Closest to greyhound station
Blocked toilets, no staff, noisy dorms, nobody following the rules.

Really cute hostel, nice social spaces and big kitchen. Good location. Free tea and coffee.
Everyone living there, not social for backpackers. They want a 70 dollar cash deposit for key and cutlery and if you're checking out early they take your bank details on a scrap of paper?? Which is not safe at all. Also reception is barely open, closed for 3 hours in the middle of the day. They need to hire more people to have better service.

Moody front of house shocking arrive beds very uncomfortable would have better in a prison sell bed bugs. Showers shocking. Don’t go!!
3.2
comfortable facilities, pleasant communal areas, picnic tables
3.2
The room was relatively comfortable and clean - unlike the rest of the hostel.
Honestly do not recommend staying here. The place looks and feels like a prison. The guy behind the desk was rude and not very pleasant.
We were told we had no aircon in our room on arrival although we were unaware of this on booking.
Kept up all night by the night club underneath the hostel. Kitchen and bathrooms were dirty and not kept up with cleaning.

Great location
The staff were very unfriendly.
3.2
Very poor wifi
3.2
Location is close to ferry & bus terminal
Super long instructions for check in and rules only post booking, ie inconvenient reception opening times when needing to arrange early check out. Said to bring cash deposit so paid to get cash out but wasn’t needed. Tiny room and very few bathrooms for about 30 rooms. Moderately clean. No air con and very loud fan.
3.2
Nice outside seating area, kitchen was well set up with plenty of cutlery and crockery. Private double room had A/C and fan which worked well as well as a small fridge
Guy who ran the hostel was quite stand-off-ish and passive aggressive, like he just desperately didn’t want to be there. Lots of hostel guests left their dirty crockery in the common areas all day until staff cleaned it for them, which attracted lots of bugs. Couldn’t use the kitchen from 10.30-11.30 each day, and you couldn’t use the cooker in the early evening and early morning which is frustrating if you’re getting up early / getting back late from day trips etc. The WiFi also wasn’t great and only worked some of the time.

good price

The property was very nice and interesting. There was good outdoor spaces and also covers from the rain.
The only issue we had was that upon arrival there was nowhere for us to leave our bags so we had to leave them in the unlocked lobby area.

The outside area is cute and it has a very nice location. It’s close to the bus stop and the ferry as well as greyhound terminal. It was also super close to the main restaurants and stuff.
You have to leave a key deposit, and even though I indicated when I would check out there was no one at reception which means they’ve kept the deposit even though I’ve checked out on time. There were two older assumably long term guests that impacted the vibe and my personal comfort level. The bathrooms were not very clean and two of them were closed for the duration of my stay

Bed was ok
Very poor customer service. Arrived around 7:30 in the evening and was very poorly treated. The man didn’t even look at me and was mumbling the rules instead of explaining them clearly. No one is obligated to work but if you decide to at least do the minimum. Good customer service is a must, especially for this kind of business.

clean and comfortable
room was next to a noisy road and pub

The room was spacious and very clean, the beds were confirmed with good linens. The bathrooms were clean and close by the room. Good price and decent location.
There is a fee to get a towel. Office hours are limited, closed from 12:30 to 3:30, Greyhound at 1:00, nowhere to hold luggage. Need to provide $20 cash deposit, if leaving before office opens in the morning, must make arrangements, in person, before 6 pm the night before to get your money back-- this can be really difficult if you're out enjoying your day, kinda seems like a bit of an money grab. Biggest issue is the noise from the bar next to the building-- it's incredibly loud and it lasts until 3am, definitely bring your ear plugs.
3.2
Cheap and convenient for our 1 night stay. Really clean facilities and short walk from greyhound bus stop and ferry to magnetic island.
No towels provided (I understand it’s a hostel so it’s common) closed from 12.30-3.30 for check in but you do have the option to ring up and organise an alternative
3.2
Everything reasonably clean, good location.
Staff not very friendly, very short reception hours, WiFi not working, weirdly strict house rules posted in a very rude tone. Somewhat ironically, regarding the WiFi, signs are posted that explain it's the guests' fault for using it too much (IMO the property should have facilities that are actually able to sustain all the guests)
3.2
Clean room and facilities, Garden settings great, easy access to town and Strand areas.
Nothing

Friendly staff close to most things
