A bit noisy on the street side

Friendliness. Staff helpful. Location to beach and centre of Malo about 30 minute walk .
No tea or coffee facilities in the room. Everything basic. Breakfast adequate but basic.

The bed is very comfortable and the room is clean and cozy. The location is good. It is approximately 25 minutes from the walled city but next to the beach and in a very quiet area.
The wifi signal was not very good in my room.

friendly hotel, full of character, excellent location, we stay regularly. It is within easy walking stance of a very sophisticated beach and nice shops and restaurantts. Also appreciate ease on on street parking and residential neighbourhood
no problems. We like this hotel. Unusual sometimes but we enjoy our stays.

Good place to stay for one night.
I checked-in at 21:30 and there was nobody at
the reception desk. The key to my room was left on the door which was a bit odd.

The beds make a lot of noice.

Location
I came to Saint Malo hoping to have a quick, relaxing get-away. Instead I had such a terrible experience with this hotel that it severely put a damper on my weekend.
To begin with, there is absolutely no security at night other than a thin glass door with no physical person to keep an eye on the property beginning around 8:30pm!! The breakfast, which is expensive for what they offer, was pathetic. There was practically nothing left to eat 45 min before the end of the breakfast time slot with only one couple having breakfast when I arrived (can't say that they were too busy to make sure that there was fresh fruit, milk, bread etc. available!!) The room I had smelled musty and of mildew (I had to leave the window open during my absence during the day which made me nervous considering the lack of security). Something strange happened to one of the walls as a small portion of one wall was poorly painted a different color than the rest of the room making it look unkept and decrepit. Why they couldn't just use the same color is beyond me. The television didn't work except for 2 channels which weren't even the local ones that I needed to have a proper weather report! The only amenity they give is shower gel. No drinking water, no individual hand soap, nothing. The toilet paper is tiny individual sheets and the toilet seat cover doesn't stay up easily which meant that it needed to be held while using the facilities. The walls are incredibly thin so you hear everything around you. Twice I thought someone was trying to get into my room as the sound of the key going into the door next to mine was so loud. I was woken both mornings by noise in the hallway (which consisted simply of people walking in the halls and opening their doors).
Overall there are many other 3 star hotels in Saint Malo that are properly concieved with proper service and ammenities.

Large room near the front door.
Everything else. I got an mail late evening whilst on ferry from Jersey saying my card had been declined. It asked for an alternative card which I provided. A second email stated that my second card had been accepted and processed. I arrived at hotel at 11.30 pm to find firstly that there was no parking and the hotel was in darkness. After driving around the block a few times I found on street parking and had to walk a few blocks. I rang the doorbell several times before it was finally answered by a grump and rude night porter. After I gave my name he rudely told me that my booking had beem cancelled as card was declined and told me I should find somewhere else to sleep. I told him my new card had been accepted and processed but he didn't care. I offered my card and it was processed (again?).
Finally got into large room with open window whivh I immediately closed but it did little to block out the noise from outside of people shouting and car noise. Bed was dreadful, it had a piece of nasty wood to the side which prevented you reaching the light switch. The top and bottom of the bed had bits of sharp wood to cut your hands and feet. I took photos in the morning to prove this. I checked out at 7.30 am on the Sunday morning but there were no staff on reception for me to give feedback. I walked into breakfast area to see if I could get a coffee but again mo staff around.
Quite possibly the worst hotel I habe ever had the misfortune to stay at. So very differemt to the othet Brit Hotel opposite the aquarium.
