The location was scenic and pretty with a rural vibe but also close enough to town that navigation was not difficult when getting to resturants.

There was no caffienated coffee in the room it was all decaf. I had to go to the store to buy a cup of coffee.

Unique Romantic Getaway

We stayed in the Matthew McConaughey suite. It was very secluded and quiet. The room was large and well appointed. The property has basically anything a traveler might need in their store.

The linens are quite rough and there was some odor from smokers but after a little while you don't even notice.

My stay was rough.

location, beautiful setting

Besides the very old, outdated rooms with a musty smell that I had planned for, they tried to put me in the same room with a broken heater that they had put me in (and had to move me out of) 4 days earlier when I stayed at the beginning of my trip. Then they tried to tell me “everything is running cold” and offered a space heater if the heat didn’t work. I insisted on another room and grudgingly got one. I’ve liked that place so close to the airport and on such a great property but I probably won’t stay there again after this time.

Good last minute booking; good value . Nice on site amenities and friendly, helpful staff.

Liked the rural location near city amenities; very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the fire pit. Lots of families and activity but everyone was very respectful and quiet after hours.

Cabins were located very close together in rows.

Great potential with a few twiks

Very quite & peaceful, beautiful.

Some of The staff is very Rude. The housekeeper supervisor is rude & doesn't clean very well dirty cabin. No paper towels in any of the bathrooms. The bathroom & showers rooms hadn't been cleaned in days. And they are in slow season?? No reason for the place to be filthy. They also need to fix the plumbing overall. Many clogged toilets 🚻 in showers bathrooms & cabin. The place looks like the current crew is overwhelmed and can't keep up with maintenance. The front desk personnel only few know how to do there jobs. And do it well the rest overcharge you make mistakes then are rude when you point it out. They place needs a good clean along with a restoration of employees & property. With overgrowth can't hardly see the water. Thank you for letting me share. Basswood is wonderful place I believe with the right staff with a vision to restore & create beauty that is only surpassed by the exemplary customers service. & a passion for the customers. They can excel at excellent for many decades & all the generations to come.

Our favorite for a short getaway.

We love staying here! Quiet, secluded and peaceful. Room is always clean enough for us to be comfortable. I like that we can get food or drinks upstairs if we don't want to drive all the way into town. The patio with the propane fireplace for each suite is so nice! Gives you more ways to enjoy the outdoors too and not be stuck in your room if you don't want to be. There is a nice view of the pond and trees from the patio. Staff has always been courteous and helpful.

Needs some repairs done inside and out. Starting to get a little outdated. A little bit of a drive off the highway.

It looked amazing on the app. We booked it to check it out for a trip we wanted to take with our kids in the spring.

When my person I was traveling with woke up sick on the day we were booked for I tried to change my date I was told that was not an option, and I was charged not only for my room but for a cancellation fee that was only $4 less than my room charge. I was extremely disappointed because I thought they would be reasonable due to the severity and nature of the illness and the fact that I just wanted to change the day because we really wanted to check it out so we could book a week long family vacation.

I showed up at 7:55 pm no staff on property. Was dark and rainy so I looked through the glass doors from outside and no one was there. So I called the number and left a message that I was on property and no one called back. I went to the Microtel motel and stayed the night of Sept 21st. 9:30 am Sept 22 nd still no call back so I called Basswood and spoke to Bob. Bob said he had already put me on no call no show because he says inside the vestaville between two sets of doors was my packet with keys and instructions for my room. How was I to know to pull on the doors and look for a packet? A courtesy call to me before they closed up would have been nice to tell me to look for a packet. Bob's manager got on the and she said well common sense would have told you to look for your key/ packet so take it up with Booking .com to get a refund. I asked her to just book me for Friday night Sept 23 Rd for the credit on my card. She said no take it up with Booking .com. so I'm now asking for my refund from booking . Com please help me. Thanks

Great place for friends or family to gather and relax

The kids loved their stay and it was perfect for a small overnight to celebrate a 10th birthday. Lots to do to keep the kids busy and nice to not have to haul a tent!

The cabin we were given and the cabin that was booked were the same. Listing said 2 queen beds and the cabin only came with one. And member of the party had to go back and get a cot to sleep on. There was also not enough plates/utensils/cups.

We have family history dating back even before my grandparents were married here! We celebrated their 50th anniversary here years ago & still come to enjoy everything there is to offer! We love it!

The staff there was truly one of a kind I only went for a day but I stayed as long as I could i arrived a stranger and in the end I didn't want to leave such the kind hearted people we met there

Disappointed

The location was nice and the amenities- pool, activities, pickleball court were all nice. AC worked in the cabin.

The beds were terribly uncomfortable, no one in my family slept well. There were ANTS EVERYWHERE. I've never been so glad to only be staying one night. Management didn't seem to care.
