About this house rental
Te Tauraka, The Landing, is a newly built, comfortable, stunning holiday home. Designed to bring the beauty of the lake throughout the home, guests are greeted with views of the lake from most rooms. This property also features on my 2 Lakes Holiday Rental site if your preference is to deal directly without fees. The house layout is set-up for two to three families to comfortably stay, play and relax.
Te Tauraka is located on the shore of Lake Okareka.
The open plan living room flows across the deck to the lawn and calm waters of the lake. The house has its own jetty access with plenty of kayaks and paddle boards available for exploring. Lake Okareka is beautiful for swimming, with a 30 second paddleboard from the end of the jetty taking you to deep, clear water.
Up for something more adventurous on the water? Okareka has a dedicated ski lane. Depending on time of year and lake levels, you can moor your motorboat and launch from the jetty. Otherwise, a two-minute drive takes you to the public boat jetty.
The kitchen is a cook’s dream with everything needed for entertaining and cooking up a feast. The sheltered courtyard has an open fire with a grill and quality gas, Weber barbeque.
Te Tauraka is generously proportioned, with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The master overlooks the lake with its own balcony, ensuite and walk-in wardrobe (with a quiet, private office-nook). There’s a separate area designed for fun with a pool table that can be flipped to play air hockey or table tennis, another TV and video games
In winter, the house is warm and cozy with a wood fire in the main living room, ducted central heating throughout and underfloor heating in the bathrooms - the perfect place to relax and watch the weather roll by.
Okareka is perfectly situated to enjoy the Rotorua region. There are numerous walks near the property, including the popular Okareka walkway at the end of the road. The Whakarewarewa mountain bike park is a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute ride) up the hill. The park has trails for all levels of riders and is considered the best mountain biking destination in the Southern Hemisphere. The owners of the property are keen mountain bikers and designed a separate single garage dedicated to bike storage.
