Lovely room very tastful close to town.

Said on booking.com that it had a separate bedroom.so wasn't very pleased when I arrived and it didn't have one.

Lovely stay

The couple who own it where friendly and full of local knowledge. The room was clean and beautifully decorated.

The mattress was too soft for me, but my husband loved it.

Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Lovely welcoming hosts. Excellent location, only a short walk in to the centre of Whitby. Advertised as “boutique” and certainly lived up to expectations. On-site or near by private parking included. This is a room only establishment, but there are numerous places to eat breakfast nearby.

The only negative was the small sink in the en-suite, which made shaving a challenge for my husband. But can understand this as the layout couldn’t accommodate a larger one. However, the powerful shower made up for this.

Last minute trip

Wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts. We arrived at Whitby a little earlier than expected and could not find anywhere to park and the owners kindly let us check in early. The Mainstay is beautiful and immaculately clean with everything you need for a comfortable night's stay. It is in a perfect spot for the short walk into the town. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

great stay, great place a really special birthday treat, despite the rain on Monday.

Everything was exceptional, total quality, perfect location and private parking in Whitby!!! Our Hosts were very friendly and attentive also a source of local information regarding things to do, places to visit and restaurants.

Luxury Break

The location was perfect only a couple of minutes walk and you're in the center of Whitby.The hosts are very nice and so welcoming, parking is just behind the property very easy to get to, the room was excellent ,would definitely recommend it.

There wasn't anything not to like.

Home from home

The location was very close to the centre of whitby right next to the train station but not noisy. No breakfast, but a gorgeous property very high end decor throughout. The proprietors are extremely welcoming & have lots of knowledge about places to eat & visit .

Fabulous boutique style rooms in fantastic location convenient for everything

Beautiful well appointed rooms in a fantastic location literally a few steps away from everything. Free car parking and super helpful hosts who gave us good recommendations for places to eat and visit etc. Our room had a lovely view over to the harbour and Abbey above. Highly recommended.

I was too hot in bed but that’s normal for me !

Amazing stay that we will definitely use again.

Great location, just around the corner from the centre of Whitby. Owners were super helpful but at the same time left you to your own unless they saw you around. Room was spotless and bed was amazingly comfy. Coffee, tea and biscuits were on the table for when we arrived. The little patio we had gave a lovely view when we sat out there in the mornings.

No complaints.

Peter and Julie were very welcoming, everything that we needed was there and if we needed anything extra our hosts were there on hand to help. The mainstay has a central location and is easy to get to. Our hosts were very helpful with local information. We will definitely be visiting again.

What a beautiful place to stay. The owners Peter and Julie were so welcoming. They have created a great place to stay. Top quality.

Bed was a little bit soft for us but that wasn't because of the quality of the mattress, just our preference.

A place were we will visit again for a longer period if time, both at the accommodation and Whitby,

The closeness to all the amenities, all withing walking distance. Historical association at Captain Cook museum, were a font of knowledge and made the visit very enjoyable.

Passable

For a boutique hotel I would have expected a fridge, and housekeeping, I did not expect for the price it costs, to have to wash our own mugs, make our beds and empty our own bins, who takes cleaning products with them when staying in an expensive boutique hotel, I have stayed in many for less money with all services included.
