Amazing staff, food, view!

Our handsoap was empty and we asked them to refill. We had to remind them the day after since they forgot after we had already asked them.
Otherwise it was good! Nice and clean and comfy beds.

Room was very very hot but lovely location and worth the price

Excellent location, very friendly helpful staff, spotless rooms and facilities, we stayed for a 2 night break couldn’t have picked a better location or hotel, stayed in a family room, huge comfy beds everything you need, and a few extras more. Not a huge chain so lovely and attentive staff, Grassmarket is a great location for the castle, the Royal Mile, old town.Little bonus too you can get to Princess Street on a nice flat walk round the back of the castle great views too, loved our stay here will definitely be back.

The hotel was in the perfect location but it was extremely expensive and slightly overated in my view, the rooms could do with a bit of sprucing up and repair. We had a broken toilet roll holder, there was no extractor fan in the bathroom, there was an old style radiator in the room which was very noisy and the heating was difficult to regulate. There was a very large machine in the room with a broken air vent tube attached to the window. I think it was the air con, it looked a bit ghastly. There was moisture around the windows. It my view not a 4-star hotel, more like a 3-star. The best thing about the hotel was the shower gel and body lotion in bathroom. As for the rest, for the price that we paid £300 per night for a city room view, which overlooked the car park, this was definitely not worth the money.

We had a lovely and very comfortable stay. The hotel is immaculate and the staff are a real credit to you. The location is excellent and our trip was enhanced by the view of the castle. The cocktails were a bit disappointing. The Rob Roy did not taste very nice and it was served in a very plain glass with no flair. The bar service was very good.

I had a good overnight stay at this hotel. Checking in was a bit chaotic, as our room was not ready so we had to check our luggage and return at the end of the day to check in. We did not receive our drinks voucher until we prompted the staff member and a room upgrade was not discussed. But overall it was a good stay and I would return.

One night stay all staff very knowledgeable and professional. I ordered the birthday package which was presented beautifully in the room and the pool and sauna area was lovely. Breakfast was served beautifully and the view from our hotel window was amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

Room was a good size. Asked for shower as pregnant. Given accessible room with wet room. Lots of water all over the bathroom after showering. Pool ok size and was out of order on last day. A bit disappointing as we picked this hotel for pool facilities. Sauna was still working but didn't use. Food was very good at breakfast and dinner. Had 2 free drinks to use at the bar. Good location in centre of Edinburgh. Parking at the back of the hotel for £20/day. For the price, facilities a bit disappointing but the staff were all excellent.

My only complaint was that the beds were uncomfortable and this seems to be how all beds are in hotels across Europe. Other than that, great hotel!

The hotel looks a little dated from the approach but once you enter the inside looks high quality and definitely a touch above your typical chain hotel. We were based on the first floor in a superior room with a balcony. We were not disappointed and loved the extra touches like the duck, hand cream and earplugs. Our only complaints which we reported to reception was a broken coffee table which collapsed with us placing a rucksack on top and the lack of a seal on the shower door which let water spill over the floor. The positives outweighed the few negatives and we were delighted with our direct view of the castle and the vibrant Grassmarket area which bustled with activity. The hotel is in a great location convenient to many attractions and eateries or to use the hop on hop off bus. The bigger and popular eating places are within a fifteen minute walk and Victoria Street leading to the Royal Mile are just ten minutes away (we used this route rather than take the many steps which give a more direct access).
Check in was friendly and helpful although a little long winded when after a long journey all we wanted was to get to our room to freshen up. Check out again was helpful with available bag storage although the queue was long albeit with three receptionists but that’s due to the overwhelming popularity of this hotel.
We used Tesco Clubcard points to pay for our room and feel we a had a super deal.
Would recommend and return again.

Perfect location for tourist sights. Close to good restaurant and bars, book ahead as always busy. Rooms do not have acoustic glazing so even with windows shut you still get the morning noice of builders and rubbish trucks etc also no A/C so you would need windows open in summer and this would make outside noice worse. Would still stay again.

Bathroom wasn’t very well cleaned.
Nice big sized room. Nice decor.
Carpet has bleach spots all over it.
No milk for coffee - you have to ring reception for some, but didn’t get a reply!

AMAZING castle view from our room. A little noisy as people leaving bars at night, but they provide ear plugs.

Average city centre hotel with modern-ish facilities and courteous staff. Decent size room with a good view of the castle. However, the room was unbearably hot and there was no air conditioning to turn down or regulate the temperature. This was in October in Edinburgh (it wasn't hot) so really shouldn't be an issue. There was a small electric fan provided in the room but it was noisy and ineffective. Got absolutely no sleep whatsoever as a result of the high temperature and this really ruined our trip to the city. Would definitely not stay here again.
