Everything about this lovely pub is great, but especially its amazing riverside beer garden.
4.3
Location was ideal focus and we enjoyed the evening meal as well as the breakfast, all served by helpful friendly staff.
Beer was excellent too!

Lovely pub, staff very friendly and the food was great .

Lovely village setting. Super riverside beer garden (when it's sunny), the fairly regular bus stop is just outside the pub. There's another pub, the Bruce Arms, just across the road. Fab location for walkers and dog owners. We didn't have a meal there, but lots of diners seemed to enjoy the pub grub.
We arrived at 2pm, the bar shut at 3pm, all the lights out, very unwelcoming. The bedroom/bathroom was very dated, the floorboards creaked like mad, I appreciate it's a lovely old place, but so annoying going to the loo in the middle of the night, waking my husband, then him me. An earlier review said the breakfast was amazing. Sadly ours wasn't. Despite booking a specific time to eat, the full English was awful. The bacon and sausage had obviously been cooked sometime earlier and kept warm, so were tough, no choice of eggs, rubbery mushrooms. Maybe we caught them on a bad day.

Really friendly staff and locals. The food (evening and breakfast) was exceptional.
The extremely creaky floors in the accommodation, and the location on a busy road along with a very noisy bar did not lend to a quite night.
4.3
Good breakfast, pleasant staff and a beautiful view out over the beer garden to the river.
Wifi !!! :-( ... Was NEEDED, and was advertised as being free + available ! It wasn't throughout the whole Friday evening. I needed to finish work that I had to submit the evening we arrived... but no matter how many times I tried, over the course of several hours, the internet was not available. Advice was sought from the barman downstairs, but no-one could help. I had to set my alarm earlier on the Saturday morning to see if the Wifi would connect to the internet then... fortunately it did! So, I was able to complete and submit the work.
Also, the light above the bathroom mirror... was MISSING ! :-(
Also, mistakes were repeatedly made when we came to settle up ... we would have been significantly overcharged for the stay if we had not been confident and aware to keep challenging the fee.
