The property was very clean
I love historic places and this is a beautiful mansion but I was unaware that it was located within the campus of U.T. The booking website said it was a few miles away from U.T. But it sits right on the Westside of the campus. Also the hotel was great but smaller in person the room was cozy but a few things needed to be upgraded the T.V.s and bed’s specifically and the carpet in the rooms there were also a few cracks under one of the windows, cracks in the wood needed repairing the refrigerator and tv stands were outdated also. It was a cozy little place but for the price I’d pass it’s very overpriced in my opinion if your looking for a good location and value for your money. #NO IRONING BOARDS OR IRONS OR MICROWAVES EITHER

Excellent location, walking distance to University of Texas (half mile), friendly staff, large suites at reasonable prices, gorgeous historic building, charming bar, comfortable beds
Breakfast was expensive - prefer to eat at restaurants nearby

Staying at Hotel Ella is like stepping back in time with the luxury of modern amenities.
Everything about this stay was wonderful.
I had an issue with the room I originally booked and they addressed immediately and upgraded my room. My stay was so relaxing that I extended my stay for another day. Now, Hotel Ella is my new home away from home when visiting Austin!
Nothing!

The staff at the front desk was absolutely marvelous. They went above and beyond and it was greatly appreciated. The valet attend was also very attentive. We eat at the restaurant and appreciated the recommendations the waitress provided. This made our stay very relaxing.

my first impression of the hotel was a completely soiled toilet. the staff’s only reply: this happens. the hotel is in need of a complete overhaul. Our shower was dangerously slippery due to leakage, there is carpet in the rest of the bathroom that was stained and dirty. the bed was old and there’s no safe in the room. Don’t go to this hotel! Dirty, old, noisy and way way overpriced!

loved that it was very boutique feeling and very clean and minimalistic with a pit of charm
I did not like that they were prepping for an event later in the week so there was a lot of yard work happening that was disruptive and meant the outdoor facilities could not be used

location
rather mediocre dining menu

elegant and comfortable

The beautiful tub and unique architecture and furnishings, plus location
the pool area could have more padding on chairs or newer furniture

I wasnt comfortable with the night parking that cost $39!! when the cars were right next to..& visible…from the street & no one watching after 11PM. My UT granddaughter had her car completely packed to drive back home to Ca. the next day. If you’re going to charge for parking, how about making it secure?

good location
the toilet in our room was not functioning. I asked mgr to contact me to discuss possible credit and have been ignored

Location and great bed. Staff was Friendly and helpful.
The bar was comfortable and cozy. However, the bartender made horrible drinks that tasted nothing like what was ordered. Almost undrinkable.

music on the lawn was lovely and the porch was really nice.
the bartender was terrible, couldn't make change for me, kept me waiting, was incredibly rude. the room was small and the one chair was dirty. the bathroom had a big hairball in the middle of the floor. the view of all the rooms. along that side I was staying on have NO view. nothing was done to make the room make up for the lack of view (which I know they can't help).

Comfortable, clean & quiet room with friendly staff. No coffee machine in the room which was unusual.

It was great to have coffee/tea/fruit available all morning. I was not informed about any other breakfast menu, though brunch was served every day.
Loved the service…everyone keen to help and very polite.
Loved the design, decor and atmosphere of the hotel…very relaxing.
Very limited dinner menu.
Could not seem to dine for dinner in Goodalls restaurant. Weather was good, so we were very happy to eat on the veranda.
We were never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, as far as I can recall. It was a strange dining experience, but very enjoyable nonetheless because food was very good and company was good.

Very scenic hotel
Telephone didn't work, tv remote didn't work, carpet in the room didn't look clean, reservation was for room with terrace while the room I was provided did not have one. No trash bags in any of the trash bins. While the bathroom was beautiful, the tub didn't look clean.

The beds were so great! They sucked you up!Poolside was great with a wonderful attendant. Nick was attentive and knowledgeable. Great drinks.
4.1
Location, cleanliness and spaciousness of the room and friendly staff.
I was hoping the room would have been in the main building with the original antique furnishings. Instead we were in a separate building with a more modern feel.
