About this house rental
Salish Sea Sunset - Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. Welcome to the sunny west side of Bowen Island, with gorgeous ocean views: sailboats, whales (if you're lucky) and eagles soaring by. You are within walking distance to two of the best beaches on Bowen. Whether you snuggle up with a good book in front of the gas stove or explore the many nearby forested trails, the sunsets at the end of the day never disappoint. Business License Bowen Island: #879 Funky antique pine furniture and old growth fir floors meet modern iron fixtures. Smart TV for Netflix etc, board games and jigsaw puzzles for all ages. The kitchen is equipped with full sized stainless appliances including dishwasher, and all the basics for meal prep. The recently installed heat pump makes all the difference for heating...and cooling. Retreat to the king bed in the master bedroom with blackout curtains and 3 piece ensuite for an uninterrupted sleep. The main bathroom has a Mexican hand painted sink set in to a live edge fir countertop. The second bedroom has a cosy queen bed. You will find a variety of books: gardening, art, adventure, travel, and cookbooks in the private office. The laundry room has front loading washer and dryer, recycling bin and cleaning products. Outside you can BBQ on the deck while enjoying the ever-changing ocean view. Or… explore the veggie garden for salad fixings and berries (in season). We will send you a detailed message with check-in instructions on the day of your arrival as soon as your suite is ready. We will do our utmost best to check you in as early as possible. Quiet neighbourhood close to beaches TV: The Samsung remote will operate the TV, but in order to use surround sound for TV or listening to iphone music, you will have to use the Bose remote. The TV is a smart TV, so Netflix or other streaming services are available. For Netflix, we invite you to use the Guest account we created just for you. There is no cable. Parking: you are welcome to park beside the carport or in front of the house For your kids: There are toys, puzzles, and art supplies in the pine cabinet in the dining area. Safety: There are smoke alarms in the hallway outside both bedrooms, and a carbon monoxide alarm beside the main bathroom Heat: The heat pump in the living room is the main source of heat. It is preset to 22 degrees between 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m.. Then the heat lowers to 18 degrees overnight. The white remote for the heat pump is on the table behind the sectional. You can turn it off, increase or decrease the heat...and then it will always return to its regular preset temperatures on its own. The unit in the office is preset to 22 degrees, and will need to just be turned on and off. The gas fireplace is controlled by the black remote - on the shelf beside the fireplace. Press the red button at the same time as the upper right side button to turn on. It takes a minute to fire up. Press the red button to turn off. Toilet: We are on a septic system, so please do not put anything other than toilet paper in the toilet. Anything else will back up the the system, and cause it to malfunction. Garbage: The garbage bin is under the left side of the kitchen sink. No food items are allowed in the garbage. When the bag is full, please take it out to the grey garbage bucket at the back right corner of the carport. Fresh bags are under the sink - behind the garbage bin. Compost: Any food scraps can be put in the compost bin - under the right side of the kitchen sink. If the compost bin gets filled up, please tie the bag up and take to the green compost bucket at the back right corner of the carport. Fresh compostable bags are under the sink beside the garbage bin. Water: The water is safe to drink out of the tap, though there are filtered water faucets in the kitchen and master bath (to filter out the taste of chlorine) Power: The main electrical panel is in the master bedroom beside the front window. Laundry: Washer and dryer are pretty straightforward to use. You will find soap on the shelf across from the washer. Please leave the washer door open after use. You can find beach towels , table cloths etc. here as well. Garden: The garden will be taken care of by our gardeners, but you might hear the water system going on - during the summer.
