About this house rental
5 Star Property. We are located on the northern tip of North Captiva Island, with lots of privacy away from the crowds. Just a few steps down your own private sandy path to a pristine white sandy beach overlooking the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico and Cayo Costa Island/State Park. Our home sits on a large double lot with a direct and private beach path via a lush and magical sandy trail that we keep "bare foot friendly".A ONE minute walk and you are at a beautiful white sandy beach, pristine and very private. There is a heated and fenced pool for our guests to enjoy.
On the day of your arrival, you will be met at the dock and we will get you and your luggage settled into the house, which comes with your own personal golf cart for your island transportation during your stay. Our island has no cars, no traffic, only lushly lined sandy trails and golf carts. The property is a short 5 minute golf cart ride from the dock. Once you get settled in, you can explore the island with the furnished golf cart or just relax and enjoy this magical Island Home. New StarLink High speed internet. The High Tides Beach Bar on the lower level is perfect for gathering after a day on the beach. When traveling to a barrier island great beach access is really a must! Being close enough to hear the sound of waves from your dinner table, spectacular sunsets from the porch or rooftop deck or walk directly to the sparkling waters of the Gulf at any time! Its literally just steps away! Watch dolphins swim by most any day! The island also offers miles of nature trails for hiking and exploring, over 600 acres of Federal Wildlife Preserve is one of the island’s many treasures. Miles of pristine and un-populated beaches, and depending on wind direction…always a calm beach to enjoy somewhere on the island. North Captiva Island is a true offshore island, boat or plane access only, golf carts and bicycles on sandy trails vs cars and roads, yet all the conveniences of shore. The island has a 2 bar/restaurants Mainstays & Mangos Bar & Grill, a small chef led Restaurant (Over the Waterfront), ice cream shop, small convenience store, guided fishing and boating tours, gift shop, boat rentals, grocery deliveries, etc. Once you arrive, you won’t want or need to leave! Ferries run throughout the day, 20 minute boat ride, you can leave almost anytime, you just won’t want to! Also private boats depart daily for island hopping, dolphin watching and shopping trips. Give us a call or email, we would love to have you visit!!!!!!! The only bad part is, you won't want to leave :)

Wonderful stay in North Captiva. House was perfect for family of 10. Cant beat the outdoor living space from screened in porches (a must have), pool and decks! Proximity to beach makes it the perfect location. Will definitely be back.

Sundancer is a wonderful house with the perfect view on the island for sunsets. The house comfortably fit 6 of us, two parents with 4 kids ranging in age from 16 to 22. The kitchen was very well stocked. The short walk to the beach down the quaint path was lovely. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. Communication from beginning to end was smooth and quick.

disappointed . For the price not as clean as it should have been.Master bath tiny and shower water temperature could not be adjusted . Water smelled like rotten eggs.First level shower has no water drain .I have discarded gas grills that were in cleaner and in better working condition. The pool was not monitored carefully for chemicals and turned cloudy. I had to call them to come and clean the filter and add chlorine. Roads and trails poorly maintained. Rough

Traveling as a family of 8. Ages 4-50+ we had a wonderful time. The house was a perfect size for us. Beach exactly 100 steps (my son and I counted). Our first time on North Captiva and we all agreed we’d go back! Secluded but able to order same-day groceries/drinks from Dumpling app. Lots of towels!

Both the property manager and VRBO host were excellent to work with and we had an amazing time on the island. The private walk way to the pristine beach is beautiful. We had adults and young children and the space functioned very well for all of us. So many beach chairs, outdoor spaces, and amenities.

We had four members of my extended family visit this comfortable house. From the pool to the watch tower it served us quite well. A longer stay would have been nice but life gets in the way.

We had a great time at the property. We have stayed at North Captiva several times, but this is the first time we have stayed at this home. The property management was very helpful in getting us into the house under adverse weather and helping us get settled. The house was very close to the beach Had a simple floor plan and excellent views of the water. The only deficiencies we experienced were a non-operational refrigerator on the ground floor due to recent flooding. Otherwise it was a fantastic property for our family. We look forward to returning again soon.

We stayed at Sundancer for 10 days over the Christmas/New Years break. House was clean, well furnished, and comfortable for our group of 9 (6 adults/3 kids). The house has great screened in porches on each level, amazing views of the ocean, and a fun beach bar where we spent several nights enjoying music and happy hour. We loved the heated pool, close and private access to the beach, and outdoor shower. Lots of lounge chairs and spaces to sit for those not wanting to get into the pool. Property management (Shally’s Seashells) was great; always checking in if we needed anything, any minor issues/questions we had and all in a timely and quick manner! Would rent this house and any house managed by Sean and Ally at Shally’s Seashells.

The property was well laid out and well and thoughtfully equipped with all ages in mind. Management was very responsive, especially given the holiday. Plenty of spaces to be together and to be private. We had a blast.

The Sundancer was just perfect for our family of 11. We certainly enjoyed our stay, amazing views, such a beautiful home. Prompt response from property management for unforeseen issues. The dryer stopped working and we had another in a day and a half. In the meantime, they had offered laundry service, great follow up! We had Chef Billy 3 nights, would not recommend. First night great, then issues with forgetting items, changing times. Would recommend when having grocery shopping done and delivered, ensure you obtain receipt at the time.
Over the Waterfront restaurant was fabulous. Nick B’s and Mangos great food and so much fun!
Looking forward to returning

From the time that we arrived on the island, everything was taken care of for us.
-Luggage was taken to the house for us and unloaded, at the end of our stay it was loaded back up and taken to the dock for us.
-House was nice and cool when we arrived
-Pool was a good size. Not too big, but perfect for lounging and relaxing
-House had everything that it was supposed to, including plenty of towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other assorted beach items.
-Two sets of cornhole boards, which got used a bunch.
-Kitchen was stocked with pretty much all you would need, just bring your groceries.
-Screened-in porches were awesome! The bugs can get pretty bad during the early morning and late evening, but the you would never be able to tell if you're sitting on one of the porches.
-Rooftop deck was super cool. It appeared to be one of the highest on the island and you could see everything from up there.
-The ground floor bar was great! It was screened, as well, and had tons of seating. There was a grill down there and it was a perfect space to relax and have food and drinks.
-Beach was less than a minute walk with a private path. It was extremely private. We only saw a handful of people the entire week
We had a wonderful time on North Captiva and this house contributed to our positive experience in a big way. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to have a relaxing and private vacation on the island.

North Captiva is a quiet island away from it all. It was a nice getaway with my family to detach from the stress of every day.
The house was perfect for 11 of us. The private pool was a lot of fun for the kids. The view is beautiful and taking a quiet nap on the hammock with the island breeze was just what I needed.
North Captiva is still recovering from the hurricane and has a lot of debris and construction that is not safe for the little ones to run around, but fine with adult supervision.
You need to either pack all your food foe the week and deal with transporting it or get Publix delivery or shop at Mangos Convenience Store which is expensive. Choose the lesser of 2 evils.
We had a nice time at the house and always received a quick response with questions.
We rented a boat for the day and enjoyed exploring, shelling and stopping off at Cabbage Key for some drinks.

We rented this property approx 6 months post Ian and all things considered, the house was in great shape. Management was fabulous and everything functioned perfectly. Location was very good. There is still a lot of hurricane debris everywhere, but that is how the island is right now and people are working around the clock to clear it. Would definitely rent again.

Our family enjoyed our Vacation on N Captiva. The SunDancer provided nice accommodations. We really liked the pool and proximity to the beach. The Kitchen, porches and widows walk on top of the house were great.
We were surprised that there was no way to get to the 1st/lower level ( screened party / pool room) from the main/ kitchen level- you have to go down from kitchen level and outside / down 3 flights of stairs. This was not evident in the online photos. Also there was no pool toilet so again, we had to go up 2 flights and into the bathroom there. The golf cart was quite rusty and stained a few items of our clothing. The house should have pest control out to spray for ants and other insects. For these reasons the rating is good- with some room for improvement.
We Did enjoy our stay and made super memories playing cornhole and enjoying the pool and having access to the club facilities. Thank you.

This was our second visit to North Captiva Island. The island is beautiful. We enjoy being able to get away from the hustle and bustle and just have time to relax. Your home was perfect for our family. We had 2 adults and 4 adult children. The house was perfect for all of us. Everything was clean and organized. We had all the cooking utensils, cookware and appliances we needed. The beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of linens. The ice maker was an exceptional plus to making sure we had plenty of ice for our favorite beverages. We spent time during the day at the pool and beach and in the evenings in the screened in areas. The mosquitoes and no see-ums are bad in the evenings, so having the screened in areas was perfect. Being able to bring our fur babies with us was great. They also enjoyed being outside with us in the screened in areas. The beach is a very short walk away. The owners have made it easy by providing beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers and a nice cart to use when hauling all of your beach gear. Our kids enjoyed being able to explore the island by golf cart, Mango’s pool and bar was a hit for all. We swam with the dolphins (for free), seen a manatee being rescued and had a blast watching all the turtles roam around the island. We spent a day on a rental boat island hopping. We went to Cabbage Key for lunch, caught a few sharks and seen a lot of manatees. Yvena made our trip easy and worry free by stocking our groceries for us. We had a few issues that just so happened to happen when we were there, normal issues that happen to anyone who owns a home. She was quick to respond and take care of everything right away. Check in is smooth and easy, they meet you at the ferry take your luggage and bring it right to your home. We are already looking forward to our visit next year. Thank you for making our family vacation amazing.

Great House on the right side of the island for views of the sunset. The rooftop lookout area is great. There is also a ground level gathering area that is perfect for groups. The beach is close and just a couple minute walk. The pool is great as well.

We had an overall great experience with the house and location. I would recommend having your groceries and seafood deliveries set up in advance. The island has only 2 small dining places and a store that carries the smallest amount of supplies.

We had a wonderful week at Sundancer! We had a group of 8 - 3 couples and 2 kids. The property management company was great to work with and made our arrival very smooth. Joseph and CJ met us at the ferry to transport our luggage and show us to the house. We arrived on the island earlier than check in time, but they were still able to accommodate us and the house ended up being ready soon after our arrival. Yvena delivered our groceries to the house and put everything away for us. The house was nice and clean with a beach-y feel. It was a good size for our group. We had plenty of towels, beach towels and extra blankets to curl up with on the couch after a long day in the sun. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for the meals we prepared. We all LOVED the screened in areas, especially the lower level with the hammocks and the High Tides Bar! The private pool was a great convenience. We had daily visits from a local tortoise and a white ibis and enjoyed watching all the lizards! The beach was just a short walk from the house. The property had several beach chairs and a couple of umbrellas available for us to use.
When we weren’t relaxing at the pool or the beach, we spent time fishing, exploring the island, having a cocktail at Mangos, playing cornhole, watching dolphins, kayaking and trying out the local restaurants.
We will definitely be back to North Cap and would stay at Sundancer again!
