About this house rental
Our house is the most spacious of any accommodation in the area.
It is perfectly suited for families’ holidays and get-togethers, those guests seeking outdoors adventure, and for everyone, a brilliant place to relax and enjoy the location’s stunning scenery, the breathtaking sunsets and the myriad of stars on a cloudless night.
Local businesses offer bike and kayak rentals, allowing guests to explore the local area and enjoy the views and activities right outside Tigh Na Breac's doorstep. The house provides a tranquil retreat yet remains conveniently close to Oban for shopping and amenities.
Upon entry, the hallway features coat hooks, shoe storage, bench seating, and an adjoining restroom with a shower.
The heart of the home is the expansive vaulted living space (8m x 8m), highlighted by a floating hearth and a substantial log burner. It boasts ample comfortable seating for 14 people, complete with a sound system compatible with CDs and iPods, and an extensive CD collection for your perusal and use. There is also a large collection of books and games for your enjoyment.
The modern kitchen has extensive storage, a double drawer dishwasher, fridge, freezer, an induction hob with five rings, two large ovens, and a sizeable grill. In addition, there's a Quooker tap for instant hot water, negating the need for a kettle, alongside a filter coffee machine. There is ample crockery, cutlery, and glasses. The kitchen is very well equipped for all you will need. It is a fantastic place to cook whilst enjoying the company of other guests.
The dining area has a sizable refectory table that sits 14 comfortably, with stunning views of the Loch and sunsets.
The house comprises 7 bedrooms, including 5 doubles and 2 convertible twins/doubles, all featuring super-king-size beds, while the master bedroom delights with a bed measuring 7' x 6'6" and a luxurious en-suite bathroom. A total of 6 bathrooms are available throughout the property.
An additional TV room offers cozy seating, a smart TV, DVD player, a cupboard full of DVD’s to keep all ages entertained and this room also has a log burner.
Outside a substantial 2.4m deck around three sides of the lower level Tigh na Breac, offering stunning views across the Loch, accessible via French doors from the TV Room, Master bedroom, and Baxter suite. There are two bench seats (cushions indoors) and some Director’s chairs to enjoy the space and views from the balcony, a fantastic place for an evening drink or a morning cup of coffee.
There is an additional snug/reading room with lots of books and a quiet area to relax and read.
For nature enthusiasts and otter spotters, the bay has been known for otter sightings, including solitary otters, mothers with cubs, and even, on rare occasions, the fathers. Although sightings are subject to weather and tide conditions and cannot be promised, many guests have captured remarkable videos and photographs.
For bird watchers, the house is a prime location to observe White-Tailed Sea Eagles, Buzzards, Eider Ducks, Goosanders, Red Breasted Merganser, Mallards, Herons, as well as rarer species such as Peregrine Falcons, Merlin’s, and Golden Eagles, there are many other birds to be spotted. Further up the loch there is a seal colony, and they often play in the bay in front of the house.
Fishing opportunities are bountiful both in sea and freshwater, with notable catches recorded in Loch Etive. Anglers at the house have easy access to rich fishing spots, including where shoals of mackerel have been caught from the shore. Boat hire is available through Taynuilt Boat Hire, with delivery options straight to the nearby jetty.

Andrew did an excellent job helping me prepare for staying at his beautiful home. The location was stunning, and the house was extremely well stocked. We had a fantastic time.

A great property in a fabulous location and very well equipped too.
Andrew was extremely helpful and responsive and we were made to feel welcome and valued.
Red deer stags walking past your front door, a sighting of a pine marten, eagles soaring overhead and an otter swimming in the mirror like water. A little taste of paradise!

The approach to the property alone sets the scene for an experience. The property is lovely with so much room and many amenities. The view across the loch was breathtaking. Lucky enough to see deer and seals from the bedroom windows. The house stayed warm through the storms which even for the area were pretty extreme according to the locals. Absolutely nothing requires complaint it was a brilliant property. Definitely great for hide and seek lol

We - a group of three families - had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this house. It's lochside location was beautiful and collectively we enjoyed many hours scanning the water for the sea otters which sadly proved elusive, although we were visited by seals, heron and red deer. There was ample room to accommodate all of us across the various living spaces when the weather turned inclement. Would recommend without hesitation.

This house is HUGE! It offers privacy for larger groups. The home is fairly isolated, but in the best possible way. We travelled through the region without difficulty. There is abundant wildlife and walking paths around the house. Down the road a wee bit there is a honesty box with homemade baked goods. This area of Scotland is a huge hidden gem. I recommend hiking to Gylen Castle ruins on the Isle of Kerrera, a short ferry ride from Oban. Circling back to the house, I can not think of words to adequately express how wonderful it is!

Property is as described and extremely nice. Well stocked and great provision of facilities. There are many knick knacks in the house which mean the house isn't overall that child friendly.
The Loch and views are great.
The outside of the house could be improved by a bit of TLC and some small elements could be finished off inside the house.
There was a concern about the water during our stay and so we had to purchase water for all of our consumption.
Overall a nice house and a good stay.

Great house for a gathering
It is rare to find such a house on the West coast that has such great plumbing! We had seven bedrooms with six bath/shower rooms all with hot towel rails. The underfloor heating meant we were always warm and we had no hesitation about adventuring out in all weathers, knowing we could have a hot shower and get all our kit dry when we returned from our adventures. This house really is set up for big family gatherings, it made our stay really comfortable which meant everyone was happy!

Amazing Easter weekend
This home is amazing, so lucky to have stayed there. Very well equipped kitchen, lots of space for teenagers and younger kids to do their own thing but then plenty of room for all 12 of us to get together and enjoy a very special time.
We’ve biked, hiked, paddle boarded, ran, swam, seen otters and deer.
Host was very helpful with info about local areas.

Lakes Swimmers on Tour
Bound by a swimming commonality we’ve had some excellent weeks away over the last few years & this was no exception. Lots of space for the 10 of us, warm, comfortable & well equipped for our home cooking. Plus a water system that coped with us all having showers at the same time after dips in the bay! After the first dip on the evening of arrival, 12.2 deg in the loch, spotted an otter … then looked out from the balcony to see the red deer strolling down the road, next day a golden eagle … a full Scottish experience. The weather wasn’t great but when you have such a good place to come back to you can do anything. Even a bus service! £2.40 return to Oban! This was a great place for us.

Amazing Holiday
Beautiful location with stunning views. The house is amazing with everything you need, and we had seals swimming in the bay in front of the house and we returned home on the bus one day and an amazing stag was resting on the driveaway!
Just a brilliant holiday with friends.

An amazing 10 days in an amazing house.
An amazing 10 days in an amazing house. Stunning location. We hired a boat for a week from TFC across the bay, to explore the Loch. Fishing, walking, seal spotting, and visited by stags on several occasions. So remote, yet with a bus stop outside the property allowing easy access to Oban, 3 or 4 services per day. Actually situated close to a low-key working quarry, but you honestly wouldn't know it, impact to us was zero. The house itself wants for nothing. Spacious enough to give a party of 12 their own areas, whilst the communal floor allows for great get-togethers. Kitchen equipped to an exceptionally high standard. For the only time we needed Andy to help us out with a favour, he was immediately available and overly accommodating. Thanks for sharing the use of your lovely property.

House on stilts by Loch Etive
We were a group of 10 - 3 families, with 5 adults and 5 children aged 5, 8, 9, 9 & 10. The kids loved the ‘big house’. It has a very quirky layout and they all had fun playing hide and seek, even the adults joined in.
The house is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is fantastic for cooking for large groups and there’s an endless supply of cutlery and crockery, pots, dry ingredients and even stuff for baking.
We saw stags, seals and otters right on the doorstep and had amazing views over the Loch. We were there for the first week of July and had beautiful weather with no midges, although they were out in force when we were packing up the car to leave.
The house is in a stunning location and very remote but within an easy drive of Oban. If you’re looking for a beach there’s a lovely one at Ganavan Bay, also a lovely pebbley beach at Dunstaffnage Castle good for stone skimming.
Halfway down the road from the house is a wee home baking stall with an honesty box. We got lovely fresh scones (supplied with napkin, knife, butter and jam!) and home made empire biscuits.
There was no garden space outside for the kids but they made do with rock climbing and scrambling about at the back of the house. They also loved using the many pairs of binoculars in the house to look for wildlife.
I’d recommend this house for big groups, ,especially if you love cooking, the kitchen is amazing. We got a Tesco delivery on the first night which I’d arranged a couple of weeks in advance - the closest supermarket is in Oban.
We had a fantastic holiday in this house and I would thouroughly recommend it.

Fantastic loch-side holiday house and base from which to explore the Highlands
The property is fantastic. Really spacious, well maintained and finished to a high spec. All mod cons and equipment are available. Most importantly it has incredible views of the loch and is surrounded by amazing countryside. Pretty special to see stags wandering about just outside the house, plus a seal or two in the loch. Great base for visiting Oban, Glencoe and many other fantastic locations. Highly recommend.

Phenomenal
This was the most spectacular house and we've had such a wonderful week, many thanks indeed. The setting is incomparable with uninterrupted views across Loch Etvie from all directions - utterly glorious. We were also blown away by the beauty of this house, there's so much space (ideal for two teenagers) and so many exciting nooks and crannies to discover (which delighted the 5-year old). The quality of everything is second to none and the house is wonderfully laid out. The bird-watcher among us was thrilled by the abundance of sightings (including eagles above the house) and the daily otter and seal visits were brilliant! We also had the most fantastic day when we hired a motor boat for the day from Taynuilt (delivered virtually to the house) and explored the loch independently. Many thanks indeed Andrew for the most marvellous stay!!

Great Christmas at Tigh Na Breac
We had a brilliant Christmas and made lots of lovely memories. We paid for a piper to play on Christmas eve on the balcony which was great with the scenery. We seen seals and otters, went fishing and went on a train ride. The house is beautiful and very well looked after. I would recommend to anyone. I hope one day we get to go back. Also, Andrew, the owner, has been brilliant before, during and after our trip. Thank you

Fantastic holiday house
We were a group of 4 families on our annual New Year holiday break and this is one of the best holidays homes we have stayed in over the last 10 years. It is a great location with beautiful views with lots of walking options. The teenage kids enjoyed some safe cycling along the road back towards Connel Bridge stopping off to do some stone skimming at the side of the loch. The house was so well equipped and the dining table was a great focal point. The layout of the house is quite difficult to follow on the floorplan but Andrew was very helpful explaining all the rooms and it all worked out for us. I would recommend Tigh na Breac for a gathering of family or friends at anytime of the year and would love to return during the summer months so we could enjoy more of the beautiful scenery.

Fabulous house on Loch shore
Fantastic house, even nicer than on the photos. Plenty of space for our group of 10. Great base for hiking with Glencoe and Ben Nevis in one direction and Oban in the other. Would love to come back.

Watkins family
This is the third time we have stayed at the house with our family party. The group was aged between seven to 89 year! This is a wonderful house in a wonderful setting just over half an hour from Oban and all the Western Cost of Scotland and Isles has to offer. There is so much to do and see for anyone that loves the outdoors, countryside or sea life. If you like to fish or just mooch about on the loch. Dough Bannatyne at Taynuilt will also drop off a boat to the house for your use! We caught loads of cod and mackerel as do the seals!

Wonderful location
Fabulous house with a wonderful location. Mr Hind was very helpful with the local knowledge and we had a great time exploring the area including his recommended restaurants. All were fabulous. It takes something when you open your curtains in the morning and see Mother Otter with her two cubs swimming and feeding just yards from the house. With the main living upstairs we also watched a fabulous Osprey at eye level fishing. The house has all the amenities to cater for a large group or family. I think they have thought of everything. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect holiday home for family celebrations..
A beautiful house tastefully decorated and very well equipped. It has everything you would need. The owners generously provide cleaning products loo paper and even a ready supply of tea bags. If you arrive and have forgotten anything it will be there to use and then replace later. We were a group of 12 extended family members. There was plenty of room for all of us in fact enough to have separate areas for each age group to do their own thing. The host us very helpful, both prior to the holiday and during our stay. When contacted got straight back to us. We had a slightly blocked drain in one of the showers and Andrew sent someone round immediately to sort it out. We had a wonderful week in a fabulous house and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a week in the beautiful Scottish hills and loch.

The house is fantastic
We had a brilliant stay at Teigh Na Breac. We were a family group ranging in age from 16-75, and everyone loved it. The house is equipped to a very high standard, and sitting on the veranda looking at the sunset was just beautiful. Everyone also enjoyed otter and seal spotting from the house.
I would definitely recommend staying here and we would love to visit again.

Honestly Beyond Exceptional!
From start to finish everything about this trip was perfect. Andrews help and support prior to our arrival was invaluable to ensuring this trip was possible, as we were a group of 12 with various logistical requirements. Beyond this, the house itself proved to be fantastic at accommodating a group our size, was in immaculate condition, and provided the perfect home away from home for our new years celebrations. No words here can help to describe the surrounding environment better than the photographs already do, other than to say this is a truly sensational place that really must be experienced. I have already recommended this to all my colleagues here in Glasgow and so too have the other guests. I very much expect I will be trying to plan a trip back to this beautiful home sooner rather than later.

Just stunning!
My family and I stayed here for a week at the end of October/beginning of November, made up of me and my husband with our 3 young children (age 5, 3 and 1), my brothers and their wives/families (kids aged 8, 5 and 4) and our parents in their 70s. This house is at the end of the Loch, around the hill from the quarry, but that honestly wasn’t an issue. We barely knew it was there bar a few trucks up and down the road during the day if we were home.
The outlook from the house is just breathtaking. The autumnal colours take in a life of their own and the serenity of watching seals jump and play in the water is therapy for the soul. The house is renovated to a very high standard and beautifully kept (be sure to look at the book there which shows the story of it all - quite remarkable!) The kitchen is extremely well equipped - though could do with a few more spare cupboards to store food as most are full. Most beds are comfortable- though a shame there is a reliance on so many put up beds to make the numbers up, which for a week are no comfortable. Some of the bedrooms are gallery rooms - open over the lounge and kitchen - so not ideal for children or early settlers. I’d also say that this isn’t a house for young children. We were terrified all week of them breaking something or marking something and there is stuff everywhere for them to fiddle with and explore / none of which suitable for them! Plus the pianos that they’re not allowed to touch!! The only brown water we saw (from filtration) was bath water or toilet water which didn’t bother us - the tap water was clear and delicious.
There’s plenty to do - horse riding, castles, the prison, though no boat tours this time of year - and Poppies Garden Centre nearby in Oban was a lovely place for tea. There’s nearby waterfalls to visit and beautiful walks or cycle routes too.
Andrew - the owner - was so helpful and accommodating. We never felt intended upon and when we needed something - like extra towels - it was sorted straight away.
I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this property for a Scottish break - without small kids! Simply stunning location and I’m sure in warmer months the loch can also be enjoyed a bit more!

Outstanding and Memorable
We have rented homes and have stayed in grand hotel suites around the world. This home neat Oban is especially memorable.
The location is spectacular as is the view.
It is near Oban ( 20+ minutes drive) and is centrally located in Scotland.
We used the house with our grown kids to explore the western coast of Scotland. Each evening we would return and cook a great meal in a Professional Chefs kitchen and talk about our day while watching the late summer sun set over the lock that inspired important western lititure while feasting on some of the finest seafood freshly caught off the coast of Oban.
We have travelled in over 100 countries and this is our handfew whe want to return.
If you want to experience the best od Scotland as as Scot I recommend staying here.

Fantastic house and location
The house is set on a beautiful loch in a quiet and secluded area. The scenery is absolutely amazing and we were fortunate to see both gray seals in the lake as well as peacocks on the road in front of the house. From nearly every room in the house there is a stunning view of the loch. The house has been beautifully renovated and it contains all modern facilities and amenities, while preserving at the same time a very cosy atmosphere. We stayed in the house 14 people - grandparents, children and grandchildren - and we found enough room for all. As to the layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms our only ‘aber dabei’ was, that two bedrooms were located on an open loft, causing us all to go to bed and wake up at the same time to avoid problems with noise. The house has everything you may want, comfortable beds, modernised bathrooms, and especially we were very happy with the large amount of kitchen equipment, the multiple ovens and dishwashers. This was all fantastic when cooking for 14 people.
The owner, Andrew, has been extremely kind and helpful troughout, and we thank him for a great stay in Tigh Na Breac. Andrew provided us with lots of information about the house as well as things to do and see in the area. And we owe him a special thanks for his quick effort to obtain fishing rods – acting on our careful inquiry just a few days before our arrival. We are very greatful for this, which allowed us to go fishing in Loch Etive along side the quarry, were we also went for some lovely walks, spotting seals and otters on several occasions. Both children and grown ups had lots of fun fishing in what we were told by the locals to be a great fishing spot, even attracting anglers from other parts of Scotland!
Trips that we can recommend: among others a visit to Oban (enjoying freshly prepared mussels on the harbour, visiting the Oban whiskey destillery), walking in Glen Coe mountains, sailing to Isle of Staffa, riding the Harry Potter train btw. Fort William and Mallaig, swimming in Loch Lomond etc.
We would love to visit this house again some day and we can highly recommend it!

Gorgeous House, stunning location.
Firstly, can I say how fantastic the house is. It has been converted to a very high standard using top quality products and we did not want for anything. You can telll that a lot of hard work and soul has gone into the refurbishment and we absolutely loved the house, it was perfect for our family holiday. Set on a lovely loch in a quiet area, the scenery is stunning and we were privileged to see the otter on numerous occasions. It did not bother us that the house is fairly close to the quarry, we did not notice it. The owner, Andrew, could not have been more helpful, a pleasure to deal with, and we'd like to thank him for allowing us to stay in his fab house. We had some lovely walks and plenty of fishing. Even though it was pretty wet, we had a fantastic holiday and didn't want to leave. Cannot fault this property ant would love to visit again one day.

Amazing views, very special place
We really enjoyed our stay. This is such a unique property with stellar views from every window. The hosts were extremely responsive and went out of their way to make sure we were well set-up. The house is very well appointed for large groups, has a terrific kitchen that has been expertly thought-out for feeding big groups. Great spot.
