About this house rental
Very private cottage walking distance to beach and within 2mi. of town
Our home is near the sea and surrounded by meadows and stone walls. It is very private - the deer, songbirds and crashing waves are your closest neighbors. The house was completely renovated in 2009 . We are walking distance to beach. Winter views of water. We are less than two miles from the town of Little Compton and about 1.3 mi. to the Nature Conservancy's glorious Goosewing Beach. We are surrounded by acres of pristine land protected by conservancy restrictions. We have strategically planted trees to hide cars and neighbors. Trees, meadows, wildlife, stonewalls and waves are your closest neighbors. Have a cup of coffee and watch songbirds, wildflowers and deer through the expanse of sunny, south facing windows.
Enter through the blue barn doors into the downstairs living room with a stone fireplace, a fold out full futon, and a childrens "rainy day" cabinet of games, books and toys. This main floor has 3 bedrooms and two full baths. ( one bath has a 6 ft. antique claw foot tub and heated floors) Washer and dryer are on this floor along with a second refrigerator . The closet in the laundry room holds cleaning supplies and first aid needs.
Climb the stairs to the second floor. You may notice that all of the building material is reclaimed locally. (We attempted to add patina to new construction) The tall ceilings are covered in reclaimed barn wood. The beams and upper floor stone fire place mantel and all the trim were salvaged from a historic Fall River textile mill. The woodburning fireplace works well and we supply wood for you first nights fire. On this floor is the kitchen, dining area, second living room (with fold out queen sofa) and master queen suite with attached full bathroom. The large dining room table can accommodate all guests. This large second floor room boasts a broad expanse of sunny south east facing windows which capture the sunrises and hold midday heat even in the coolest of months. From these windows in the winter we have water views. The house is "an upside down house" with the kitchen and main living room on this second floor to capture the views. The master suite has a queen bed and full bath . The floor of the bathroom can be heated with a flick of a switch. A loft ladder behind the fireplace takes you to the upper bedroom which has two twin beds, a television, a telescope and distant views of the ocean.
Outside off of the second floor dining area/kitchen double doors lead to a large outdoor porch. There is an expandable cedar dining table that can accommodate everyone along with a gas grill and more seating.
Life outside can be enjoyed walking the trails cut through our 5 acres of meadow. We have a circular stone campfire area with outdoor seating off of the south east corner of the house. Between the east side of the house and the large evergreens we have a Petanque court. After a long day outside one can also wash off in the large outdoor shower . (In the late afternoon if the sun is just right it heats up the shampoo and shower gel on the shelf) Then hang your towel on the outside line to dry and relax in the hammock!

My friends and I like to spend time talking and catching up which made this place perfect for us. We spent most days cooking, walking on the beach and talking into the night. We drove to Newport and Bristol for touristy activities which also made this place perfect. It is secluded and still within 30-40 minutes from the heart of Newport. I highly recommend this property.

This was the perfect spot for plant enthusiasts to escape the ferver of their home gardens and enjoy the serenity, serendipity and spectacle of Sakonnet Garden. This well appointed and comfortable home was everything we needed—sprawling vistas, birds and stars.
Host was so generous and responsive!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
Starting with the host, Avila was incredibly responsive, hospitable, and kind. She was always there to address any questions and was accommodating when it came to a last minute addition of two dogs. She clearly communicated check in and check out instructions, and even gave us a list of some local spots to check out.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a hand written note, a bottle of wine, and a binder with all of the information any guest could ask for. What a nice touch.
After reading the included history of the property and home with a glass of wine in hand, we explored the rest of the home and property.
This was the first VRBO experience I have had that truly felt like a breath of fresh air. The grounds are serene and peaceful, and the landscaping and natural growth of trees and shrubbery hides any hint of neighboring homes. The home itself is incredibly well thought out, and every single room has a cozy feeling where one can enjoy the company of others, or just take in the artifacts, art, and accoutrement that adorn every inch of the home.
I would be more than happy to rent from Avila year after year, and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway in an inspired home.

The house is beautiful and specious. We are a family of 8 including 2 toddler grandchildren and it was a great home in which to spend a week. The upstairs kitchen, dining area and living room is one continuous room and was warm and nicely fit our needs. Off the kitchen/dining area there is a wonderful deck. The grounds are beautiful and surrounded by protected land. We were visited almost daily by a several deer.
Little Compton is quite beautiful, surrounded by beaches, farms and farm markets and pretty preserves for nice walks. We even played tennis on the 2 town courts. It is both beautiful and very quiet - which was great for us. Our family loved the area.

Spring Break in Little Compton
Just what the doctor ordered - a change of scenery, a family gathering, and lots of outdoor beauty. This barn house in Little Compton was the perfect host to our vacation - spacious and comfortable with lots of character. Loved playing petanque, hunting for Easter eggs, spotting coy-wolf and deer. Took a sweet little hike through Wilbour Woods, had breakfast at Groudswell, and spent day in Newport. Definitely recommend!

Christmas Week Bliss
My husband, adult children and my mother celebrated Christmas in this very spacious, comfortable and well appointed home. The kitchen has everything you need! Our communication with the owner was easy and she had many great suggestions, (do not miss an opportunity to get lobster at Sakonnet Lobster.) The property is private, beautiful and a short walk to the beach which was a big hit with our grand dog! This is a great house for a special family gathering.

Great property and wonderful hosts
This is a terrific house in a great location, with wonderful views and quiet surroundings. Everything in the house worked as advertised, and there are two functional fireplaces, with enough firewood provided for all our needs. When we arrived, we noticed that the hammock had been taken down for the season, but the hammock stand was still outside. When I mentioned this to our hosts, they let me know that it had fallen apart and they were going to replace it, and promptly ordered one to be delivered during our stay! Great responsiveness, flexibility on check-in and check-out times. Would highly recommend this host and property!

Lovely Little Compton Girlfriends Getaway
We truly enjoyed our time in Little Compton. It was just what we needed. The perfect escape from NYC. The area is peaceful & beautiful. Avila was very easy to reach & easy to talk to. We had one minor snafu in the beginning but it was quickly rectified & we went on to enjoy our stay. My girlfriends & I had a lovely stay filled with lots of eating, laughing, drinking & some serious Jenga matches!

Sibs Long Weekend
This amazing home has rustic charm, is well kept and is updated with modern conveniences. The large family room has a beautiful fireplace. One of the small sofas, however, is in need of replacement. The beds are comfortable. The host was attentive and gracious.

Peaceful getaway
If you are looking for a relaxing time spent with loved ones, this is the place! The property is so lovely and spacious it was hard not to spend time outside! The kitchen was so well stocked with supplies, the owners were always quick to respond to any questions, and there was ample space for everyone. To me, the fact that there wasn't much around to do (e.g. not even gas a station in town) was incredibly appealing and made for a perfect weekend away

Great multi-generational getaway!
This was a homey, restful escape for three generations! The cozy gathering areas, well-equipped kitchen, panoramic views, comfortable beds, and plenty of romping area outside made for a great covid-safe family vacation. The fields and sky were so beautiful even in March, and we all enjoyed local walks and some good down time. The decor is so stylish but unfussy, with beautiful original art and natural finishes and materials.

Great relaxing stay
The property is clean, large, and private and was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway. The host gave us plenty of recommendations to do around Little Compton and all of them were home runs. They communicated well if there were any questions and seemed to be on top of everything. If we're ever in the area again we'll definitely stay at this home again!

Beautiful setting, unique and well-equipped lovely home
We had a fantastic long weekend in beautiful Little Compton and surrounding areas. There is so much to see and do and fall is especially lovely here. At the end of a fun-filled day we enjoyed relaxing in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine and some cheese. The fireplace is very deep and one of the best we've had the pleasure to use. Waking up and looking out on the home's stunning grounds with vast fields and quaint stone walls while enjoying a cup of coffee was a true delight. The heated bathroom floor was a thoughtful touch and a very welcome luxury on a chilly morning. This beautifully constructed home is a true gem and we are looking forward to returning for a longer stay.

She gave us many excellent tips for what to do and where to go. We are hoping to turn this into an annual tradition now and look forward to the next time we get to stay here!

A gorgeous spot
Lovely, comfortable home set among grassy meadows and stone walls on the Little Compton coast. The house is spacious, well appointed, and filled with light, with plenty of room for multiple adults to cook and eat together, gather in front of the fireplace, or retreat to private spaces both indoor and out. We loved the setting, and appreciated all the amenities provided, which included 6 ears of the best sweet corn November ever produced - inspiration for a dinner of the best and freshest lobster ever. We had great weekend!

A wonderful wedding weekend!
I cannot say enough good things about this rental! Our group of 3 couples, 3 singles, and a baby (plus two dogs and a mother-in-law hired for last minute babysitting) had a WONDERFUL time here while visiting the area for a friend's wedding. The location is idyllic and peaceful, the house is truly a unique and beautiful homage to reclaimed materials, and the views are breathtaking. The kitchen was well appointed and the host left us some special treats to welcome us. Beds were comfortable and our only minor comment would be that the place could use a good dusting! But, this is to be expected with such high ceilings and large open living spaces.
The host, Brent and his daughter Avila were incredibly accommodating, letting us check in early to get ready for the rehearsal dinner, and check out late after the post-wedding brunch.
The deer are a delight to wake up to in the morning while you enjoy a coffee on the deck. A walk around the beautifully managed and maintained meadows is only rivaled by a shower in the outdoor shower under a blue sky! The beach is a short walk away and it was great fun to watch the surfers enjoy the waves brought in by a recent tropical storm.
We will certainly be returning to this gem of a property. Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend!

Spectacular Oasis
We recently rented this property for out of town guests visiting for our wedding. They were all blown away by the beauty of the house, the attention to detail, and the idyllic setting. The collective sentiment was that the property was like a "Rhode Island" postcard anywhere you looked.
Avila had prepped the house with a hand written welcome letter, maps, tips, wine, and some snacks. She is a tremendously gracious and courteous host. Can not recommend highly enough!
