If you like to imagine what a quality hotel was like away from the big city during the 1930s this is the place. The atmosphere, many of the furnishings and conveniences of the 1930s has been nicely restored. The standard of the 21st century such as safety are blended in nicely. The room is comfortable and cozy. The staff is top rate. I arrived in the evening and the desk person was great and friendly. I felt welcomed,
My only complaint was the parking. You have to park on the street, Silver City being an old mining town , the curbs and pavements along the streets are very uneven, be careful how you walk, you can trip,

The web site was not useful in reporting my overall experience as it would not log in my "clicks" as to the experience with the staff, facility, comfort and location......
Staff was rude and unprofessional. Rooms were comfortable but oddly arranged with the furniture. Location was great in relation to the only open restaurant in Silver City.

The hotel is located in the centre of p very close to the museum of silver city.the staff, in particular Laure at Reception, were extremely helpful and professional
. The breakfast is good, with a waffle machine,as well as bagles,6, cereals as well as fruit juices, coffee and hot water.
The hotel's bedrooms are spacious and comfortable . Finally, there is a movie theatre a few minutes away.. I have no hesitation in staying again n at this delightful hotel that knows how to treat people .
Parking was a slight problem

Downtown location is excellent! The Murray is a historical hotel and it is a large one. it has been rennovated to retain the historical quality and i love that the new carpet and bedroom furnishings are modern but totally reflect the 1930s art deco period. IT cannot be easy maintaining such a large old hotel so i don't mind paying a few more bucks to help the effort . Happy they added a continental breakfast and it is a good one! Staff was very accommodating.
i stayed on a very cold freezing night in December. the hotel uses radiator heat and it was quite comfy during the day but the room got a bit too cool for me as the night progressed. i could not adjust the heat and there were no extra blankets in the room. i went down to the desk and staff gave me a couple of blankets though they weren't really blankets, but very thin knit things, however staff saved the day by sending a space heater up to my room, one of those nice big radiator style ones on wheels and it soon brought the room up to a cozy temperature. Also, Small detail, but , all four pillows were very stout and stiff, it would be nice to have a softer alternative along with a proper extra blanket in the closet, otherwise, if you need a softer pillow, bring one. I still love the Murray, tho, and will stay again.

I wanted to stay in the downtown area near shops and galleries and The Murray fit that. The room was very large and there was a large screen tv and a window a/c unit. Also, the microwave and refrigerator set up was very sleek and black and modern, a strange island in the midst of antique furnishings. Continental breakfast was basic. The lobby had an antique radio playing old music, very nice touch.
Please remember that this building is historic. Bathroom was small, no a/c or vent - open the window. Some of the art deco tile was cracked and the sink was worn. Toilet low and small. Fabric headboard had some stains, mattress was very bouncy but we slept comfortably. Too much furniture blocking the larger closet forcing us to use the smaller one - but hey 2 closets! The room was at the end of a very, very long hall and we had neighbors on both sides in what felt like a big empty hotel. Sadly, greater attention to housekeeping is needed, we found a pair of dirty socks in one of the arm chairs. Again - historic hotel - no a/c in the lobby, just giant fans. And be warned that "free nearby parking" means parking on the street, first come first served.
