We took exception to bad attitude of the owner with respect to the required R5000 damage deposit. (I have never before been asked for a damage deposit)
After paying the deposit by EFT - which did not show up in her account immediately (because it was not an instant pay transfer) Despite showing proof that it had already been taken from my account, we had to draw an additional R5000 cash and leave it with the manager otherwise we would not be given the keys to our room - which we had already paid for in full.
So we effectively - we paid R10,000 breakage deposit for a 3 night stay!
So be aware! If you are staying at Serendipity - you will NOT be given the keys to your room unless your deposit has CLEARED in her account.
This really spoilt what was meant to be a nice relaxing weekend away.
For this reason we will definitely not be back.
Access to the upstairs room via the side gate is awkward because the yard door opens the wrong way. The external stairway is narrow, steep, and not covered. Difficult when it is raining and you need to get your luggage upstairs - we got very wet.
The rooms were comfortable and clean and location is convenient.

Pleasant stay, good location, great staff.
Very comfortable and will use again.
Minor provision to accommodate cursed load shedding 2 small battery powered lights
I suppose businesses should be looking to provide inverter or solar powered battery backup to combat negative conditions.
Incompetent Eskom not managed to get the situation under control. , Cannot see them doing it anytime soon. Vote corruption out.

We rented the upper and lower apartment from the owner. Both units are beautifully decorated with lovely furniture, bedding et cetera. First I want to extend my warmest appreciation and thankfulness to the host for kind and generous offer to extend our dates because I contract Corona. She was very accommodating and it was very best to make sure that we can stay the night that we actually also booked. The host was absolutely right that one should read everything carefully before rental. I would not recommend this this apartment for elderly or frail people, as both the upper and lower apartments require quite a couple of steep steps up and down. There was a misunderstanding because of the location of the swimming pool, which is not across the roads, but actually in the nearby clubhouse. I was disappointed because I thought the pool was much closer. The neighbour was digging up his driveway and caused me a great deal of stressful noise. The host refused to take any responsibility for having to let us know beforehand that the noise could be disturbing. Because of my illness this was a great burden to me and I think it should’ve been communicated. This was not her opinion. I must also note that for a country as dangerous as South Africa, I was amazed to find that not a single window has burgled bars on them. There is an extensive alarm system in place, but I still felt unsafe. None of the doors to the bedrooms have keys, which makes privacy quite impossible if you want to make sure that nobody steps into your bedroom. The lower apartment requires you walking through a narrow passage then downstairs into an open garden and at night this is quite scary. The apartments were both not fully cleaned and we found hair on the floor, the shower is dirty and the microwave oven full of old breadcrumbs. Upon arrival we were not explained the alarm system properly which causes confusion and uncertainty.

Use of swimming pool while beaches were closed.
Having to carry all your stuff down the stairs and then back up when leaving, especially for senior citizens.
