TIDEAWAY, OCEAN HIDEAWAY TIDEAWAY is located down a private lane just under a mile from Fort Bragg and a short, straight drive south to the quaint village of Mendocino. Step out of your car, take a deep breath, and be prepared to relax. There is nothing like the fresh salty sea air!
Expect to be awed by the spectacular panorama of ocean views as you step into TIDEAWAY, your ocean hideaway. This “Frontier Redwood Home” features walls of fine old-growth redwood. The spacious open floor plan faces a wall of windows to the vast Pacific Ocean. There is an ocean view from every room! Visitors find themselves unwinding and relaxing while watching the relentless motion of the sea. The gas fireplace provides cozy warmth as guests settle into the comfortable seating. Enjoy reliable, wireless, high-speed internet and Xfinity TV that allows you to stream your favorites on the Smart TV. There is a DVD collection featuring movies filmed right on the Mendocino Coast. A second TV is located in the master bedroom. There is also a table for games and puzzles.
The large updated kitchen has high-end appliances, including a refrigerator with ice maker, range with convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster oven, blender, food processor, hand mixer, and even a popcorn maker. The Weber Grill is located on the covered east porch just a few steps from the kitchen. Shopping is only a 5-minute drive to Harvest Market for your fresh local food. The coast also offers fantastic restaurants. Sample menus are in our guidebook.
The master features a large walk-in shower and a Corian integrated counter height sink. The spacious bathroom looks out on the private garden area to the south. The huge picture window allows the guests to lie in bed and watch the ever-changing ocean from the luxury of their comfortable bed.
Lists year-round festivals: crabs, salmon, mushrooms, seaweed, whales and more. There is always something happening year-round on the rugged Mendocino Coast.
With the spotting scope, you might see the Harbor Seal draped on a rock just off Botanical Garden Bluff or watch fishing boats. Seasonal whale watching, sea birds including brown pelicans, seagulls, Canadian geese, oystercatchers, and more can be seen. You might even be lucky enough to witness an Osprey catching a fish in the surf below. Feel adventuresome? Charter boats are available out of Noyo Harbor, and you can enjoy your own fresh catch of the day for dinner. Watch sunsets from the dining room windows that were added to allow even closer 180+ degree unobstructed views.
The private four-person hot tub on the bluff offers a sensational ocean escape. The hypnotic motion of the waves helps to increase a sense of calm and peacefulness. Guests agree that it is hard to leave TIDEAWAY, YOUR OCEAN HIDEAWAY.
Sorry, but no access to the tide pools due to bluff erosion. Not suitable for children.
Whatever your pleasure, a stay at this gorgeous, updated oceanfront Northern California vacation rental is sure to be a delight!

It was an awesome place to stay. Very comfortable very clean. Locations is awesome.

In my 30+ years of renting homes on the coast (long before there was a Vacasa or VRBO presence here) this MAY be the best house I've stayed at.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals, which is not always the case. It felt like you had access to all the first rate items, and were not relegated to the use of just the "hand-me-downs".
There was more than enough living area and seating for the maximum quest occupancy of 4 - I seriously doubt this house is only 1300 sq. ft. - it seemed much larger. The location is fantastic, very private and secluded due to the large property and grounds.
This is a great house and it is fortunate that the owners have made their home available for others to share.
We will definitely be back

We spent our 50th wedding anniversary here. We were not disappointed. Enjoyed our time there

The only criticism is the size of the shower. It's very small, maybe 32" x 32" or 36" x 36". Didn't bother me, but my wife had difficulty.

The views are beautiful and the location is very quiet and private. However, the home is not being maintained and updated in accordance with the prices being charged per night. The listing doesn’t tell you the two stairways down to the beach are both broken and taped off with caution tape. Also doesn’t tell you the only bedroom provided is one of three and has a window right next to the trash cans.

This was perfect home for 2 with excellent oceanfront views. The sounds of the ocean from the bedroom window were perfection. We enjoyed the hot tub as well and was a great way to start and end the day. Excellent amenities and we didn’t need anything except the groceries we bought. We’ll be back for sure.

We stayed a week at this wonderful location. My wife didn't want to leave (neither did I)! We can't wait to book again!

My husband & I spent a decadent 10 days which included New Years. It stormed and rained the majority of the time. This house overlooks the ocean. It was hypnotizing watching the ocean waves during the storms and rain. We did lose power a few times but briefly. The gas fireplace kept us warm and toasty. The kitchen table worked out perfect for my jigsaw puzzle.

What a gorgeous home and site on the coast. We loved the views, the sounds, the comfy furniture. We were treated to sunsets, lightning, rain and sun rays and could choose our perfect perches inside or out. The kitchen was fully equipped which made cooking fun, but if I had one suggestion it would be for more lighting in the kitchen. Old eyes like mine had to grab the flashlight a couple of times to figure out the stove controls or other things. But everything was there! A great house.

Location of this home is hard to beat. access down to the tide pools is the key; however, consider the stairs does not go all the way down so some down climbing is needed. The spotting scope was a great! we were able to spot some whales miles off shore. The house was clean when we arrived.
The kitchen is well stocked and we were able to made great meals. The bed was comfortable consider we normally sleep on relative stiff setup at home. we did bring our own pillows. The front garden is very nice. The only complaints were the back screen door as mentioned in other reviews. please, fix this so no bugs flies in while we allow the nice sea breeze through the house. there is no other back window can be open other than in the bedroom. The shower is small and tight with a big shower head. Maybe a removable handheld showerhead? Also, if you have any issue, it's best to contact the local manager via the text message. the Vacasa 800 number operator is not the best for help. use the text number they provide you.

We Loved the privacy, the Hot tub , the view. The kitchen!!

Home was very clean. Kitchen was very well stocked with pots/pans/plates/glasses/utensils. Fantastic views! Hot tub was excellent! Front yard garden was beautiful! Previous reviews are correct, the mattress is on the soft side, however I don't think it's old, I think it's just a soft mattress. Bring your own pillows. Shower is small, shower head is too big for the small shower and therefore sprays against the opposite wall and not down on your head. It's a hand held shower head and you have to hold it to shower.

Beautiful home and property! Fort Bragg is our favorite town along the California Coast:)

This home is perfectly situated at the end of a private road, right on the cliff’s edge. There are wonderful views out of the wall to wall back windows. The kitchen is very nice and (refreshingly) well stocked with quality dishes and cooking utensils, etc. The main living area is very comfortable and perfect for relaxing. The only thing that keeps us from giving the home 5 stars is that the bed and bedding (pillows!) are in need of replacement.

This home is an absolute treasure. This home is the ideal rental for anyone looking for a relaxing, low key getaway to the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area. The directions for finding the property could be a little better (Google maps was relaible until we got to the street of the property) but that is our only gripe - just head down the street until you can drive no further and you're there. The kitchen was well appointed, the home was warm and the jacuzzi overlooking the ocean is exactly as perfect as the pictures show. We would love to come back and stay at this gorgeous property!

A whale of a good time.
We were here during the gray whale southern migration. Saw whales every day, including, breaching and flukes. The kitchen is particularly well equipped which was great during a time when indoor restaurant dining wasn't a great idea. Nice access to the private tidepools for those willing to brave the steps down. We'd be happy to stay again in the future.

By the sea
The house and garden were absolutely lovely and the ocean view was superb. The kitchen was well stocked and the houses large windows offered stunning ocean views. I would recommend some towel hooks outside by the hot tub and a firmer mattress in the bedroom.

Tideaway is situated down a private road and perched on the ocean's edge with a spectacular 180-degree view that you won't want to leave. The house is beautifully designed with huge paired exposed beams and clerestory windows that illuminate the kitchen and great room wonderfully. There is a deck that invites you to see and relax which will result in you not wanting to leave your patio chair. We saw whales blowing offshore around sunset time. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything that you need to prepare a meal like at home. I will end by giving it my highest compliment which is: I look forward to returning in the future.

This home was the (almost) perfect getaway! Such a stunning view and cozy place, so conveniently located to everything fun. The only downsides were that the hot tub was dirty and the kitchen was infested with fruit flies when I got there. I set up a few fruit fly traps that helped but they persisted the whole stay and made it a pain to cook or have food in the house, and I didn't want to get into a hot tub that had a bunch of stuff floating around. Other than that, would have been 5 stars!!
