kept true to the time of its construction, but the inside was completely remodeled and updated, especially the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of everything needed to prepare and serve a meal. The decor of the house was lovely, especially the stained glass window in the living room. It was a very comfortable and inviting place to stay.
The location of the house was wonderful. We were close to downtown and lots of dining venues. We enjoyed sitting outside at the Monarch Pub, just down the street from us, and watching the activity around us. It was very relaxing.
The full bathroom was located on the back porch and was somewhat inconvenient, but it worked out okay.

Three days in darling historical cottage, Sweet Seventeenth. Enjoyed beautiful Pacific Grove and felt like a local. Only downside was that it ended up being quite a bit more expensive than originally advertised.
